ASUS PadFone Infinity Teaser Video Released

Earlier we had reported that ASUS was set to announce the company’s upcoming PadFone Infinity which will be making its debut next week during an event held in Taipei, Taiwan. At that time ASUS had only sent out an invite, but has since released a rather cheeky video which shows the smartphone portion of the combo “launching” from the tablet. The video is under 10 seconds long but surprisingly pretty entertaining.

For those unfamiliar with the PadFone Infinity, the device was announced earlier this year at MWC 2013, but unfortunately the device was not made available for purchase in the US. This led to speculation that ASUS was looking to beef up the device to prime it for a release for the US market, and benchmark sightings have suggested that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset could be making its way into the device. A rumor further down the line even saw the handset portion of the combo pictured along with a possible launch date in September, and we guess that is really going to happen.

In any case if you have a few seconds to spare you should check out the video above, and check back with us next week for the details.

ASUS’ New PadFone Infinity Spotted In Benchmarks With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800

ASUS New PadFone Infinity Spotted In Benchmarks With Qualcomms Snapdragon 800Earlier this year at MWC 2013, ASUS announced the PadFone Infinity, an upgraded and redesigned version of the PadFone 2. While the PadFone Infinity is available for purchase in the US, it is via unofficial channels and there are some who are still waiting for an official release, possibly with carrier partnership to help subsidize the cost of the device. Unfortunately we are still waiting for such a thing to happen, but a recent benchmark sighting might be able to explain why no US availability has been announced yet. (more…)

Asus Padfone Infinity Goes On Sale In The US

Asus Padfone Infinity Goes On Sale In The USWe first spotted the Asus Padfone Infinity at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this year, and late last month, pre-orders for the Asus Padfone Infinity was opened last month with an April release date confirmed. Good to know that Asus has kept their side of the bargain, where they have started to ship the first batch of the Padfone Infinity stock. Apparently, a retailer in the US has started to offer the Asus Padfone Infinity smartphone for $950 a pop, and while Asus did not say anything concerning the sale of the Padfone Infinity sans the tablet dock, at that price point, it will obviously be accompanied by the tablet dock.

Since the first shipments of the Asus Padfone Infinity is already readily available in the US, it should also make its way to other markets in due time, where folks living outside of the US should cost them a far more expensive €999, although the price might eventually be dragged down as soon as supply levels have managed to catch up with demand.

Asus Padfone Infinity Pre-Orders Now Open, April Release Confirmed Again

Asus Padfone Infinity Pre Orders Now Open, April Release Confirmed AgainAsus were first off the blocks to announce the Padfone Infinity at Mobile World Congress which concluded last month in Barcelona, Spain, and the Padfone Infinity can boast of being a third generation Padfone device. We are glad to say that this particular smartphone-tablet hybrid is now up and available for pre-order over in its home country, Taiwan, and should arrive on store shelves from April onwards in a couple of colors – namely gray and pink.

Folks living in Taiwan can pick up the 32GB Padfone Infinity as a standalone device for $702, and if you want to double up the storage space to 64GB, that would mean a slight increase in its price to $769, not too shabby, really. If you want the tablet dock to be included, that would mean having to spend another $167 thereabouts. Have you already saved up the necessary to drop some serious coin on this Android 4.2 Jelly Bean powered hybrid when the time comes? Or are you looking at something else entirely for your hybrid computing needs?
