HTC One Max Will Not Be Headed To Canada

HTC One Max Will Not Be Headed To CanadaGiven that Canada and the US are considered North American markets, usually devices released in the US are usually released in Canada as well. Unfortunately this is not always the case as HTC’s Canadian arm has basically confirmed that the recently announced HTC One Max will not be making its way into Canada, at least not anytime soon. According to the folks at MobileSyrup, the official statement by HTC Canada reads, “HTC devices differ from country to country, we work closely with carrier partners in each region to determine what is best for their consumers. Every market is different and has specific needs and demands. We consider a number of factors such as, the HTC devices currently available, the competition etc. At this time the current HTC line up of devices is sufficient for the Canadian marketplace.”

Given that HTC isn’t exactly enjoying financial success at the moment, one would think that the company would try to cover as many markets as possible, but we guess this is their current strategy for now. In the meantime for our Canadian readers who would love to get their hands on the HTC One Max, you guys will need to cross the border or keep an eye out for grey imports if you wish to own the device on an unofficial basis. No word if HTC plans to introduce the handset later, but for now you guys would be out of luck.

HTC Comments On One Max’s Fingerprint Security

HTC Comments On One Maxs Fingerprint SecurityAfter being rumored and teased for so long, the HTC One Max has finally been revealed, with the device’s specs being in accordance to the rumors, along with the fingerprint sensor which was also one of the rumored features of the phone. Given that fingerprints can be used as a form of ID and sometimes even a digital signature, we’re sure there are some who are worried about third-party apps having access to it, or even the government, which is why the folks at PhoneArena decided to ask HTC about the feature. They asked if the data would be stored in a similar fashion as to how the iPhone 5s stores fingerprints, and this is what HTC had to say.

“The fingerprint data is stored in local memory. It is encrypted and stored in the system partition, which can’t be readily accessed or copied. The fingerprint data is not an actual image but fingerprint characteristics that have been identified by a proprietary algorithm. No, HTC does not have access to the information and the fingerprint cannot be used by a third party.” Hopefully HTC’s statement will be enough to appease those who are concerned about their privacy and security. So what do you guys think? Do you plan on using the One Max’s Fingerprint Scan feature extensively?

    HTC One max officially announced

htc-one-maxIs bigger better? That certainly does seem to be the case when it comes to smartphones, as a brand new genre of sorts known as the “phablet” was born some time back where it straddles the line between a smartphone and a tablet. HTC might be a beleaguered company financially at the moment after seeing their market share shrink from time to time due to the intense competition around them, but this has not stopped them from churning out new devices from time to time, and their latest effort arrives in the form of the HTC One max.

The HTC One max will basically be a larger version of the award winning HTC One, where it will include the performance as well as sleek design of the HTC One, albeit in a larger form factor. Not only that, it will also arrive with a bunch of other acclaimed features such as HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound, which will all work alongside the spanking new HTC Sense 5.5 that will aim to deliver the best overall smartphone experience – on a larger screen, of course.

Your eyes will definitely appreciate the HTC One max’s 5.9″ Full HD 1080p display that makes it ideal for enjoying photos, videos and movies whenever you are on the move. Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor that will be accompanied by a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU, it should be able to handle all high graphics intensive apps without batting an eyelid. The HTC One max will also arrive with 16GB or 32GB of storage space on-board, that can be augmented via a microSD memory card slot. Oh yeah, did you know that HTC One max owners will also be able to pick up 50GB of additional free Google Drive online storage?

Pricing details remain to be determined as at press time, but you can be sure that the HTC One max will roll out worldwide from the end of October onward.

HTC One Max Confirmed To Get Fingerprint Scanner, Says WSJ

HTC One Max Confirmed To Get Fingerprint Scanner, Says WSJThe Wall Street Journal has reported that HTC is all set to show off the HTC One Max that will arrive with an integrated fingerprint sensor, although it remains to be seen whether this particular combination of the fingerprint sensor as well as a generous display will be able to arrest HTC’s slide at the moment. Having been rumored for months on end already, the HTC One Max will be the second mobile device under the umbrella of smartphones to deliver a fingerprint sensor, with the iPhone 5s from Apple being the first. This confirmation is definitely more than welcome considering how we were just talking about a rumor of it earlier on.

