In recent times, we have seen our fair share of leaked photos of the Sony C660X Yuga, where it is also known as the Sony Xperia Z, which is in stark contrast to the Sony C650X Odin which has seen very few leaks along the way. Well, a Vietnamese website known as SE-Cafe do claim to have managed to achieve some hands-on time with the Sony C650X Odin, although they say that they were not given the relevant permission to snap photos of their experience. In Internet parlance, pics or it didn’t happen!
Well, there were some hints dropped about the C650X Odin, and since the alleged device which was given some hands-on time is a prototype, the final version of this Sony Mobile device could be a slightly changed beast altogether when released. It is said that the Odin is thicker and heavier than the Yuga, and the back of the smartphone will feature a textured (or perhaps a striped pattern) that is similar to the Sony Xperia E dual. It will also be strange to see the front-facing camera located at the bottom-right of the handset instead of the usual practice at the top right hand corner. What do you make of it?

Earlier this month, we saw more images of the Sony Yuga leaked, where from there we also managed to glean some information concerning the Yuga, such as a unibody design alongside whispers of a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, and a 5” 1080p Full HD display. Well, it seems that the Sony Yuga is not the only one in the 1080p Full HD display boat, as the Odin too, is said to sport a similar device that shares the same screen size as well.
There are new rumors going around that basically, the Sony Yuga and Sony Odin are the same devices – although the former would be headed for Japan with feature such as water resistance, while the Sony Odin is positioned to be the international version of the smartphone. As for the Yuga’s measurements, it is said to sport 138.6mm x 71mm x 8.1mm dimensions at 140 grams, while the odin is slightly smaller (albeit thicker) at 131.6mm x 69.7mm x 9.8mm, tipping the scales at 147 grams.

Sony C650X Odin render is a fake
Posted in: Today's ChiliEarlier in the week, we caught what seemed like a render of the Sony C650X Odin, and thought that it was the real deal, or at least a concept of what it would look like if it were to be fleshed out. For starters, the render that you see above hails from the folks over at Concept-Phones, and as the name as well as the website obviously suggests, it is but a concept only.
As to how the Sony C650X Odin association was attached to the render, well, this was because the person behind the render’s submission was done by someone who prefers to be simply known as ‘Jsus’, who incidentally is the very same person who came up with the live model of the previous Odin concept. I guess because of that, most folks attributed this to the upcoming C650X Odin, but what we have to say is this, it does look like a very decent render, although it could have even be more realistic like another Sony device, fingerprints and all, which was actually a hoax done by another person who wanted to see how far a hoax on the Internet could go.

We did talk about the Sony C650X Odin’s alleged specifications more than a week ago, but had absolutely no inkling of an idea as to just how the smartphone would look like. Well, it does seem as though additional light has been shed into the darkness of rumors, and here we are with what could very well be the first leaked image of the Sony C650X Odin in the flesh. The Sony C650X Odin is touted to be Sony Mobile’s upcoming flagship device, where it will be positioned to fight for the Android-powered phablet market share among other rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, LG Intuition and HTC DLX.
It seems that Sony has translated their TV design over to the C650X Odin, where there is hardly a bezel for your eyes to grab a hold of, as it does look as though the screen itself offers edge-to-edge functionality. Of course, this could be due to the fact that the device itself has been turned off, so one cannot really make a conclusion as to whether this is legit or not. Rumored specifications include a 5” display at 1080 x 1920 resolution, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB RAM. Perhaps more will be revealed at the CES showfloor next year – or will we see an official announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona after?

A few days ago we reported that a certain Sony device with the codename “Odin” hinted at the possibility that this could be Sony’s flagship phone in 2013. However until today, only the name was known but thanks to the folks at Phone Arena, they have managed to stumble across a forum thread which was dedicated to Xperia rumors. While the post itself is a bit dated, what makes it somewhat credible is the fact that the poster referenced “Odin” a good few months before the tech publications (like ourselves) came across it. Every smartphone company needs a flagship device in the market to stamp its authority and go head to head with other top-end models. Of course, flagship devices need not necessarily be your best selling model, but we all need the proverbial figurehead in our lives, don’t we? Sony Mobile’s C650X Odin might very well be the flagship smartphone for next year, assuming the Mayan calendar is all out of whack and we still have an earth to call home by then.
I guess the model number naming convention would have seen a revamp by then, with the ST/MT/LT code structure being no longer in place, but rather, having a new five character model number which ought to be the new standard in moving forward. The User-Agent Profile (UAProf) for Sony Mobile’s 2013 flagship has been given the codename ‘Odin’, where it was also accompanied by model numbers C6502, C6503 and C6506. These three represent a single handset, where the last character in each model number would point towards various regions and carriers where they are to be released. We cannot wait for 2013 to come around fast enough, how about you?

Only two days after Samsung announced the availability of the Galaxy Note 10.1 (and its source code), it appears to already have been rooted. An XDA user named Zedomax claims to have pulled off the feat by injecting root into the stock European firmware, then installing the superuser’d version in conventional ODIN fashion. With the usual bricking caveats, that’ll let you start installing unsanctioned apps to the pen-enabled beast, while apparently still getting OTA updates from the mother company. We’d love to verify it ourselves with our own GT-N8000, but we don’t have one yet — and neither does hardly anyone else, so you may want to wait for some other brave soul to confirm it before going ahead.
