Another alleged HTC One X+/Endeavor C2 photo surfaces

The other day a photo was leaked which some have speculated could be HTC’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note. Unfortunately due to the nature of the photo, it was hard to gauge just how big the display is, let alone its exact dimensions. Well another photo has been recently leaked although we’re not sure if it’s the same photo or a photo of the same phone, or it could be an entirely new device altogether.

According to the Chinese forums, this device is expected to be known as the HTC One X+, or the Endeavor C2, which according to past rumors is a beefed up version of the One X. If the rumors are true, it will sport a faster 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra-3 quad-core processor along with more RAM. Like we said earlier, it’s hard to tell if the phone in the photo has a larger 5” display or if it will sport a 4.7” one like its predecessor.

One of the most-anticipated devices from HTC is the HTC Desire X. The device is expected to be unveiled during IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany. A recent leak hinted at the specifications of the device which include a 4” Super LCD Display with WVGA resolution, a 5-megapixel camera and 1GHz dual core processor.

Other purposed specs of the device include 768MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 25 GB of Dropbox space for 2 years and Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be part of the device right out of the box and not as an update. It will also come equipped with HTC Image Sense chip and a microSD memory card slot. (more…)

HTC CEO issues rallying call to staff, tells them to ‘kill bureaucracy’

HTC CEO issues rallying call to staff

HTC’s Peter Chou is having his own “burning platform” moment after sending a company-wide email, leaked to Bloomberg, entitled “We are coming back.” The CEO, shocked at recent sales dips has talked of a company lacking “decision, strategic direction or [a] sense of urgency” and requested that employees should “kill bureaucracy.” He praised the success of the well-lauded One X, but said that the company’s own “processes, rules and norms” could be stumbling blocks, instead urging employees to “follow rules and criteria, but don’t let small things kill the major goals.” The missive has already been confirmed as real by an HTC spokesperson, who probably promptly burned a stack of TPS reports to demonstrate their commitment.

HTC One X receives Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update with Jelly Bean on the way

It looks as though the HTC One X is on the up – where the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer did mention that they will be introducing a minor update to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system which will deliver a modified version of its Sense UI. Not only that, even better news is HTC’s commitment to bring Android 4.1 Jelly Bean over to the HTC One X. According to a HTC spokesperson, the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich rollout will begin from today onwards in the UK, although timings for the other regions will vary.

HTC’s statement mentioned, “The primary update will include an upgrade to Android version 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), in addition to an improved Sense experience which will enable the ability to map menu functions to the ‘recent app’ key — improving visual presentation in non-ICS apps like Facebook — and improve tab management in the browser with a dedicated tab-switching button.”

Do expect additional improvements such as a refined white balance and a continuous auto-focus mode for the camera, not to mention a single sign-on for Facebook across websites and apps. No idea on when Android. 4.1 Jelly Bean update will arrive though, but patience is the best policy.

HTC One X gets Android 4.0.4 update today: enhances camera app, adds menu functionality to multitasking button

If you thought the One X‘s capacitive button layout jarred with the Ice Cream Sandwich experience you saw on the Galaxy Nexus, you’ll like what HTC’s just told us. An update to version 4.0.4, launching today, will allow users to map menu functionality to the lower right ‘recent app’ key, while it will also treat its owners to white balance and continuous autofocus improvements within its well-received camera app. Expect a handful of stability improvements as well as a dedicated tab switcher for the built-in browser — if you haven’t already made the leap to Chrome. According to HTC, the update for the international iteration rolls out today, with the AT&T version already doing the rounds. The full statement’s included below. Let us know how you get on.

HTC Sense 4.1 reportedly leaked with custom ROM, One X owners taste the future

HTC Sense 41 reportedly leaked with custom ROM, One X owners taste the future

It feels like just yesterday that we were getting acquainted with the back-to-basics ways of HTC’s Sense 4.0. Well-known HTC phone modder Football doesn’t want us to get comfy: he claims to have both obtained a leaked version of Sense 4.1’s ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) and folded it into the 2.2 update to his Maximus firmware for the international One X. While it’s no Jelly Bean, the Maximus-tuned version of HTC’s Android 4.0 flavor appears to give Sense a shot in the arm, taking care of lag in the launcher and live wallpapers in addition to delivering a healthy overall speed boost. That 0.1 numbering gives a good indication of just how light the visible feature set might be, though — other than an existing update to substitute the virtual menu button for a long-press of the home key, the interface changes are mostly limited to dedicated buttons for switching browser tabs and between different cameras. It’s no surprise that HTC hasn’t said a word about its own plans; rumors of new One devices, however, can’t help but fuel suspicions that Sense 4.1 is just around the bend.

HTC Sense 4.1 for the international One X leaked

One of the drawbacks to custom UIs used by manufacturers to set themselves apart from the competition is that they can be bloated. Thanks to these bloated UIs, many Android users have found themselves turning to custom ROMs which provides a cleaner UI minus the bloat, making it a more speedy experience. If you’re looking for that kind of experience on your HTC device, you might be interested to learn that a ROM based on a yet-to-be-released skin for the international HTC One X has been released on the XDA forums. Based on Sense 4.1, this new skin is said to be fast and has managed to obtain a score of 5900+ on Quadrant. However since we have yet to try this out for ourselves, we can’t really confirm those numbers. However if you’d like to give this ROM a go, you can head on over to the XDA forums for the download, or check out the changelog below for the details. (more…)
