When one talks about Nokia smartphones, we would more or less figure out that these would run on the Windows Phone platform, as Nokia has been associated with Microsoft’s mobile operating system for a fair number of years already. Well, it seems that things might have taken a different turn this time around, with word that Nokia has decided to use Mobile World Congress 2014 to unveil a trio of new smartphones, namely the Nokia X, X+ and XL. These will be priced between the existing Asha and Lumia lines, which will retail for €89, €99 and €109, respectively, where they ought to offer a fair bit of appeal to new smartphone users who are on the lookout for popular apps as well as their first cloud services.
The new Nokia X family would bring along with it Nokia’s exciting, high quality hardware design alongside a range of bright colours. The brand new, tile-based Home screen would offer one a simple, elegant method to manage your apps and phone functions, not to mention having reintroduce a redesigned version of the enormously popular Fastlane notifications centre, which is somewhat deemed to be a second Home screen if you would like to call it just that.
You will also find acclaimed Nokia and Microsoft services and experiences arrive right out of he box, as HERE Maps with turn-by-turn navigation and offline maps are also thrown into the mix. All three of them will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core processor and will be able to wield Dual SIM cards. Other third-party apps that arrive preinstalled include BBM, Plants vs. Zombies 2, Viber, Vine and Twitter. The Nokia X would be the entry level model, sporting a 4-inch IPS LCD screen, 512MB RAM and a 3-megapixel camera. As for the Nokia X+, it comes with 768MB RAM and a 4GB microSD card, while last but not least would be the 5” Nokia XL that features 768MB RAM, a free microSD memory card and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera as well as a 5MP shooter at the back.

The Android-based Nokia X has already gone on sale in selected markets worldwide, while there are another two Android-based smartphones which were announced by Nokia last month, which would be the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. It is a good thing to take note of, however, that the Nokia XL and Nokia X+ will come with 4GB MicroSD cards pre-installed quite unlike the Nokia X, so users need not have to worry about not having enough internal memory for their needs.

Initially many had thought that only the Nokia X would be announced at MWC 2014, followed by two more Nokia Android devices in the later part of the year, but they were wrong as Nokia has not only announced the Nokia X, the Nokia X+, but also the Nokia XL.
