Samsung announces Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor and Series 7 SC750 Monitor

Many of us do use computers in our line of work for many hours each day, and apart from having an efficient machine that does our digital bidding in the most practical manner, the monitor, too, plays a big role in ensuring that our eyes do not end up too tired along the way for us to do anything else. Samsung has a couple of new consumer monitors, namely the Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor as well as the Series 7 SC750 monitor, where the former would happen to be Samsung’s first consumer multi-touch display; while the latter boasts of an ergonomic rotating display.

The Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor comes with a special touch control that paves the way for 10 points of simultaneous input, making it ideal for dragging, rotating and selecting objects on the monitor, all the while offering a smooth and intuitive touchscreen interaction. This means you do not need to have any additional controllers, and I can testify to the fact that once you have gotten used to a touchscreen monitor in a Windows 8 environment, you would find it strange when you use a computer terminal without a touchscreen as you would inadvertently touch the monitor and wonder why it does not work. Just remember to lay off the pizza and other kinds of oily food along the way if you want to continue working from the existing terminal with the Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor in tow.

The SC770 also delivers an enriched computing experience, as it can hook up to a mobile device via USB, while Samsung’s Sliding-Tilt function with hinge technology would enable the SC770 to smoothly and conveniently adjust to a 55-degree tilt. This is a 24” Full HD display that sports a narrow bezel with ultra slim depth, accompanied by a clean back and a premium metallic stand, and will retail for $599.99 a pop.

As for the Series 7 SC750 monitor, this puppy will arrive in a slim, ergonomic design which is capable of a 90-degree pivot, while the rotating screen has been optimized for surfing the web, consuming social media content and viewing documents – regardless of whether you choose to do so in landscape or portrait modes. You can pick up the Series 7 SC750 in 24” and 27” models for $249 and $379, respectively.

Digital Storm VELOCE gaming notebook

If there ever was an oxymoron, a gaming notebook would fit the mould in my books. After all, if you want a lean, mean, gaming machine, a souped up desktop would work to your advantage a whole lot more than a notebook which has its innards pimped out to resemble the performance of a gaming desktop. I know, there has been some notable standouts in the world of gaming notebooks in the past, but lugging those bad boys around can be hazardous to your health, especially when you do not want to dislocate your shoulder after a long day on the showfloor with a monster of a gaming notebook in your backpack. Enter Digital Storm’s VELOCE gaming notebook that intends to shatter conventional views about it.

For starters, the VELOCE gaming notebook is a 13.3” slim machine which definitely has looks that betrays its performance. Most folks might think of the VELOCE to be an ordinary working machine, but despite its 4.6 pound chassis (battery included) that measures a mere 1.26” thin, it packs more than enough graphical and gaming firepower underneath the hood to take you and a bunch of other naysayers aback.

The VELOCE holds the distinction of being the first Haswell powered slim gaming notebook that comes with a Full HD resolution display that will certainly not come up short when it wants to show off stunning visuals. Depending on the hardware configuration of your choice, the VELOCE gaming notebook would retail from $1,535 upwards, and runs on an Intel Core i7 4800MQ processor, NVIDIA’s GTX 765M graphics card, carries 8GB RAM, and a full high-resolution HD screen (1920×1080) 13.3″ display as mentioned earlier. There is also enough room to stash a couple of drives (mSATA & 2.5”) in a RAID configuration, while connectivity options include a dedicated internal network port, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, VGA video out ports and Bluetooth. Are your hands itching to wrap around the VELOCE gaming notebook? It will be available from July 17th onwards.

ASUS set to ship their first 31.5” 4K resolution monitor

Whenever there’s a leap forward in screen resolution, you always look back and wonder just how you thought the previous size was ever crisp enough to satisfy your eyes. The last really big push was for the 1080p standard, which is 1920×1080. However, there is a new kid in town, and his name is simply 4K. This new standard is 3840×2160, which is double the pixels. There aren’t a lot of devices on the market that support this new resolution, but that’s about to change before long.

Later this month Asus will be debuting their first 31.5” 4K UHD (ultra-high definition) PQ321Q monitor. For me, anything much larger than 30” is a bit big for a PC monitor, so this will definitely be pushing that limit. However, I think that the high resolution would balance that out. Plus, the new monitor has a special Picture-by-Picture function that allows you to essentially use it as two separate monitors, if you have different inputs.

Aside from the super high resolution, you’re going to get a pair of 2-watt stereo speakers, an anti-glare coating, and an LED backlight. For inputs, you’ll have one DisplayPort and dual HDMI. The biggest downside to this purchase is the $3,500 price you’ll have to pay.

Leef Bridge USB flash drive

What happens when you want to transfer a file from a USB flash drive over to your smartphone or tablet? Most of the time, we would hook up the smartphone or tablet to a computer, and likewise, do the same for the USB flash drive, before we open up the relevant windows and perform the file transfer. If only there was no need for a middleman, or in this case, a middle device, life would be a whole lot more convenient, don’t you think so? This is the particular niche that the Leef Bridge USB flash drive intends to fill, where it not only comes with a full sized USB connector, it also comes alongside a microUSB connector.

The latter makes it extremely easy to connect the Leef Bridge USB flash drive into a smartphone or tablet, where all that is required of you would be to slide out the segment that you want to use, while the case of the Leef Bridge USB flash drive will offer protection to the other end. Of course, one should take this into consideration that not all Android-powered devices that have a microUSB port will be compatible with the Leef Bridge, as some of these ports are meant for charging purposes only, so make sure your device has USB OTG (On The Go) compatibility in the first place. Expect the Leef Bridge USB flash drive to arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities, where the first two models will retail for $17.99 and $28.99, respectively.

Laptops and Ultrabooks are definitely part of the future computing landscape, as not many people like to remain tethered to their desks any more with a fat desktop computer. The thing is, laptops still pale in comparison when it comes to tasks such as music editing or composition when compared to a desktop, since attempting to perform such tasks in a public area would leave you extremely lacking in the tactile input department. The VMeter USB Midi Controller is an A-class compliant USB MIDI device, and it is able to play nice with just about all software by receiving data, in addition to sporting an extremely reactive touch strip for those who happen to have fast reactions.
