Oppo N1 Might Be The First CyanogenMod Powered Smartphone

CyanogenMod custom ROMs for the Android OS are without a doubt one of the widely used ROMs. Cyanogen is actually now a company, it announced yesterday that it has raised $7 million in funding, which it is going to put towards making CyanogenMod the third most popular mobile operating system out there. This goal entails that Cyanogen overtake Windows Phone and BlackBerry, it won’t be able to do that if it doesn’t have any hardware partners. Earlier today it was rumored that perhaps HTC might be the a hardware partner for Cyanogen. It appears though that the first partner might be China’s Oppo.

Oppo has been teasing its N1 smartphone for quite a while, it is due to announce the smartphone at an event in Beijing on September 23rd. The company has now posted a new video which features Steve Kondik, the founder of Cynaogen, himself. He says in the video that he’s “looking forward” to attend Oppo’s event later this week, he also says that “we have exciting news ahead,” wonder if this news is the possibility that Oppo N1 might be the first smartphone to ship with CyanogenMod pre-installed? The Oppo N1 is scheduled to be unveiled on September 23rd, we’ll know for sure then.

Oppo N1 To Feature Snapdragon 800 Processor And Swappable Camera System

Oppo N1 To Feature Snapdragon 800 Processor And Swappable Camera SystemThe Oppo N1 marks yet another notable achievement by China-based smartphone manufacturers, as it will fly the flagship banner on behalf of Oppo. We have heard previous rumors about this particular device being announced officially this coming September 23rd, but before that, how about having fun with a little bit more rumors and whispers surrounding the device? This time around, word on the street has it that the Oppo N1 would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor that ought to deliver more than enough processing firepower to get the job done.

Not only that, there will be the rather unorthodox dual touch inputs that might help set it apart from the rest of the high end crowd. So far, the HSPA+ Snapdragon processor (MSM8274) was paraded in a leaked photo of the Oppo N1′s internals, allegedly by an Oppo marketing exec on Sina Weibo. The very same leaked photo that you see above also does seem to depict a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. Are you stoked and interested in picking up the Oppo N1 when it is finally available at your local market, or would you still be holding out for a totally different smartphone by a more “established” manufacturer?

Oppo N1 Launches On September 23rd

Oppo N1 Launches On September 23rd

A few weeks ago we picked up on rumors that Oppo, a mobile phone manufacturer based in China, was launching a new “N-lens” smartphone that would give the likes of HTC One and Lumia 1020 a run for their money. It was rumored that this Oppo smartphone would challenge the camera quality of both of these devices. We’ve come to know since then that this smartphone is going to be called Oppo N1 and that it will be released next month. Today Oppo has confirmed that the N1 launch takes place on September 23rd.

The leaked specs of Oppo N1 suggest that it will have a 5.5 inch full 1080p HD display. Under the hood it is expected to have a NVIDIA Tegra 4 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The Oppo N1 is also said to have buttons on the back, much like the LG G2. For pricing and availability information we’ll have to wait until next month. It remains to be seen if this smartphone will be offered outside of China. Usually Chinese manufacturers don’t release their smartphones outside of some major Asian markets. Will the Oppo N1 meet the same fate? We’ll find that out for sure at the event on September 23rd. [Image via GSMInsider]

Oppo N1 Rear Touch Panel Confirmed

Oppo N1 Rear Touch Panel ConfirmedChinese manufacturer Oppo is said to be working on a new smartphone which is called the Oppo N1, and while there were initial whispers of a rear touch panel making its way to the handset, here we are with further confirmation. This particular touch panel that will be located on the upcoming flagship Oppo N1’s back does remind us of the volume keys that have been evicted from the sides and sent right to the bottom of the LG G2 where a major makeover is concerned, and Oppo themselves have already posted up an image to illustrate the position of the touch panel – where it would placed in the upper part of the back cover, which would mean it is right below the camera of the Oppo N1.

What do you think that Oppo will call this particular technology? We do know that China will be on the receiving end of a rather massive marketing campaign in order to promote the upcoming Oppo N1, including teasing it with images of an exposed back of a woman (that ought to draw more than its fair share of attention) as well as a toilet paper roll. Provocative at times, weird during others, it remains to be seen whether the high expectations surrounding the Oppo N1 will be able to be justified or not.

Oppo reveals more about N1’s backside touch as pics leak out

    Image

Buttons and trackpads on the back of mobile devices? It’s becoming a trend. Oppo has revealed that users will be able to scroll, double click and long press with the backside touch feature of the forthcoming Oppo N1. Apparently it’ll be possible to swipe through pages (or change songs), activate and control the camera or bind the actions to other apps as you see fit. At the same time, the N1’s chassis has been snapped in this rather beautifully composed rumorgram shot, so you can see exactly what you’ll be reaching around when this unit gets an official announcement in September.

    Oppo N1 Gets September Launch

Oppo N1 Gets September LaunchIt was just earlier this morning when we talked about the Oppo R819 that claimed to be the “thinnest and lightest smartphone” in the world, and this time around we have word that the Oppo N1, yet another handset from the Chinese manufacturer, is all set to be launched next month. This particular device does seem to shape up to be part of the Oppo N-Lens Series which was leaked some weeks ago, where it is deemed to throw down with the likes of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and HTC One when it comes to camera quality. The Oppo N1 will be the 2013 flagship model and it will definitely ship with the Oppo N-Lens which will deliver additional features to the smartphone’s camera so that it can have a shot at being the best in the field in that particular department.

The Oppo N1 will be powered by the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, where the display will be Full HD to be on par with the best out there, apart from a very real possibility of a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running proceedings from underneath the hood. Do you think that this bad boy will be able to carve a name for itself in the highly competitive high end smartphone market?
