The Cocoon GRID-IT will help you organize all of your accessories clearly and concisely

GRIP-IT
To keep everything we need on hand, we carry a bag around so we can toss all the necessary odds and ends inside. Of course, once they enter your bag, they quickly become a jumbled mess. Cords tangle, flash drives and batteries hide in folds of fabric, and your phone gets scraped up by bits and bobs that it runs into while you travel from point A to B.

Unless you already have a bag with a plethora of pockets, or are willing to purchase one outright, you’ll want an efficient method of keeping your items organized. The GRID-IT is an accessory organizer that looks chaotic until it is put to work. It’s a rubberized woven elastic object on which you can secure items great and small. It uses a patchwork of criss-cross bands with grip on them that can hold just about anything firmly in place.

Thanks to their sporadic placement, there are endless configurations available to you. This only comes in black, and will cost you around $25. Once you’ve loaded it up with all of your stuff, just slid it into your bag. From then on, you’ll know exactly where everything is, and can get to it without having to fight a torrent of keys, gadgets, and cables. This would also be a great way to keep your desk surface or drawers neat and tidy.

The Desktop Photograph to Digital Picture Converter will make old memories into new ones

Desktop Photograph to Digital photo scanner
We can’t remember every single thing we’ve ever seen or keep track of all of our memories. This is one of the many reasons we seem obsessed with taking photos or videos of people, places, meals, and more. As the years press on, the format for storing photos or videos is going to change, just as it has in the past. If you came from a time where having to develop strips of film was normal, then you likely want a way to make those memories more accessible.

Should you have a fair amount of this film lying around, and don’t want to pay someone else to do the work for you, the Desktop Photograph to Digital Picture Converter would be of use. It can scan pictures that you’ve gotten printed or strips of film. By pressing a button, your memories will be turned into  a JPEG on an SD card. Of course, you’ll have to purchase that aspect separately, but make sure it’s no larger than 32GB.

The converter uses a 14MP CMOS sensor, which means it can nab the images at around 3,200dpi. It will work on Mac, Win7,Vista, or XP, and includes a slide tray, film tray, and guides for aligning photos or business cards. There’s an RCA cable that will allow you to put your images on a TV, and it will cost you around $200 (or more if you don’t have an SD card). It will take a fair amount of time in addition to money, so you’ll want to weigh those out against the cost of having someone else doing it.

LED Jellyfish Mood Lamp is like having a pet without the mess

led_jellyfish_mood_lamp_inuse
While fish are graceful and fun to look at, those of us who travel frequently couldn’t hope to keep any. Some pets require feeding and playtime, which is fine to ask a friend to do rather than to feed your aquatic creatures and clean out their habitat. One wrong move when cleaning out a tank and it could put all of your fish in danger. No one wants to ruin a friendship over the loss of a beloved pet.

If you’d like to be able to watch the floating movements of a jellyfish, but not actually tend to its well-being, then the LED Jellyfish Mood Lamp would be right up your alley. Of course, these aren’t actual jellyfish, but they certainly look like it. This way there’s no guilt on your end, and no animal cruelty involved. Everyone wins!

Alright, that’s a bit of a stretch, but this is very calming to look at. It’s a tank that has three ‘jellyfish’ that have lifelike movement via a gentle current swilling about. You will need to add some measure of dish soap for things to work properly, but the amount or type is not specified. There will still likely be the occasion to clean out the tank of the soap and water mixture, but it will be few and far in between. The cost is $30, but reading the commentary on how quickly it breaks, or has a loud sound from the motor makes me a bit more than skeptical.

Verifi Premium Fingerprint Reader – for your eyes only

Verifi
While it’s highly unlikely that someone is going to mess with your computer while you’re not sitting in front of it, there’s always a chance. The information we keep on our computers is just as valuable as material possessions nowadays, and we would do well to guard it. However, for those of us who keep a rather lengthy password, locking your screen can be a major annoyance as typing out every number, letter, or symbol every day can feel like a waste of time.

If you are one such person, then something like the Verifi Premium Fingerprint Scanner would do you some good. This will allow you to simply swipe your finger, and you’ll have instant access to all of your digital goods. It will only work with Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, so apologies to all of you XP and Vista users out there.

This is likely the most useful for those that work in an office setting. You never know who could be trying to get into your personal files while you were away for five minutes. While this will save you the time of logging into your computer (and potentially various apps), you will have to spend $55 to make it yours. It’s a trade off of spending time working to make money to spend on a product that will save you time while you’re working. It could also be useful for the home office if you’re tired of people logging onto your computer and messing up what you were working on.

Sky Light Panels will help reduce stress and brighten up your work space

Skypanel Artifical Light
Working inside of an office can weigh down your mind. It’s hard to see the same geometric working spaces and fluorescent white light casting its boring luminance over everything. It comes as no surprise that office workers deal with anxiety and stress on a daily basis. There’s nothing at all homey about the place, and you know you have to be there for a big chunk of the day, five days a week. That’s why people bring in desk toys, pictures of their families, or buy games on their phone (which I’m sure they only play on break).

