Pantech Vega Iron busts out to break down GALAXY S 4 and HTC One

With Pantech on the rise in not only South Korea but here in the USA as well, it’s only a little surprising to find them teasing their next-generation smartphone “Vega Iron” with a processor more powerful than the GALAXY S 4. Both the Samsung GALAXY S 4 and the HTC One are coming to the public with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, a quad-core processor that’s easily one of the most powerful on the market today. To outdo such a move, the Pantech Vega Iron will be pumping up with the Snapdragon 800, a processor we’ve only seen in the lab before today.

vegagooo

News of the Vega Iron comes from South Korea with word that the smartphone could launch as early as next week. Of course with the announcement coming next week as well, we must take a wild guess and say that it’s not the actual store availability that’s coming next week, but the announcement only. Along with this tip comes a suggestion that the Vega will not be rounded off as its predecessors have been, but a sharp rectangular visage – maybe even bringing some “Nokia-esque” color casings with it as well.

Under the hood it’s suggested that the Pantech Vega Iron will be bringing a massive 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. This beast is said to be powered by a rather big 2150mAh battery while it features a 13 megapixel camera on its back. Inside you’ll find what some sources suggest will be the Snapdragon 600 while other suggest the Snapdragon 800, both of these being quad-core processors of note, and in either case a 2GB bit of RAM to back it all up.

Have a peek in the timeline below and get pumped up for this release – everybody’s joining in on the massive smartphone with powerful processor party! Everyone in the whole entire world, for sure!

Pantech IM-A870 Wants To Ditch The Bezel

Pantech IM A870 Wants To Ditch The BezelAre smartphones taking the same route as that of the modern day flat screen TV? Perhaps, especially when you consider most of the new TVs released tend to gravitate towards a monolithic design, and making sure that as little of the bezel as possible is shown is another factor that assists consumers to part with money in their wallet and bank account. Well, Pantech might be thinking along the same lines when it comes to their Pantech IM-A870 smartphone, which is a 5” smartphone that tries as much as possible to reduce the visible bezel.

Part of the Vega R series, the Pantech IM-A870 is said to arrive with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset and of course, the aforementioned 5” bezel-less touchscreen display, as part of Pantech’s exercise in “rebutting” the Samsung Galaxy S4. Not only that, it is said to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and ought to arrive sometime later this month. Just in case you were wondering where does Pantech stand in the hierarchy of things, they are the third largest smartphone manufacturer in South Korea.

Pantech Creates Awesome Stop Motion Animation Using 500 Vega Number 6 Phones

Thanks to the displays on our smartphones these days being bright and vibrant, using them to simulate a mini environment does not seem like a stretch of the imagination, and that’s what the folks at Korean manufacturer, Pantech, did when they released a stop motion animation in which a fictional city is created using the displays from the Pantech Vega Number 6 smartphone. About 500 Vega Number 6 phones were used in the creation of this video and fictional city, dubbed the rather appropriate Vega City, and we have to admit that it is pretty cool. If you have a few minutes to spare, be sure to check the video out as the heroine fights and performs acrobatic acts in Vega City to escape her pursuers. Also be sure to stay after the video ends because once the main bit is over, Pantech shares just how the entire thing was put together!

Pantech Vega No. 6 Goes International

Pantech Vega No. 6 Goes InternationalThe Pantech Vega No. 6 was first released in South Korea last month, and the company was pretty much quiet on whether it will arrive in other countries or not. I guess that the correct answer would be “Yes”, as it seems that the Pantech Vega No. 6 is no longer an exclusive handset restricted to South Korea, but has also been launched in Hong Kong. The asking price for the high end Pantech Vega No. 6? So far, folks living in the ex-British colony will have to fork out approximately $770 after conversion, so assuming it arrives unlocked in other countries, expect to pony up cash somewhere in the same region.

