World Of Warcraft Patch 5.4.2 Now Available For TestingDo you play with a whole lot of World of Warcraft? If you have answered in the affirmative, then you might be pleased to know that patch 5.4.2 is now available to test out on the Public Test Realms (PTR). Those who would like to take part in the Public Test Realms will be able to enjoy giving patches a test run prior to its official release. Assuming you would like to do your bit to test and provide feedback, you can do so by copying your character and downloading the PTR client. After giving it a run around a few times, do remember to pay a visit to the PTR Discussion forum in order to talk over the patch, and should there be any issues or errors to clarify, it can be done over on the PTR Bug Report forum.

Among the changes made to the World of Warcraft Patch 5.4.2 PTR include “Intervene” that no longer removes movement-impairing effects on use. As for the talent Safeguard, it will continue to remove movement-impairing effects. Where “Raids, Dungeons, and Scenarios” are concerned, one ought to take note that Cross-Realm raid browser will now feature new categories for Mists of Pandaria World Bosses (Celestials and Ordos) and Flexible raid difficulty for Siege of Orgrimmar.

Killzone Shadow Fall Patch 1.05 Makes Changes To Single Player Campaign

Killzone Shadow Fall Patch 1.05 Makes Changes To Single Player CampaignIf you are an avid fan of Killzone Shadow Fall just as it is, you might not want to download and install any more patches. After all, why bother to change a winning formula? It is just not done for sure, and you know what they say about something not being broke – there is absolutely no point at all in fixing it. Well, for those who think that Killzone Shadow Fall might be a better game when it has the latest patches installed, you might want to keep a keen eye out for patch 1.05, as that is the patch which will see tweaks introduced to the single player campaign in addition to throwing in left-handed support, news that is sure to keep southpaws more than happy.

Needless to say, just like any other self respecting patch or update, this particular patch 1.05 of Killzone Shadow Fall will also come with it its fair share of bug fixes. Apart from the option to support left-handed players, this patch will also shorten the sequences that are found in the single-player campaign. Do bear in mind that left-handed support would only affect the analog sticks, so the shoulder buttons as well as the triggers would remain untouched. Other than that, the end section of single-player campaign chapter 7, “Secure the Target”, has also been edited to be shorter after receiving player feedback. Do bear in mind that patch 1.05 will download and install automatically. [Press Release]

WoW To Implement ‘Connected Realms’ Feature In Patch 5.4

WoW To Implement Connected Realms Feature In Patch 5.4To all things, there is a beginning and an end, and there is no running away from this fact. Nothing can be sustained at its peak for eternity, and the same applies to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, which so happened to have shed nearly half of its peak subscriber base, and now has slightly less than 8 million active accounts. Having said that, the folks over at Blizzard must be wondering how come no one has been asking for a server merger, at least not on a large scale, and we too, have similar questions running through our heads. It is nice to know that Blizzard will be introducing Connected Realms in Patch 5.4, which functions in the same way as that of current dungeon cross-realm tech, save for the fact that they are full servers.

Blizzard explained, “In Patch 5.4, we’re looking to address this with a new feature called Connected Realms. Building on our existing cross-realm technology, a Connected Realm is a set of two or more standard realms that have been permanently and seamless “linked.” These linked realms will behave as if they were one cohesive realm, meaning you’ll be able to join the same guilds, access a single Auction House, run the same Raids and Dungeons, and join other adventurers to complete quests.”

As the end user, you have nothing to fret, since Connected Realms will remain matched in theme, including PvP and PvE among others, and will be wholly seamless. Who knows? More than two realms might even be connected!

Check if your Android phone is patched against the ‘Master Key’ exploit with this app

Check if your Android phone is patched against the 'Master Key' exploit with this app

After discovering a longstanding exploit in Android firmware dating back to version 1.6 that allowed malicious developers to circumvent software security measures, Bluebox Security released an Android app this week for users to check whether their phone is still vulnerable to the exploit. Since Bluebox’s report last week, Google acknowledged the issue and released a patch that it says is in the hands of OEMs and already being pushed out by certain manufacturers (Samsung, for one). The app is thankfully free, and should provide some much-needed reassurance to most Android users. Head to the source link below to snag it for yourself.