While there’s not a whole lot you can do about the space you work in, you can change the atmosphere to a small degree. The Skypanels  are light covers that diffuse the ever-present fluorescent light, and make it seem as though there are clouds floating overhead. It’s a 2×4”, which is standard for most lights of this nature, but can be trimmed down if necessary. These will be replacing the existing panels rather than sticking to them or being a film.

There are a few different types of these in the market, each with a slight variance. Some have a tree encroaching on the view, or a hot air balloon. Whatever you choose, make sure you’re happy with it, because one of these will cost you $35. The only issue you may come up against is your boss not liking the idea. However, I doubt they’d be miffed if you’re trying to be happier about being at work. Just because you’re working class doesn’t mean you can’t live like royalty.

Ribbit Smartphone Dock is a wireless handset and speaker

Ribbit
While smartphones are great, I kind of miss picking up a land line receiver and having a long-winded conversation. You can’t wedge an iPhone in between your shoulder and under your ear the same way, and it has a knack for slipping out and escaping to the ground. There just isn’t a justifiable need for home phones anymore as we all have one in our pocket. While we don’t want to pay two separate phone bills, it would be nice to have the handset option available.

The Ribbit nods to the past while making sure it still fits into our modern world. This is a charging dock that has both a wireless handset and works as a speaker. Your phone or tablet can charge away while you’re off discussing the weather with mom and dad in the other room. Of course, right after that’s over you can let your music resume and get back to the secret dance party you were having.

This won’t take up much space, and only comes in a dark grey and orange color combination. The handset will need to charge up at least once or twice a week (depending on how much you like to talk), and can last for 6 hours of use with 35 hours of standby time if it’s all juiced up. There is a USB charging cable included, and there are volume controls as well as a noise reduction system. This will cost you about $50, and would be perfect for a home office, or trying to make your personal phone look more professional at work.

The Cold Steel Shark Tactical Marker means business

cold_steel_shark_tactical_marker_hammer
It seems silly to spend much money on a writing utensil, because we don’t place much emphasis on handwritten notes anymore. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t need to jot something down to remember what we need from the store. During these times, it is absolutely infuriating if you can’t find a working pen. Should you have a pencil handy, you’re all set to go as long as you have a pencil sharpener if the lead breaks.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you only had to buy one of something, and it wouldn’t break? If you’re a fan of fine, felt tip markers, then you’re going to love the Cold Steel Shark Tactical Marker. This is one writing implement that means serious business. It’s 6.5” long, and is 0.875” in diameter. While the clip might break off, the rest of it is basically indestructible.

Why might you want a marker that can’t be run over by a car and ruined or smashed by a hammer you ask? Well, I can’t honestly answer that. Paying around $8 for one writing tool seems a bit much, but as a lover of this kind of marker, I’ve spent that on Sharpie versions that I wish would’ve lasted longer. The cap screws on so you will have a much harder time of losing the top as it can’t simply be knocked off. There’s no mention of them being waterproof, so try not to leave them in your pants pocket.

Battletank Desk Pet lets you de-stress at the office

battletank-desk-petAll work and no play is said to make Jack a dull boy, and I guess when the proverbial Jack grows up to be a man, he too, would be dull if he were to be a cubicle drone all day long. Perhaps there might be something which can be done to make Jack’s life a whole lot more interesting and fun despite trudging into the office earlier in the morning? This is where the $49.99 Battletank Desk Pet would play a role – literally, as these high-tech battling toy robots would be controlled by a compatible smartphone, bringing the old and new together in a simple amalgamation of ideas.

All you need is a pair, and they will react (adversely) to one another. Compatible with OS devices and Android devices, the Battletank Desk Pet is the ideal way to settle office disputes. The “winner” would be able to get his or her way, as your enemy’s tank spins out of control and slows down to a stop after you register enough successful hits. All you need to do is to plug in a small dongle into the headphone jack, allowing the smart toys to move around, “fire,” recoil, and react to the shots of other Battletanks. The Battletanks are powered by an internal battery which can be charged via USB. 40 minutes of charge time would result in 15 minutes play time.

Mighty Travel Mug makes sure its contents remain safe and sound within

mighty-travel-mugNot all mugs are created equal, as the £14.99 Mighty Travel Mug can definitely attest to as it arrives in a shade of charcoal or red, depending on whichever catches your fancy. With the Mighty Travel Mug, you can be sure that you never need to worry about spilling your drinks by accident, ever again – unless of course, you end up with a royal screw up by not closing the cap of the mug properly. The Mighty Travel Mug comes with a base that will be able to fit in happily with a regular car cup-holder, and with Smart Grip Technology thrown into the mix, you would be able to know just when you will be able to grip the mug, as well as letting you pick it up in a normal manner.

As long as the Mighty Travel Mug remains on any flat non-porous surface (such as your desk, of course), it will be able to firmly grip the area just like how a stubborn gecko does it. The mug is nigh impossible to tip over, making it impervious to accidental knocks as well as reckless arm movements. Not only that, you need not tug at it as though you want to pull out the sword from the magic stone to prove that you are worthy to be king whenever you want to drink, as all you need to do is pick it up normally and the Mighty Travel Mug would detach itself in a jiffy.
