OneNote For Mac Release Expected Soon
Microsoft already offers a OneNote app for iOS, but it hasn’t released one for Mac up till now. Its not like there is any shortage of note-taking applications on Mac, but the company appears to be bent on competing with rival Evernote. ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley hears from several sources that Microsoft is preparing to release a full-fledged free OneNote for Mac app “soon.”

Microsoft brings Retina display support to Office for Mac

Microsoft brought Office for Mac 2011 up to speed with Mountain Lion this summer, and it’s now back with another update that finally adds support for the MacBook Pro’s Retina display. That comes courtesy of version 14.2.4 of the software suite, and that added sharpness naturally extends across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. You can find the update waiting for you in the Microsoft AutoUpdate tool if you haven’t been prompted to download it already.

Office for Mac 2011 and 2008 ready for OS X Mountain Lion, procrastinators groan

    Office for Mac 2011 fade

So you updated to OS X Mountain Lion and, gosh darn it, you’re not sure that Office for Mac 2011 (or Office 2008 for Mac) will be in perfect harmony. Time to put off finishing that accounts receivable spreadsheet until IT sorts it all out, right? Unfortunately for anyone looking to catch a break, Microsoft just certified that the two most recent Mac versions of Office will purr with Apple’s latest big cat. About the only hiccup remaining is the inability to manually download and install future updates as long as Gatekeeper is on full lockdown. If you’ve been spending all day making paper planes, it’s time to knuckle down and get back to work.

Office for Mac 2011 and Office 2008 for Mac now ready for Mountain Lion

Now that Apple has launched OS X Mountain Lion, Microsoft is confirming that its two Office productivity suite versions for Mac – Office for Mac 2011 and Office 2008 for Mac – are up and ready to support what Apple calls as “the world’s most advanced desktop operating system“. Over at Microsoft’s Office for Mac blog, the team behind the productivity suite is asking Office for Mac users to have the AutoUpdate feature enabled, as it will be needed to make the most of the upgrades to Mountain Lion.

To do this, you can enable AutoUpdate in any Office for Mac application by going to the toolbar, then selecting “Help” and then “Check for Updates.” Microsoft notes that Mountain Lion is outfitted with a new feature called Gatekeeper that helps protect users by allowing them to download and install software from known developers. To keep your Office for Mac updated, Microsoft is recommending that you use Microsoft AutoUpdate, since the updates will not be able to run when you download them on your desktop. Cheers!
