Pac Seat is the Best Seat in the House, Unless You’re a Ghost

This Pac-Man chair named the Pac Seat would look perfect in my living room. I’m a sucker for retro Pac-Man stuff. This seat, designed by Bruno Marques is great. I love the clean and simple design. Plus, when you are seated, it looks like Pac-Man is eating you.

Anyone can sit on this chair safely, unless you are a ghost. If you are a ghost, this Pac-Man seat will eat you and then probably belch. Also, I don’t advise sitting on one if you are a cherry, strawberry, orange, apple, melon, bell, key or a Galaxian spaceship.

Bruno designed this chair for kids, but let’s be honest, this is for us geeks who are old enough to have played the game back in the 80′s. Give me some ghost tables now, and I would be completely happy.

Gravity-Controlled Pac-Man Is Now Available for iOS and Android—and It Looks Quite Fun

I thought Not Pacman—a version of Pac-Man that uses gravity to control the yellow hungry monster—was awesome and needed to be ported to iOS and Android ASAP. Gizmodo reader Pierre-Yves Gatouillat agreed with that opinion and he did just that. He sent this via email: More »

Gravity-Controlled Pac-Man Must Come to My Phone *ASAP*

Not Pacman is the Pac-Man I want to play right now. Sadly, this wicked, mind-twisting, gravity-controlled version of Pac-Man is available only for Windows, OS X and Linux. Fortunately, the source code is available, so perhaps someone will port to iOS/Android/Windows Phone as soon as possible. [Stabyourself via Crackajack via Animal NY] More »

Not Pac-Man Will Spin You Right Round, Like a Record Baby

So now that you’ve finally memorized all of the patterns to beat Pac-Man, what are you going to do with all of that spare time on your hands? Well, you could move on to Ms. Pac-Man, I suppose, or you could try this game, which starts out looking like Pac-Man, but then quickly degrades into insanity.

not pac man

Created by the appropriately-named Stabyourself.net, Not Pac-Man is just that. NOT Pac-Man. On the surface it looks like the classic arcade game, but as soon as you start playing it you realize something is amiss. Instead of you moving Pac-Man, you move the maze with your mouse or keyboard, causing the ghosts and Pac-Man to go tumbling through the spinning maze. The objectives are the same as the original, but the gameplay is completely different. It’s sort of like one of those labyrinth games, but with Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde instead of ball bearings. Confused? Here, this should set you straight:

It’s definitely wacky, but infinitely more playable than Zero-G Pac-Man at least. So if you’re ready to try out Not Pac-Man for yourself, head on over to Stabyourself.net and download it now – where it’s available for not just Windows, but for Mac and Linux too. Wocka! Wocka! Wocka!

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Chomps Its Way To Windows 8

Pac Man Championship Edition DX Chomps Its Way To Windows 8One of my absolute favorite arcade games to play on a lazy Sunday has got to be Namco Bandai’s Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. The game is absolutely amazing and adds a number of new, incredible game modes to the classic Pac-Man formula. The game has been released on console and mobile, but has yet to make its way to the PC. Namco Bandai has finally announced Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is now available on the Windows 8 platform through the Windows Store.

“We’re very excited that PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX is available on Windows 8,” says Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. “The PC has always been a popular gaming platform, combine that fact with the capabilities of Windows 8 and you get a great system for NAMCO BANDAI to deliver its most popular titles to an enthusiastic audience.”

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX includes a number of modes like Score Attack, Time Trials and Ghost Combo and will set you back $10. If you have a classic joystick as a part of your PC set up, then you owe it to yourself to pick up this game. If not, well, we still encourage you to play it as it will have you thinking of Pac-Man in a completely different way. Kind of like how Wicked made people actually care about the Wicked Witch of the West.

The official Pac-Man Ghost lamp might appeal to fans

With Pac-Man being pretty much one of the classic games of all time, it is safe to assume that many gamers out there have fond memories of playing the game, or maybe even new gamers who have discovered the game through a web interface or via an app. In any case if you’re a gamer looking to show off your love of the game, it looks like this officially licensed Pac-Man Ghost lamp could be worth adding to your collection of Pac-Man memorabilia – either that or you’re in the market for a unique looking lamp.

Now instead of being your run-of-the-mill table or bedside lamp, this Ghost lamp actually comes with a remote control that allows you to change its color (you get 16 colors to choose from), and a variety of different lighting options such as Strobe, Flash, Dim or Smooth Fade. Priced at around $56 after conversion, it might seem a little pricey for what seems like a novelty lamp, but at the same time we’re sure that many Pac-Man fans out there will be able to justify its asking price. For those willing to spend that money, you will be able to order one for yourself via Firebox’ website.

Pac-Man Ghost Lamps Get Officially Licensed, Officially Awesome

A while back, I found some lamps that were pretty reminiscent of the ghosts from Pac-Man. However, they weren’t officially-licensed, and they looked really cheaply made. On the other hand, these new Pac-Man lamps are totally official, plus they look like they’re well built and have a few other tricks up their sleeves. Ghosts do have sleeves, don’t they?

These ghosts have one big feature absent from the cheaper clones from last year. Each official Pac-Man ghost lamp includes a wireless remote control, which lets you set your ghost to one of sixteen colors. Want Blinky red? Check. Inky cyan? Yap. Pinky pink? Absolutely? Clyde orange? Indeed. Blue ghost blue? Of course. You can even make up new ghost colors and names. Personally, I like the idea of a purple ghost named “Barney”.

You can also set the lamps to blink, flash, dim, fade and strobe modes if you like ghosts at your raves. The ghosts also look like they’re floating above the surface of your desk for added effect.

The Pac-Man ghost lamp is available now over at Firebox for about $56(USD), and if you order now, you should be able to get one in hand in time for Christmas gift-giving.

Now all we need is a Pac-Man lamp to go with, and we’ll be all set.

Pac-Man Paper Clips Bring a Glimmer of Whimsy To Your Soul-Crushing Office Gig

Pac-Man Ghost Lamp

So, you have a very soft spot for all of those retro video games that you grew up with, ranging from Centipede to Dig Dug, Asteroids, and of course, the wakka-wakka sound of Pac-Man. Here we are with a blast from the past, although this would mean you are on the bad guys’ side this time around with the £34.99 Pac-Man Ghost Lamp. There is nothing quite as classic as Pac-Man, where this is one of the four ghosts that go around haunting Pac-Man – at least until he gets to a nearby Power Pill and turns the tables on them ghosties.

The Pac-Man Ghost Lamp does what it does best – lighting up your room with a ghostly glow, and not only that, it can be remote controlled and is a 100% authentic lamp to light up your room (or wherever else you decide to place it). Unlike the ghosts in the original Pac-Man game, the Pac-Man Ghost Lamp is capable of delivering a spectrum of 16 different colors in a range of settings, among them Strobe, Flash, Dim and Smooth Fade. While this is not an actual ghost, you will need to ensure it remains plugged into the mains at all times to work.