SimCity Patch Hopes To Fix Traffic Issues

SimCity Patch Hopes To Fix Traffic Issues Each time a particular game or software is released, chances are it will not be the final version, as there will be patches and revisions released down the road to make the software run better and more efficiently. Unfortunately in the case of SimCity, a recent patch resulted in more bugs than fixes. The latest release of SimCity is just like any other city – trouble is never too far away, and while it has its fair share of fans, this does not mean that the game is not frustrating at times. Maxis has once again worked on a new range of fixes for SimCity, keeping their fingers crossed that they will be able to fix the sandbox game’s transport woes. Hmmm, sounds as though governments around the world, too, have this particular issue to lose sleep over.

Update 3.0 for SimCity is due later this week, where among its traffic-centric features include an updated routing system to improve traffic flow, in addition to commercial and industrial buildings staggering their work shifts to begin throughout commute hours instead of at the top of the hour, and hopefully, this will eventually see a reduction in traffic volume. Some folks have also come across a particular issue where a car simply would not budge, causing a backlog of traffic behind it. Hopefully things will be better after this patch!

Ming Mecca modules steer whole game worlds through voltage (video)

Ming Mecca modules steer whole game worlds through voltage video

Just about every gamer we know has wanted to alter a game world on the spot, whether it’s to cheat, fix game mechanics or experiment. Special Stage Systems’ Ming Mecca system is built entirely around that concept — and will definitely appeal to anyone with a fondness for analog electronics. Knobs and switches on its World Core synthesizer module adjust the game machine’s maps, graphics, characters and even physics through voltage tweaks. Players only have to load assets on an SD card if they’d like a different look, and they even have access to the firmware and schematics if they want to go completely off the beaten path. Input is just as unconventional: a Control Core turns NES-compatible gamepads into signal generators that can be used just as easily for music making as for playing. Ming Mecca isn’t expected to ship until summer 2014, and it won’t be cheap at an estimated $999 for a World Core and $350 for the Control Core. Even so, we’re sorely tempted to splurge — it’s not often that a gadget scratches so many of our nostalgic itches at once.

Girl Scouts Plan to Offer Video Game Design Patch

The Girl Scouts is an organization designed to help children learn all sorts of skills with the rewards being patches or badges. The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles has announced that they are working on introducing a new patch that scouts can earn for creating video games. The Boy Scouts of America already announced a similar patch for game creation.

    gsbadge

The organization is working with Women in Games International to create a program that meets Girl Scout patch requirements. The patch program will focus on the STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, academic initiative. They’ll be encouraging girls to use Gamestar Mechanic to learn to develop their games.

The goal of creating the badge according to those working on the program is to get young girls excited about technology and science. Women in Games International wants to let young girls know that they can have a career in the video game industry. While the Girl Scout’s patch will be specifically for designing video games, the similar patch that Boy Scouts can earn is for the designing of any game be it digital or board.

    Samsung Exynos Exploit Fix Pushed

exynos abuse Samsung Exynos Exploit Fix PushedIt was not too long ago when Samsung introduced a fix that helped solve the niggling Exynos issue for affected Samsung Galaxy S3 owners living across the pond – in the UK, to be exact. Well, it is nice to know that Samsung is dead serious in stamping out this particular bug, as the South Korean conglomerate has recently introduced an over-the-air update to T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note 2 that is touted to “improve security and provides bug fixes”, with Sprint in tow as well, having pushed out a somewhat similar software update that will target just one specific device from them – the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4G, where it will deliver security updates which ought to handle just about any current Exynos vulnerabilities. Apart from that, there is also the inclusion of “Sprint Connections Optimizer.” We look forward to any additional patches of the same kind in the days ahead which will cater to other affected Samsung devices. Are you curious to know when your device will receive this fix?
