LG Optimus G Pro due in 40 more countries this quarter, probably not the UK

    LG Optimus G Pro

Having earned some respect here in the US and on its home turf, the LG Optimus G Pro is about ready to hit stores in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Latin America. Reasons to be interested? The big, user-replaceable battery is certainly one, while the remarkably good 1080p 5.5-inch IPS LCD display is another — oh, and don’t forget dual-camera video recording either. Unfortunately, the Korean press release makes no specific mention of availability on UK carriers, and LG has been cautious about supporting the country’s “immature” LTE scene in the past, so we’re not sure if this handset will ever be available to Brits except on import. We’ve emailed a UK rep to ask if that stance has perhaps changed at all, and to chat about the (currently glorious) weather.

Update: There’s “no further update from a UK availability perspective”, which sounds like a “no.” However, it is indeed sunny.

LGs Optimus G Pro launching across Asia in June

Right now, Asians who want LG’s Optimus G Pro have to make a sneaky trip over to South Korea, but not for much longer. The handset will begin rolling out across the continent through June, starting in Hong Kong and spreading to places like Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia before the end of that month. Just remember, that unlike the Galaxy Note II, you’ll have to spring for the stylus yourself.

LG LS980 Could Be Sprint’s Version Of The Optimus G Pro With An Upgrade Processor

LG LS980 Could Be Sprints Version Of The Optimus G Pro With An Upgrade ProcessorAs it stands, the LG Optimus G Pro is an AT&T exclusive, although it seems that a variant of the phone could be making its way onto Sprint’s network down the line, thanks to a mysterious LG device making an appearance on Sprint’s User Agent Profile. The UAP reveals a certain LG device with a 1080p Full HD display and with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board. The device has been given the model number LS980 which seems to be somewhat similar to the LG Optimus G Pro on AT&T whose model is the E980.

However what is interesting is how the UAP has listed the L980 to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 M8974 processor on board, which seems to be an upgrade over the LG Optimus G Pro which is using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset. There is a chance that Sprint’s version of the Optimus G Pro could sport an upgraded processor, but then again it seems that it is more likely that Sprint could instead be getting their hands on the Optimus G Pro’s sequel.
