LG to announce Optimus G US release next week?

LG teased us earlier with a new promo ad that boasted their Optimus G’s 13MP camera, and as much as we’d love to get our hands on the phone and try it for ourselves, a release date still remains a mystery but according to the folks at CNET, LG is expected to be hosting an event in NYC on the 19th of September, while another event will be held in South Korea on the 18th of September. While it is unclear as to what LG will be announcing, it has been speculated that the company could be announcing release dates for the LG Optimus G in the US. Given that the US market is one of the largest in the world to break into, and given the specs of the handset, we’re sure that not only is LG eager to offer it up to US customers, but US customers are probably just as eager to get their hands on it. If the Optimus G’s specs have impressed you, be sure to check back with us on the 19th of September for the details.

New LG Optimus G promo video released, promises “world beating image quality” from its camera

LG’s Optimus G Android smartphone while certainly sporting some extremely powerful specs has yet to be released, but LG is looking to keep it in the forefront of our minds by releasing a new promo video (after this teaser not too long ago) where emphasis was placed on the phone’s camera. LG claims that this camera will be of “world beating image quality” but we guess we will have to take it for a spin to see if LG’s claims are true! So far companies such as Apple, Samsung, Nokia and Sony have done a pretty good job when it comes to cameras on their smartphones, so we guess LG is looking to step up to the plate. LG did note on its YouTube video (above) that for some markets, the 13MP image sensor will be replaced by an 8MP one instead. In any case if the LG Optimus G is a phone you’re looking forward to, check out the video above.

LG Optimus G gets a new teaser video to remind us of its presence

A couple of weeks ago we reported that LG had officially announced the Optimus G, which safe to say is probably their best phone to date and can probably compete with the higher-end Android smartphones in the market. Pricing and availability was not mentioned at that time, probably due to LG making arrangements with carriers, but it looks like LG has decided to tease us with the phone in a recently released video, and to probably keep the device fresh in our minds what with the iPhone 5 announcement taking place next week, and phones from Nokia like the Lumia 920 which has the mobile industry in a buzz. You can check out the teaser video above but unfortunately it doesn’t tell us anything new, but we guess it should help whet some appetites and appease those who are pretty sure that this will be their new phone.

LG Optimus G is first LTE smartphone with quad-core Snapdragon processor in the world

LG breaks new ground yet again with the introduction of the LG Optimus G, which is touted to be the first LTE smartphone in the world to carry a quad-core Snapdragon processor. There is definitely no doubt right from the very beginning that this will be a high-end smartphone, delivering powerful performance right out of the box while coming in an elegant and sleek design, in addition to offering an innovative user experience. Since it is the first LTE device in the world that features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-Core processor, you can be sure that the LG Optimus G will be the prime example for all future flagship handsets from the good people at LG.

Just what kind of hardware specifications can you expect from LG’s flagship smartphone? Well for starters, it will not only deliver LTE supported capabilities, the LG Optimus G will also feature the latest generation Adreno 320 GPU for all your mobile graphics needs. The Snapdragon S4 Pro will clock in at 1.5GHz, delivering Asynchronous Symmetric Multiprocessing (aSMP) that is said to allow each core to power up and down independently, which is good news for the handset’s battery as every single drop of juice will be maximized in this manner. As for the Adreno 320, it is touted to deliver more than three times the speed of the Adreno 225 which can be found in previous Snapdragon processors.

Thanks to assistance from LG Display, the LG Optimus G will come with a beautiful 4.7″ WXGA True HD IPS+ Display with 320ppi high pixel density (1280×768 pixels) and Stripe RGB IPS Panel with 15:9 aspect ratio. You know that this is a beauty right from the get go, where the display offers sharper and crisper images with color accuracy of sRGB 100% to showcase natural and life-like images.

You can perform Live Zooming that enables zooming in and out while viewing a video, while the Dual Screen Dual Play feature enables mirroring between the smartphone and a TV, in addition to displaying different content on each screen. The LG Optimus G will come with 32GB of internal memory, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity, USB 2.0 support, A-GPS, DLNA and NFC capabilities. It has a 13-megapixel at the back and a 1.3-megapixel in front. Any takers for the new superphone?

LG Optimus G makes its official debut with Qualcomm’s quad-core processor on board

It wasn’t too long ago that the LG Optimus G’s specs were leaked, and while leaks should be taken with a degree of skepticism, LG confirmed it by launching a website dedicated to their next-gen smartphone which many believed would be called the LG Optimus G. Well the good news for folks eagerly anticipating the device is that LG has officially taken the wraps off the handset and has introduced the LG Optimus G to the world. As per earlier reports, the Optimus G has been confirmed to sport a Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor and the Adreno 320 GPU, which at the same time happens to be compatible with global 3G and 4G LTE radios. However given there are over 50 4G LTE bands worldwide, there is the off-chance that your carrier may not be supported.

The LG Optimus G also features a 4.7” 1280×768 True HD IPS+ display, 2GB of RAM, a whopping 13MP rear-facing camera, a 2,100mAh battery (which purportedly is more efficient than regular smartphone batteries, although we’ll probably need to do some testing to see if LG’s claims are true), and will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich preinstalled. The LG Optimus G is expected to hit the Korean market next month and will also launch on Japan’s NTT DoCoMo by October/November, albeit with a slightly different design. The international rollout has been planned for a later date although no specific dates or a timeframe has been given. There was no word on when it will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean either, but given that this will be LG’s brand new flagship device, we expect the upgrade shouldn’t be too far behind (fingers crossed!). LG Optimus G revealed 15GHz quadcore CPU, ICS, LTE, 47inch screen with incell touch

LG has been teasing its upcoming Optimus G smartphone for weeks after promising LTE phones that would be “second to none” and now we finally have the full specs. When it arrives in Korea next month it will be the first with LTE mounted to a quad-core CPU, thanks to the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 at its center. The display is also groundbreaking, featuring LG’s fully integrated touch technology — sounds like its new in-cell touch to us –for a thinner screen and bezel. It’s a True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD, and LG claims when it’s turned off the 3mm bezel and body of the phone match the screen when it’s turned off. Just the leaks indicated, it also has 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 2,100mAh battery, all while measuring only 8mm thick.

The only bad news so far? It will arrive in Korea next month (and on NTT Docomo in October or November as the L-01E in black and red, seen after the break) with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not Jelly Bean. The software will be as we’ve seen on other high-powered LG units like the Optimus Vu, with the addition of a “live zoom” feature on video and Dual Screen Dual Play mirroring for external displays. The real triumph for LG however, is its ability to vertically integrate technology from its various units to create the device. LG Chem provided a battery that is the first to offer a lifespan of 800 cycles, while LG Display created the screen and partnered with LG Innotek on the G2 Touch Hybrid Display unibody tech that eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel. A worldwide launch is promised later in the year, although we’d expect to hear more soon at IFA 2012.

Update: The English PR is now available and embedded after the break. Check it out for the full specs, including the Optimus G’s Adreno 320 GPU, Bluetooth 4.0, MHL and NFC capabilities and more software enhancements including Time Catch Shot picture selection and Cheese Shutter voice command to take a picture.
