HTC One VX reportedly arriving on AT&T December 7th

The HTC One VX was expected to be released last month alongside the HTC One X+. While the One X+ did make its debut, the One VX was missing, and we’re sure that there are some who are wondering what happened to it. According to the folks at Android Central, they spoke to an AT&T spokesperson who told them that the carrier expects to stock the handset come 7th December which is in less than a week’s time. For those who forgot, the One VX is a mid-ranged Android handset where it will be priced at an affordable $50 along with a two-year contract.

Its specs are rather modest with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, a 4.5” Super LCD2 display, 8GB of internal storage, a 5MP rear-facing camera, 4G LTE compatibility with AT&T’s LTE network, and it will come with Android 4.0 ICS on board although it is expected to be upgraded to Android 4.1 at a later date. Not the most impressive Android handset, but at $50 with 4G LTE connectivity, we expect that it should have its fair share of customers. We’ll definitely be marking down the 7th of December on our calendars, so do check back with us then to see if the report pans out.

AT&T HTC One X+, One VX launch details leaked?

Here is the latest on the grapevine – it seems as though AT&T will be making available the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One X+ and the HTC One VX, as both smartphones seem scheduled for a release in the US later this Friday – which is November 16th. Of course, not everyone thinks that the HTC One X+ is the bee’s knees as it has not managed to ensure the HTC One X series is brought up to a whole new level, but at least it does fix some of the original One X’s shortcomings – mainly be noticeably faster compared to its predecessor. As for the mid-range HTC One VX, this is not as impressive, but it still packs quite a punch where hardware specifications are concerned, and to hear that it will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is definitely a boon.

The AT&T will sell the HTC One X+ for approximately $200 with a new 2-year contract, and the HTC One VX will be sold for a whole lot less – we are talking about approximately $50 on-contract. Anyone interested in picking up either one of the phones now that your contract is about to expire?

HTC One VX for AT&T hands-on: mid-range style on a budget (video)

HTC One VX for AT&T handson midrange style on a budget video

What do you get when you raid HTC’s parts bin and combine the camera from the One V, the screen resolution from the One S and the design language from the One X? Say hello to HTC’s One VX for AT&T, a stylish mid-range smartphone running Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4. It features a 4.5-inch qHD Super LCD 2 display with Gorilla Glass 2, Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor (MSM8930) with GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+/LTE radio, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 8GB of on-board storage and a five megapixel f/2.0 autofocus BSI camera with flash and 1080p video recording.

The front glass incorporates the earpiece, AT&T logo and VGA shooter up top along with the usual capacitive buttons (back, home and recent apps / menu) below the display. A silver plastic rim traces the sides of the handset — it’s a simple and familiar layout, with the power / lock key, headphone jack and secondary mic on top, micro-USB port and primary mic at the bottom, and the volume rocker on the right edge. Pop the white plastic back cover and you’ll find micro-SIM and microSD card slots, a non-removable 1810mAh battery and the NFC antenna.

Unfortunately, we were given a non-functional dummy unit to play with so we can’t comment on things like screen quality or subjective performance. We can tell you that the phone is light, thin and feels good in the hand — it slots somewhere between the One S and the One X in terms of size, and looks nice despite being made of cheaper materials than its stablemates. AT&T and HTC are still mum on availability but we were told to expect aggressive, budget-friendly pricing. Want to see more? Take a look at our gallery below and our hands-on video after the break.

Update: we expect to see a working One VX at today’s AT&T announcement so stay tuned for more impressions.

HTC One X+, One VX and Windows Phone 8X will be headed AT&T’s way

It was just yesterday that HTC officially announced the One X+, finally putting an end to the rumors and speculation. At that time the announcement was for European and South Asian markets but if you’re in the US and you were wondering when you will get the phone, you’re in luck as AT&T has announced that they will be the ones to carry the device. This is despite earlier rumors that suggested that T-Mobile would carry the device as well – that is still a possibility but for now, AT&T would be your go-to carrier.

AT&T also revealed that apart from the HTC One X+, they will be carrying the HTC One VX and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. The One VX is a device we haven’t heard of yet but apparently it is a phone designed for the low-end market with a 4.5” Gorilla Glass display and a 5MP camera. No word on pricing or availability, with AT&T just saying that it these new devices will be “coming soon”.

AT&T plans to carry HTC One X, introduces One VX

HTC decided to reveal the oft-rumored One X+ earlier this morning, and it didn’t take long for AT&T to announce its intent to carry the device in the “coming months.” Fans acquainted with the original AT&T One X won’t find much different on the outside — we’re still looking at a 4.7-inch Super LCD2 720p display, 8MP BSI f/2.0 rear camera with ImageSense and gorgeous polycarbonate build. Indeed, it’s what’s inside the LTE-capable phone that counts: a 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chipset, an impressive 64GB internal memory (nice, given the device still lacks microSD support), Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ and a nicely improved 2,100mAh battery.

That’s not all, folks: AT&T’s also introducing another HTC handset for its mid-range lineup known as the One VX (pictured above on the right). The device, which utilizes a 4.5-inch qHD Super LCD2 display, is packing Android 4.0 (upgradeable to Jelly Bean after launch), a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM 8930 with 1GB RAM, LTE, a 5MP BSI f/2.0 ImageSense camera capable of shooting 1080p video, a VGA front-facing cam, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio and 8GB internal storage. How about dimensions? It measures in at 9.19mm (0.36 inch) thick and weighs 4.4 ounces (124.7g), so it’s slightly thicker and lighter than the One X+. We’re quite curious to hear details on pricing and availability, but we haven’t heard anything aside from the coming months (we’d like to believe, however, that AT&T wouldn’t wait until after the holidays to push this out). Hopefully we’ll get to play with the new device soon, but feel free to check out our galleries of picture-perfect press images below.
