Cheaper Sony Full-Frame NEX Camera Could Feature 24MP Sensor [Rumor]

Cheaper Sony Full Frame NEX Camera Could Feature 24MP Sensor [Rumor]We have been hearing some rumors that Sony could be planning to launch a full-frame NEX camera in the future, and not just one model, but several models. One of them is expected to be the more affordable option, while one will be a mid-ranged model, while the other will be a high-end model. According to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they claim to have been tipped off to some of the specifications of the upcoming devices. Based on their information, it is expected that the cheaper full-frame NEX camera will sport a 24MP sensor, while the high-end model will go with the 36MP sensor. Like we’ve mentioned many times in the past, megapixels don’t determine a camera’s quality, but unfortunately it has been used as a marketing tool where bigger means better.

In any case this kind of corroborates an earlier rumor where it was suggested that Sony could be thinking of choosing between a 24MP, 32MP, or a 36MP sensor for their full-frame camera, but it looks like with the different models rumored, Sony could just end up using all three instead! Take it with a grain of salt for now, but with the rumors pointing at a 16th of October announcement, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to see if the rumors pan out.

Powerful Image Stabilization For All Devices

Powerful Image Stabilization For All DevicesIn the past 5 years, we have seen a rapid increase in digital imagery capabilities in the consumer space. We have gotten to the point where every smartphone user has a powerful video recording device in their pocket and people can even buy dedicated “action cams” such as the GoPro or the Sony Action Cam to put on their bikes skateboard if not their aerial drones!

The thing with many of those platforms is that they can generate a lot of “shaking” motion, which translate into a shaky video – and that can be rather nauseating for the audience. Some system have integrated Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body in either optical or electronic form, but both are limited by the internal volume of the device, or by how much of the frame will be cropped to stabilize the action (let alone processing power to do so). Sony Full-Frame NEX Announcement Rumored For 16 October

Sony Full Frame NEX Announcement Rumored For 16 OctoberOver the past few months, there have been heavy rumors regarding a Sony full-frame NEX camera, with some speculating that the camera (or cameras) could see an announcement during the month of October. Either way we guess we will need to wait and see if the rumors pan out, but in the meantime Sony Alpha Rumors has received a tip from a couple of their sources that it is possible that Sony could be taking the wraps off their new products come 16th of October, although that date might vary depending on which timezone you are in. The cameras expected to be announced include a NEX full-frame camera, and a NEX APS-C camera.

We had previously heard that Sony could be taking advantage of the PhotoPlus Expo to announce their products, but the expo is taking place on the 23-26th of October, which is obviously a different date from this rumor. Then again it has been rumored that there are multiple NEX cameras in the works, so perhaps Sony will announce different products at different times. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’re only a couple of weeks away from the 16th of October so it shouldn’t be too long before we see if the rumors come true! In the meantime who else is looking forward to a full-frame NEX camera?

Sony ILCE-5000 Listed By Indonesian Agency

Sony ILCE 5000 Listed By Indonesian AgencyWe’ve been hearing about how Sony has created a new camera category where the models will fall under the “ILCE” moniker, and so far we have seen devices like the ILCE-7, and ILCE-3000. Well it turns out that Sony has more models planned and one of them will be the ILCE-5000, at least that’s according to an Indonesian agency, Postel, who revealed the device in one of their listings. According to Sony Alpha Rumors, the ILCE-5000 is allegedly a more advanced version of the Sony A3000, but other than that the full specifications of the camera remain unknown.

Sony has since removed the entry which could mean that either the entry is real and Sony just doesn’t want the cat let out of the bag yet, or it could have been made in error hence the removal. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more ILCE-5000 sightings in the future, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for more updates! In the meantime if the ILCE-5000 is indeed am ore advanced version of the Sony A3000, what sort of specs or features do you think it might pack under its hood?

Nikon Patent Hints At Camera With Interchangeable Sensors

Nikon Patent Hints At Camera With Interchangeable SensorsMegapixels are one of the things that camera manufacturers love to tout and use as a tool to market their products, although many photographers will tell you that the megapixels don’t really matter that much unless you’re planning to print huge photos, and while it does help to a certain degree, having more megapixels does not necessarily mean it is a better camera. To that extent wouldn’t it be a great idea if cameras could come with interchangeable sensors? Imagine if you could buy a camera body but be able to swap out sensors depending on your needs, or if you needed to clean it or gain access to it, wouldn’t that be convenient?

Well a Nikon patent has revealed that the Japanese camera company has toyed around with the idea, and the patent describes the idea of a camera with an interchangeable sensor and how to go about achieving a more accurate way of mounting it within the device. Sensors are usually a fixture of a camera and are typically non-removable, at least not by the average photographer, as compared to lenses, which is why they are used as a marketing tool, i.e. a 20MP camera versus a 32MP camera, and so forth. However given that this is a patent, there’s no telling if Nikon will actually go ahead and make it a reality, but what do you guys think? Would you like a camera with interchangeable lenses?