Just how will HTC make use of the fingerprint sensor on the HTC One Max remains to be seen, but if it were to be a close replica of what the iPhone 5s has been doing all along such as to unlock the device and to authorize iTunes purchases (of course, in the One Max’s case, it would be to authorize Google Play purchases), then it might be seen as a copycat. We would like to see HTC make a revolutionary leap though in this case, and cannot wait for the HTC One Max to finally arrive.

HTC Sends Out Invites For 16th/18th October Event In Hong Kong And Taiwan

HTC Sends Out Invites For 16th/18th October Event In Hong Kong And TaiwanAccording to earlier rumors, it was speculated that the HTC One Max phablet could see a launch on the 17th of October. Interestingly enough it turns out that the rumor was semi-accurate because according to recent invitations that have been sent out (via Engadget), HTC has announced events in both Hong Kong and Taiwan on the 16th and 18th of October respectively. Given that Taiwan’s event is held on the 18th and due to the timezone difference, it is possible that the 17th of October date is true as it might still be the 17th in a different part of the world. However we’re not sure why HTC has decided to hold two separate events, especially only days apart.

According to the event which was written in Chinese, it reads, “One finger opens up a big view” and You are invited to immerse in the sound with us”, possibly hinting at the HTC One Max’s rumored fingerprint scanner and inclusion of Beats Audio respectively. In any case we are looking forward to the official announcement and put an end to all the rumors and speculation, so if the HTC One Max is a device you would love to get your hands on, despite it using a slightly less powerful processor in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (versus the Snapdragon 800), check back with us on those dates for the details!

HTC One Max May Include Fingerprint Scanner [Rumor]

HTC One Max May Include Fingerprint Scanner [Rumor]

When Apple introduced its iPhone 5S, they certainly made a bold statement by including a fingerprint scanner on their smartphone as a way to make it more secure from those who shouldn’t be using the device. Now it looks like other smartphone manufacturers might be following suit as HTC is rumored to be including a fingerprint scanner onto their HTC One Max.

The rumor of the HTC One Max possibly featuring a fingerprint scanner is originating from some newly leaked images of the device that suggests a scanner might be included onto the upcoming phablet. The leaked images popped up on Chinese social network Sina Weibo and show the HTC One Max’s back is removed to show what appears to be a fingerprint scanner sitting between the SIM slot and camera module.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it’d be interested to see why HTC decided to include the fingerprint scanner at the rear of the device underneath the camera. This would lead us to believe HTC wouldn’t be looking to scan the thumbs of its users, instead opting to go for a forefinger scanner, which we’re hoping would be easy to access or it could make reading them a real chore.

HTC One Max With Verizon Branding Spotted

HTC One Max With Verizon Branding SpottedWe have been hearing rumors that the upcoming HTC One Max will see a launch on both AT&T and Sprint, but it turns out that Verizon might be getting their hands on the device as well, thanks to a recently leaked photo which shows off the Verizon branding on the alleged device. According to the reports, the images were snapped by a Verizon sales rep who apparently was able to “confirm” that the handset would sport a removable rear panel as well as an integrated fingerprint scanner. In any case the HTC One Max is due for an announce in the coming week, with some rumors suggesting a 15th of October launch, with other rumors pointing at the 17th of October.

As far as the specs are concerned, nothing is official yet, but word on the street has it that it will sport a massive 5.9” display, giving the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 a run for its money. Oddly enough HTC has decided to equip the handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 800. Some are speculating that this is a way for HTC to keep costs down, although we’re sure that many will be disappointed. Granted the Snapdragon 600 is not exactly a slouch, but we’re sure there are users out there who would have preferred the handset to be on par with the competition. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us next week for the details!

Alleged New HTC One Max Photos Spotted

Alleged New HTC One Max Photos SpottedIt goes without saying that the closer a particular device is to being released in the market, the higher the chance of it being leaked out. As to whether the leak was done on purpose or otherwise, it remains to be seen. Having said that, we are not surprised to see just another bunch of HTC One Max photos running around in the wild, although this time around, it will not be all alone. The alleged HTC One Max seems to be compared to the HTC One, but there is also the rumor of a fingerprint scanner located on the back, right under the rear camera. It remains to be seen whether the sensor will eventually arrive in the retail version, so all we need to do is wait.

Other speculated hardware specifications include a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5.9” 1080p Super LCD3 display, an UltraPixel camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, and a battery of at least 3,200mAh in capacity. If this is a true blue phablet, then it would certainly be worth looking into as chances are it will make quite a splash when it finally arrives in the market. Pricing details, of course, remain to be determined.
