Omron Walking Posture Meter Lets You Know If You’ve A Graceful Walk[CEATEC 2013] Being graceful is one thing, but going to finishing school can cause quite a hit on your parents’ bank account. Why, there is an app for that, thanks to the folks over at Omron who have introduced their “Omron Walking Posture Meter HJA-600T Walk Scan” sometime in September, although it has been demonstrated on the CEATEC showfloor this time around. Basically, this device will require just 10 steps before it makes an evaluation of one’s walking posture.

    Omron’s Okao Vision Takes A Guess At Your Age[CEATEC 2013] Machine vision is an idea that certainly has its fair share of practical applications, especially in the manufacturing lines of factories which are able to spot flaws, even minute ones, that the average human eye is unable to do so. Combine the fact that such high level precision works without getting tired or suffer from drowsiness, and you’ve got quite a winner here. Are there any other practical applications in the real world that machine vision can be applied? Omron has showcased their Okao Vision system which as you can see in the image above, saw some doe-eyed folks staring at a camera which will then identify the person’s face, making the relevant analysis before revealing one’s possible age based on a best guess basis.

    Is that tasty baked snack still too hot to eat? Omron’s D6T contactless infrared thermal sensor should take the guesswork out of it and help to avoid future cases of burny-mouth. Hook it up to a phone, point it at food or drink, and it’ll display heat levels on-screen. Aside from snack safety, the device is also intended as a general presence sensor. The thermal detection negates the need for motion tracking and allows for additional features, such as power saving (switching off lights etc.) when people aren’t around. Want to see it in action?
