Digital Storm, maker of custom-built gaming computers, has just announced the Bolt, which is the company’s newest creation and is claimed to be the world’s thinnest and most powerful desktop gaming PC on the market currently, thanks to the custom-built computer chassis and top-of-the-line components.

How thin is it exactly, you ask? Surprisingly, it’s only 3.6-inches thick, and it stands 14-inches tall. Digital Storm says that they “found no chassis on the market that met their design criteria,” so the company ended up designing and building their own case that would fit their criteria to the letter.

The company says that no other thin form factor tower has as much power on the inside as the Bolt does. The computer can fit up to an Intel Core i7 3770K quad-core processor that can be overclocked to 4.6GHz, 16GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics, 120GB SSD, and a 1TB hard drive with room for up to five drives total.

Of course, that model will cost you a pretty penny: $1,949. However, their base model weighs in at $999 and comes with a Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, GTX 650 Ti graphics, and a 1TB hard drive. All of their machines come with Windows 7 Home Premium. The Bolt is available now for purchase, so if you’ve been looking for a powerful rig in a small package, this might be your time to buy.

Razer has been big on Star Wars gaming gear, but never quite like this. Enter a free contest and there’s a chance to win a completely unique Star Wars: The Old Republic version of Razer’s Blade gaming laptop. The winner sees the system’s normally black shell replaced with a matte, laser-etched aluminum gray and the green backlighting dropped in favor of a subtler yellow matched to the MMORPG logo. Anyone who brings out this portable at a bring-your-own-computer gaming party is inevitably going to be the center of attention, although we have a feeling some would almost prefer the second-place bundle of peripherals — at an estimated worth of $15,000, the Star Wars Blade might be too precious to carry for all but the most well-heeled of fans.

No one can accuse Maingear of skipping the latest hardware cycles — less than a month after offering PCs with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 and 660 graphics, the PC system builder has announced that you can get all its desktop machines with GTX 650 Ti graphics now, too. As it happens, NVIDIA has just launched that very product — a friskier version of the GTX 650 with extra Cuda cores — keeping Maingear in lockstep with its graphics board suppliers again. That card will fill the gap between the $229 GeForce GTX 660 and $109 GTX 650 cards and run $149 (estimated), while Maingear has said it will feature special F131 and Potenza GTX 650 Ti systems at $150 off, along with a free copy of Assassin Creed III. So, if you need all the fps you can get, but can’t quite pony up for the more desirable GTX 660, check the PR for more details.

If you have a gamer on your holiday shopping list and they like shooters with a little RPG mixed in on the side, EA and BioWare have the perfect gift. On November 6, BioWare is launching the Mass Effect Trilogy compilation. The compilation will have all three Mass Effect games in one package.

The bundle pack will cost just $59.99(USD) and will provide many hours of epic gaming action. Mass Effect is one of the best video game franchises out there in my opinion. The franchise will take you from our first introduction to Commander Shepherd all the way to the point where he (SPOILER ALERT) sacrifices himself to save humanity.

The trilogy pack will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC on November 6. In a kick to the groin for PS3 gamers, there is no launch date offer for the PlayStation version of the Mass Effect Trilogy. I hope that the PS3 version will come in time for holiday gift-giving, but since the original Mass Effect was never released on the PS3, it’s likely to result in some delays for that console.

We can’t say that there’s a huge cross-section of buyers who want a gaming laptop but refuse to touch Intel components. Whatever the size, MSI likely has that group sewn up with the official unveiling of the GX60 following a stealth appearance at Computex. The 15.6-inch portable is built as showcase for AMD’s latest mobile technology: it revolves around a 2.3GHz, quad-core A10-4600M processor using the Piledriver architecture as well as a Radeon HD 7970M to feed its 1080p screen at full speed. Thankfully, the PC is more than just a marketing vehicle and carries some of the gamer-tuned parts that we’ve seen in other MSI rigs, such as dual SSDs in a RAID stripe, a low-lag Killer networking chipset and a heavy-duty SteelSeries keyboard. Buying a GX60 may prove to be the real obstacle — in keeping with most MSI introductions, there’s no mention of a price or ship date, and none of the usual suspects have it in stock as of this writing.
