Nintendo Wii Discontinued In Japan

Nintendo Wii Discontinued In JapanBoy, how fast time flies. Just a few weeks after Nintendo announced that they would cease the manufacturing of the Nintendo Wii for Japan, the gaming company has listed the console as “discontinued” (after some translation work, of course) on its Japanese website. I guess this means that if you happen to be in Japan and would love to pick up a Nintendo Wii, either as a replacement for your broken Wii or as a gift to a nephew, it would not bode well. You would most probably have to go purchase a backwards-compatible Wii U or take the road that some of us might want to avoid – checking out second hand Wiis, or perhaps hunt down leftover stock at retailers.

Of course, the curtain has not yet fallen down on the Nintendo Wii, as the standard issue Wii and Wii Mini will still be available for sale in other countries. This does not mean that they will still be hanging around for many more years, as it is likely that in due time, as next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony roll out, Nintendo would most probably do the same to the Wii in other countries as they have just done in Japan.

Nintendo Offers No Save Map For Pokemon X And Pokemon Y Lumiose Save Bug

Nintendo Offers No Save Map For Pokemon X And Pokemon Y Lumiose Save BugBoth Pokemon X and Pokemon Y were released recently, and they have respectively racked up a fair amount of sales which is impressive for a portable console title, but that is to be expected considering the juggernaut of a franchise that it is. Unfortunately, the game itself has been “tainted” by a game breaking bug which has actually caused some grief for those who were affected. Apparently, if you were to save the game in specific areas within the main city of Lumiose, the game will freeze, and you would have to begin all over again. There is a silver lining behind this apparent dark cloud as Nintendo is working around the situation for a permanent fix.

Basically, Nintendo responded something along the lines of delivering a fix for this sae bug issue in a few days’ time via the Nintendo eShop, although gamers’ patience will have to be tested between now and then. As a stop gap measure, Nintendo has introduced the map of Lumiose City below that marks the selected areas that players should avoid saving their game. Better be safe than sorry, and just because it has not affected you before, that does not mean the issue is no real at all!

Hyrulean Leather Journals Are a Thing of Beauty

A plain old journal is not good enough for the video game fanatic. Especially after you have laid eyes on these amazing books. These mythical journals were inspired by the Legend of Zelda games and they get all of the details pitch perfect. Just look at that dyed leather and brass.

These journals come from MilleCuirs who has an amazing eye for design. The leather is embossed with the Hylian crest, and the Triforce symbol stands out in metal. The interior pages are even dyed by hand so they look aged and the interior covers are made from hand-marbled paper.

Nintendo 3DS Takes Top Spot In The US

Nintendo 3DS Takes Top Spot In The USConsistency and repeat performances are some of the hallmarks of greatness at the pinnacle of whatever industry or sport that you are involved in, and Nintendo has done it again with their portable handheld console, the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS has been claimed by Nintendo to be the best-selling video game system in the U.S. for the fifth consecutive month, while their Wii U console has also gained a new boost in momentum after a price cut was introduced.

I do suppose that the launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on October 12th globally had something to do with a marked increase in the Nintendo 3DS sales, as a strong title is always a catalyst to shift more hardware units. This just goes to prove that having the best hardware in the world alone is nothing if you do not have the kind of software or games in this aspect, to go along with it. For those of you who have already picked up the Nintendo 3DS recently, do bear in mind that you should have a couple more blockbusters that are set to arrive on the same day that the Microsoft Xbox One is released – The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour should make an appearance this coming November 22nd.

The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask’s Future Teased By Series Producer

The Legend Of Zelda: Majoras Masks Future Teased By Series Producer

We recently found out The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker wasn’t the only game in the Legend of Zelda series Nintendo had considered to create an HD remake for. Prior to deciding on The Wind Waker HD, Nintendo had toyed with possibly offering an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as well as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. But it looks like Nintendo may have some future plans for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. (more…)

Hulu Plus Lands On The Nintendo 3DS

    hulu-logo

Hulu, one of three big reasons why you should probably cut the cable soon, has today announced that it will provide access to its library of streamable TV shows and movies to Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, and Nintendo 2DS owners.

According to the official blog post, Hulu and Nintendo worked together to provide a solid experience across the various handheld gaming devices, one that “takes advantage of the systems’ dual screen option.

This means that users can be viewing Hulu content on the top screen while browsing through content options on the bottom screen. And where browsing is concerned, Hulu ensures that it’s the same user experience Huluers have grown accustomed to, with trays for each category of content including recommendations.

Moreover, Hulu users who have both the Nintendo 3DS and a Nintendo Wii or Wii U are in luck. Hulu has built out the 3DS app to automatically swap a show from the Wii to the Nintendo 3DS as you leave the house. Clever.

The Hulu app on 3DS also comes with a feature called Smart Play, which lets you instantly resume the last episode you were watching on any device from a single button.

Finally, Hulu has implemented a Kids Lock on the 3DS app that only lets users surf content from Hulu’s kid’s section, which is pretty important considering the demographic of Nintendo 3DS and 2DS users.

As with any new sign-up on Hulu, you’ll get a one-week free trial here.

Nintendo 2DS Teardown Confirms Its Single LCD Screen Design

This weekend was a pretty big one for Nintendo as not only did they release Pokemon X & Y at a record-breaking pace, but they also released a new handheld called the Nintendo 2DS. We were able to get some hands-on time with the Nintendo 2DS this past weekend at New York Comic Con, and after playing around with the handheld, we are certainly curious to see what makes the device tick. We would have busted open a 2DS at New York Comic Con, but we’re happy we didn’t as Rose Colored Gaming has gone ahead and taken apart the handheld. (more…)

A Zelda Movie Might Require Movie Goers To Bring Their Nintendo 3DS

A Zelda Movie Might Require Movie Goers To Bring Their Nintendo 3DSWe’re sure there are many gamers out there who wouldn’t mind seeing a Zelda movie being made, but given that video game movies hardly turn out the way they’re intended, Nintendo probably does not want to sully the name of one of their biggest franchises. However if and when such a movie were to be made, it seems that movie goers might need to bring their Nintendo 3DS handheld console into the cinemas if they wish to be able to enjoy the movie on a whole new level.

Speaking to the folks at Kotaku, Eiji Aonuma revealed that he and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto have discussed the possibility of such a movie in the past, but instead of merely adapting the game into a movie, they would make it interactive. “If we were to make a Zelda title, if we had interest in doing that, I think really what would be most important to us is to be able to play with the format of a movie, make it more interactive, like you’re able to take your 3DS into the theater and that leads you into participating in it somehow. We wouldn’t want to make it the same as any other movie. We want to somehow change what a movie is.” It’s definitely an intriguing idea, but what do you guys think? Would you love to see such a Zelda movie being made?