Granted, paying close to $800 for a high end smartphone (albeit unlocked) might be a wee bit too much to ask for by some quarters, but bear in mind that the Pantech Vega No. 6 is well equipped with a Full HD display that spans 5.9”, and will feature Android Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice, LTE and NFC connectivity, a 2-megapixel shooter up front with a 13-megapixel camera at the back, 2GB RAM, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded further via a microSD memory card slot.

Verizon Pantech Perception Hits The FCC

Verizon Pantech Perception Hits The FCCPantech introduced their first smartphone that has an HD touchscreen in the US just last month, in the form of the Pantech Discover for AT&T. Well, it seems that the smartphone company intends to gain a larger footprint in the lower-midrange handset market without breaking the bank with yet another variant of the Pantech Discover, coming in the form of the Pantech Perception for Verizon Wireless. Needless to say, it will also be priced to please, and it the Pantech Perception has already arrived at the FCC, gaining approval in the process – meaning, it should soon be ready for public purchase.

The FCC did snap photos of the Pantech Perception from various angles, and the overall build quality does seem to lean more towards the high end side of things. There were no Verizon branding spotted in the FCC photos, but chances are pretty high that this will change when the Pantech Perception is finally released. We do expect to see such Verizon livery located above the screen, and the back area should see it stamped near the 4G LTE logo. Rumored hardware specifications of the Pantech Perception consist of a 720p HD touchscreen, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and perhaps it will arrive before the end of next month.

Pantech Vega No 6 Android 5.9-Inch Smartphone: Phace It, It’s a Phablet.

I’m beginning to think that the smartphone wars are leading to devices with oversize screens that are becoming impractical. For a long time a big-screen for a smartphone was in the area of four-inches. Smartphone screens have begun to creep up in size as the so-called “phablet” has become popular. A phablet is a smartphone with a screen larger than normal, yet smaller than a tablet.

One of the most popular tablet segments is the seven-inch device. While most phablets have screens that are in the low five-inch range, Pantech has a new offering with significantly larger display. The smartphone is called the Vega No 6[KR] and it features a whopping 5.9-inch screen. Just try and cram that into your pocket.

The 4G/LTE device runs Android 4.1 and has a full HD resolution IPS LCD display. The rear camera is a 13-megapixel unit that’s able to record full HD video at 30 frames per second. The front camera captures two-megapixel images and video. The phone is powered by a large 3150 mAh battery. The device also has a touchpad area on the back (similar to the PS Vita) underneath the camera allowing users to control the phone with one hand.

The phone will be available this February in Korea for 849,000 Won (~$778 USD). There’s no word on pricing or availability in other markets.

Pantech Vega No. 6 Is Now Official

pantech vega no6 Pantech Vega No. 6 Is Now OfficialThere is Mambo No. 5, and here we are with the Pantech Vega No. 6. Pantech is incidentally the third largest handset manufacturer in South Korea, where they have officially announced their maiden attempt at the Full HD smartphone market. We first heard whispers about the Pantech Vega No. 6 a week ago, where it will carry a 5.9” screen that sports Full HD resolution, with dimensions that measure 158.6mm × 83.2mm × 9.9mm.

Just what kind of hardware specifications can you find underneath the hood? For starters, it will run on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system (with Pantech’s own Flux UX user interface running on top of it, of course), accompanied by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. On the camera front, the Vega No. 6 will not come up short since it has a 13-megapixel camera at the back with a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, LTE and NFC, while 2GB RAM is accompanied by 32GB of internal memory that can be further expanded via a microSD memory card should it be not enough. There is no word on whether the Pantech Vega No. 6 will ever be released outside of South Korea, but it ought to retail for less than $780 after conversion in its home country. [Press Release]

The big-screen phone has a 3150 mAh internal battery and uses a Snapdragon S-4 Pro processor. The smartphone runs Android 4.1 for the operating system and will be available in black or white colors. Pantech offers no details on availability within Korea or in other parts of the world.
