Here's How You Might Drive Your Next SUV From A Smartphone

Land Rover went a little bland with the design on their Discovery Vision Concept , but they made a good effort to compensate by cramming in a Starship Enterprise complement of gadgets. And the remote-control driving feature is far and away the coolest one.

Der Zeisel: The Ultimate Off-Road Wheelchair

Have you ever wanted to feel like Emperor Palpatine, or Davros, the creator of the Daleks? Well, now you can get closer to that sensation, thanks to this off-road machine. It looks like the ultimate wheelchair, putting all other wheelchairs to shame.

Der Zeisel, which means “the seat” in German, looks like a combination of a tank and a mobility scooter. However, it’s able to handle snow, grass, mud, and sand. A racing seat was bolted onto a tube steel frame and its two off-road tracks are powered by electric disk motors, which produce 21 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque. The included battery pack will operate the seat for up to five hours, driving at a maximum speed of 22 mph.

Extreme Barbie Jeep Racing: Fisher-Price Goes Off-Road

Wow. This is a real sport. Extreme Barbie Jeep Racing is basically off-roading, but without the huge heavily modified and super horsepower 4x4s. Instead you use cheap, fast, toy plastic cars that grown men barely fit in, and remove the speed limiters. Sounds awesome.

From what I can gather from the info available, you drink a bunch of moonshine, slap each other on the back a few times, crank up the country music and then push each other down the hill in one of these kid’s cars.

I guess I would be game for that. Just don’t try to feed me any roadkill or anything. And the minute I hear banjo music, I’m out!

SRI EV1 brings all-electric racing to the Mexican 1000 rally (video)

SRI EV1 brings allelectric offroading to the General Tire Mexican 1000 rally video

We’ve seen electric off-roaders tackle the Dakar Rally, but racing on the Baja peninsula has proven elusive — until this weekend. After driving in smaller races, SRI’s EV1 has joined the big leagues by starting in NORRA’s Mexican 1000 rally. The 535HP, 400kW open-wheeler has participated in at least the first trio of special stages, and it will ideally join a handful of further stages that fit within the vehicle’s 100-mile range. While the EV1 is far from the front of the Evolution class, at 36th place as of this writing, winning isn’t the point — SRI wants to drum up enough funding to hot-swap batteries and complete every stage in future races. Its project should at least be proof that smaller EVs can thrive in some of the world’s harshest racing conditions.

Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6: When 4×4 Isn’t Enough

There are a plenty of places in the world that need 4×4s to get around. In some places, that’s just not enough. That’s probably why Mercedes-Benz came up with this 6×6 off-roader, which promises to be the most rugged Merc you’ve ever seen.

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 was probably built for multi-millionaires and super-villains, with secret lairs far away from the beaten path. Or maybe Saudi oil princes, wanting to get around in the desert.

The 8300 pound G63 AMG 6×6 comes with six massive 37-inch wheels for more traction, a twin-turbocharged 5.5L AMG V8 that produces 536HP, a seven-speed automatic transmission and naturally, all-wheel drive, all resulting in a whopping 560-lb-ft of torque.

The interior is quite luxurious, featuring Alcantara and leather, sports seats, and everything you’d expect from a high-end Merc.

You’ll have to pay about $525,000(USD) to get yours, but act quickly, because they’re only making 20 to 30 of these each year.

Reebok ATV 19+ All Terrain Shoes: I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet

I’m into sneakers, but these new Reebok shoes are in a league of their own. I’ve never seen an outsole like these, which were designed especially to provide stability on uneven terrain. They’re basically what ATVs are to cars, but for your feet.

The Reebok ATV 19+ training shoe aims to capture the essence of an all-terrain vehicle. They feature nineteen irregular lugs on the sole of each shoe, along with a carbon rubber outsole, rugged heel and toe overlays, and a padded tongue and for support.

The footwear was made to give high-speed stability and increased traction on challenging surfaces, such as loose rocks, sticks, and in varying weather conditions.

The Reebok ATV 19+ will be available this February 1 and they will cost $140(USD). I’m sure that they will allow you to speed away from the competition on rugged terrain, thanks to their unusual design.