Sony Rumored To Introduce “PRO Service” For Photographers

Sony Rumored To Introduce PRO Service For PhotographersThere is a lot of competition these days in the camera industry, what with companies such as Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, and etc. all fighting for market share and control. While having great products is one way to attract customers over to your side of the fence, great customer service is another one. After all no one likes the idea of having bad after-sales support right after dropping few thousand on new cameras and lenses, right? Well according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, that’s exactly what Sony has planned.

According to one of their trusted sources, they claim that Sony could be gearing up to launch a “PRO Service” in the near future. This service will be aimed at photographers and Sony camera owners and could offer up services such as a faster repair service, for example. It would also come with a hotline that photographers can reach Sony at if anything goes wrong with their camera. The exact details of the “PRO Service” remain unknown at this point in time, or if it is even true for that matter, but the idea behind it is to make the switch to Sony an easier and more pleasant one. What do you guys think? Will offering up better support make it an incentive for photographers to switch camera brands?

Sony Reassures E-mount Will Not Replace A-mount Cameras

Sony Reassures E mount Will Not Replace A mount CamerasSony seems to be hard at work creating new mirrorless cameras these days, and as far as their A-mount cameras are concerned, there aren’t many announcements on that front. This has led to some wondering about the fate of Sony’s A-mount cameras and if the mirrorless E-mount cameras would eventually replace them. Given that Sony has created E-mount cameras designed to look like A-mounts, we guess we can’t really blame photographers for being concerned. Well the good news is that according to a Sony Alpha Rumors reader who reached out to Sony regarding the future of A-mount, their response appears to be good and basically reassured them that the new E-mounts will not replace the A-mount system.

According to Sony’s response, “The A-mount units have always been the flagship ever since the release of the very first Sony Alpha camera. Much like the Single Lens Translucent (SLT) technology, the E-mount system is an innovation, introduced to further expand our interchangeable lens line, and in no way a replacement for the A-mount system. Rest assured that we will further develop the A-mount system together with the E-mount, introducing new technology and upgrading features.” So there you have it. Photographers can rest assured knowing their investment in Sony’s A-mount cameras and lenses will not be a waste.

Foap Makes Its Way Onto Android, Pays You For Your Photos

Foap Makes Its Way Onto Android, Pays You For Your PhotosLove taking photos on your phone? We’re sure that there are many of us out there who do, but why not get paid for it, right? iOS users might be familiar with the Foap app, but the good news is that it looks like Android users will now be able to enjoy the app as well as the app has finally made its way onto the Google Play store. For those unfamiliar, Foap is an app that not only allows users to search for and purchase stock photos for use in their work or projects, but it will also allow users to sell their photos too which in turn can be used as stock photos by others.

As it stands photographers will be able to make $5 for every $10 unlimited license that they sell, which we guess isn’t a bad deal especially if you take photos on your phone all the time anyway, it’s just a matter of whether it appeals enough to someone to purchase a license. On top of that, it seems that there are brands such as Sony, Puma, and Axe who are tasking photographers with missions to take specific photos from which they will be able to make money from as well. If you’d like to check out the app, hit up the Google Play store for the details.

Nikon D610 Rumored For 7-8 October Announcement

Nikon D610 Rumored For 7 8 October AnnouncementBack in August, it was rumored that Nikon was set to announced a couple of new cameras, and the Nikon D610 was one of them. The camera is is expected to be the successor of the Nikon D600 and according to the folks at Nikon Rumors, they are expecting the announcement to take place on the 7th-8th of October. According to the rumors, the D610 will not feature groundbreaking hardware improvements, but rather a slight upgrade over its predecessor, one of them being improved continuous shooting speed which is said to be set at 6fps, versus the 5.5fps on the Nikon D600.

Other specifications include a 24.3MP sensor, an ISO range of 100-6,400, 39-point AF system, 100% viewfinder coverage, Full HD video recording, a 3.2” LCD display, and will not come with WiFi or GPS capabilities which admittedly is a bit odd given that both features are starting to become pretty common in cameras these days. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’re only two weeks off from the rumored announcement so we guess we won’t have to wait too long to see if it pans out.

Sony NEX-7r Sample Photos Leaked By Fashion Photographer

Sony NEX 7r Sample Photos Leaked By Fashion PhotographerWe have been hearing rumors that Sony could be looking to launch a successor to the NEX-7 mirrorless camera, although we were under the impression that the device could be known as the Sony NEX-7n. However according to a recent post by New York fashion photographer, Clayton Nelson, the device could be known as the NEX-7r instead. This is according to a series of photos that Nelson uploaded onto his Facebook page claiming that the photos were taken by said device. The photos have since been removed (it has been speculated that Sony allowed Nelson to upload the photos to create some suspense), but according to Nelson who wrote at that time, the photos were taken “with the Sony NEX-7R, a new prototype APS sensor digital camera.”

Nelson also added, “These cameras are far beyond playthings. I believe that they can be utilized as substantial tools in an artistic format. They are certainly not toys…” Unfortunately at this point in time we can’t tell what sort of specs we are looking at here, or what the overall camera design would look like (presumably similar to the NEX-7 albeit with some minor changes), so we guess we will just have to wait and see what Sony has in store for us during the official reveal. It has been speculated that Sony could take the PhotoPlus Expo has a launching ground for their full-frame NEX camera, so perhaps the NEX-7r could be unveiled then as well.
