NUU MiniKey for iPhone 5

Ever since Apple rolled out the first generation iPhone back in 2007, the world has more or less had to get used to typing on a virtual keyboard where their smartphones are concerned. Not only that, we have also seen the decline of the QWERTY keyboard on such devices that come in a slide-out design, or are part of the physical make up right from the get go. Thing is, typing on a virtual keyboard is not the easiest thing to do especially when you are busy working out of the office and need to get that 20-page report out as soon as possible. Sure, there are other accessories out there that can help you apart from software such as Swype on the Android platform to make life a whole lot easier, and here is another option that you might just want to consider – the NUU MiniKey for iPhone 5.

NUU is one of the more notable mobile accessories manufacturers who want to improve the functionality of mobile devices through their collection of innovative products, and has just unveiled the MiniKey for iPhone 5 recently. The NUU MiniKey for iPhone 5 is actually a slide-out Bluetooth keyboard case which is said to be able to enhance productivity for iPhone power users.

Just in case you were wondering how come the MiniKey for iPhone 5 looks so familiar, that is because this is based on the acclaimed iPhone 4 model, and along the way, it has also adopted similar features including the backlit keyboard which comes in handy when you are working in low light conditions, a full 42-key keypad, a slightly raised frame to ensure that the iPhone 5 screen remains protected from scratches, while special function keys allow one to quickly and easily edit text.

Not only that, it sports a thinner and lighter frame, an on/off switch, ergonomic buttons, quick-charge ability and improved Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. If you are interested, the NUU MiniKey for iPhone 5 will be available for $59 a pop.

NUU Splash, the waterproof Bluetooth speaker

I do wonder sometimes when a particular device such as a speaker is waterproof, how would it affect the way that you use other devices connected to it? Case in point, CES 2013 saw the announcement of the NUU Splash Bluetooth speaker that is clearly waterproof, helping you enjoy your favorite tunes the next time there is a poolside or beach party, but have you ever gave thought to the device streaming music to it? Is your smartphone or portable media player waterproof? Sure, this would mean additional expenditure on your part to purchase a waterproof case, but surely there are no waterproof notebooks out there – at least, not yet.

I guess this means I will just concentrate on sharing with you what the NUU Splash portable waterproof wireless speaker offers, and you will have to make the decision as to whether to bring one home or not when available. It has an integrated microphone and will work with all Bluetooth devices, manufactured using aircraft-grade aluminum for lightweight toughness and is IP55 certified against dust and low pressure water jets. Accessing volume and track selection controls are a snap, and it even functions as a speakerphone if you desire it to. The NUU Splash has been rated to last for up to 10 hours of continuous playback, or 240 hours on standby. You can choose from green, blue, gray, red and black colors at $99 a pop.

NUU Splash Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

nuu splash NUU Splash Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker[CES 2013] Bluetooth speakers are dime a dozen, and it is almost customary for a particular gizmo to come with Bluetooth connectivity these days, otherwise it would be considered as a crime by certain quarters. Well, the portable speaker department too, has not been able to shake off this particular expectation, which is why we are faced with the NUU Splash Bluetooth speaker, and as the name suggests, it has a penchant for water, which makes perfect sense since it sports waterproof capability.

If you tend to spend plenty of time by the poolside or at the beach and absolutely love your tunes, then the NUU Splash would be the ideal portable speaker for you, although it would come highly recommended that you waterproof your streaming device as well through a case, or in the case of a notebook, you will just need to be extra careful. They don’t make waterproof notebooks yet the last time I checked.

All in all, the NUU Splash is made out of aircraft-grade aluminum, and is IP55 certified against dust and low pressure water jets, sporting a rated battery life of 10 hours play or 240 hours stand by, where you can choose from green, blue, gray, red and black colors at $99 apiece.
