Pantech IM-A890K Picks Up Bluetooth Certification

Pantech IM A890K Picks Up Bluetooth CertificationIt goes without saying that unreleased devices will need to pick up their fair share of certification before they are able to be released for the general masses. Well, it was not too long ago that the Pantech IM-A890S was seen on the Bluetooth Certification database, where it also revealed then that this particular device looks set to be the world’s first LTE-Advanced device with fingerprint recognition capability. Good things come in more than one I suppose, as there seems to be a different variant which has picked up Bluetooth Certification, too, and that would come in the form of the Pantech IM-A890K.

This would mean that the Pantech IM-A890K would arrive with Bluetooth connectivity for sure, and yet again, the very same “signature” surfaces, that is, the Pantech IM-A890K will feature fingerprint recognition capability, as well as being an LTE-Advanced device. I suppose with this in mind, anticipation runs rather high that a different variant known as the Pantech IM-A890L is also tipped to be on the receiving end of Bluetooth Certification sometime down the road. How far do you think that fingerprint recognition capability is going to go in the realm of smartphones, and will its potential be maximized eventually?

Pantech Vega Iron To Get Android 4.4 KitKat

Pantech Vega Iron To Get Android 4.4 KitKat The Pantech Vega Iron was first unveiled earlier in April, but it seemed to remain within the realm of South Korea, its home market. Still, things do seem to shape up that the Pantech Vega Iron might end up as one of the first smartphones which will be on the receiving end of the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system update. Pantech also confirmed this information over Twitter in native Korean of course, that the Vega Iron would be able to receive this update in due time. Unfortunately, we do not have an exact date as to when one is able to expect it.

Needless to say, Pantech would not be the only manufacturer to ensure that their handset gets to enjoy this particular update, as there are other manufacturers around such as Samsung, Sony, LG and HTC who will eventually update some of their devices to Android 4.4 KitKat in due time, too. When the Pantech Vega Iron was revealed to the world earlier this year, it came with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box, where it was accompanied by a 5” (1280 x 720 pixels) display with a 2.4mm-thin bezel on the left and right hand sides. Other hardware specifications include LTE connectivity, a 13MP shooter at the back, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, and a 2,150 mAh battery.

Pantech IM-A890 Comes With Fingerprint Recognition Capability

Pantech IM A890 Comes With Fingerprint Recognition CapabilityPantech IM-A890 has seen some leaks in the past few weeks, where many have suspected this to be a successor to the Pantech Vega LTE-A, considering how the South Korean inspired Pantech Vega LTE-A carried the model number IM-A880. Well, the Bluetooth database did reveal that the Pantech IM-A890S has already received its nod of approval and was listed on September 11th, and in this particular database listing, some more details that would interest the masses were revealed.

Apparently, the Pantech IM-A890S claims to be the first LTE-A device or smartphone in the world that comes with rear touch features as well as a Secret Key that can only be unlocked via fingerprint recognition. This sounds suspiciously familiar like Apple’s Touch ID that arrived with the recently announced iPhone 5S, except that Pantech’s version would see it work from the back of the device rather than up front. All in all, it certainly is an interesting way of declaring a “world’s first” adjective as part of the marketing material. I wonder which company would find it viable to be the world’s first smartphone that has fingerprint recognition built into the side/top/bottom of the device, now that would be a hoot. Either way, could this begin the arms race for fingerprint recognition in future devices?

Pantech Vega LTE-A arrives with fingerprint scanner, rear trackpad

We’ve been hearing rumors that the iPhone 5S and LG G2 will come with fingerprint scanners, but they no longer will be the first smartphones to include such a feature, as Pantech has beaten the crowd to the punch. The company launched the Vega LTE-A in Korea, and it comes with the fingerprint scanner, as […]

Pantech Vega LTE-A flaunts fingerprint recognition, 5.6-inch 1080p display

Pantech Vega LTE-A flaunts fingerprint recognition, 5.6-inch 1080p display

Few phones can take advantage of South Korea’s freshly-launched LTE-Advanced networks, but Pantech’s just given speed demons a new option: the Vega LTE-A. Though full details haven’t trickled out from overseas just yet, the available specs paint an impressive picture. A 5.6-inch full HD display graces the front of the handset while a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor helps the device run Android 4.2.2. What’s more, it’s toting an area for fingerprint recognition on its back. Come mid-August, folks in the hardware maker’s homeland will be able to pick up the handset for use on SK Telecom’s network. If the LTE-A variant of the Galaxy S 4 doesn’t strike your fancy, Pantech’s newest piece of kit might just be worth a look.

Pantech Vega LTE-A Is An Upcoming Flagship

Pantech Vega LTE A Is An Upcoming FlagshipI have always maintained the fact that each smartphone manufacturer would do well to roll out a flagship model in order to maintain one’s pride in the industry. After all, they do it with cars and other kinds of purchases, so why not do the same with smartphones? Smartphones are something that we carry with us wherever we go, so if you have something that is of the high end side of things, then it would definitely be worth taking out from your pocket to make full use of it. LG has their LG G2, and Pantech, one of LG’s domestic rivals in South Korea, too wants to release a flagship device that they call the Pantech Vega LTE-A – where it will sport a power button and touchpad on the back, taking a different design cues from its contemporaries.

The Pantech Vega LTE-A is also known as the model number IM-A880S, where it is tipped to be announced later this coming August 6th – and industry watchers might read into this as a potential pre-emptive strike on Pantech’s part of sorts, since that is a day before LG officially reveals the LG G2. The Pantech Vega LTE-A will be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box, accompanied by 2GB RAM, a 5.7” Full HD display, LTE-Advanced connectivity, and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz processor.
