Additional Canon EOS 7D MK II Specs Revealed [Rumor]

Additional Canon EOS 7D MK II Specs Revealed [Rumor]The Canon EOS 7D MK II has yet to be announced, although if the rumors are to be believed, it seems that we can look forward to an announcement this year. In fact the latest rumor had us believing that CP+ could be the platform in which Canon unveiled the camera, but unfortunately CP+ has come and gone with no announcement of the device. In any case while we are waiting on an official announcement from Canon, additional specifications of the camera have surfaced, thanks to a media presentation for the Panasonic Lumix GH4 in which the camera was compared against other models from different manufacturers.

As you can see in the screenshot above, one of the compared models was that of the Canon EOS 7D successor, which is widely believed to be the EOS 7D MK II. There’s no telling if these specs are the official ones, so try not to read too much into it for now. According to the list of specs, the EOS 7D MK II will feature a 20MP sensor, an ISO range of 100-12,800 (25,6000 extended), shutter speed of 1/8000, quiet shutter mode, phase detect AF, 8fps continuous shooting, a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display, and just like the EOS 7D, the camera will be weather sealed as well. In any case we’re not sure when Canon’s next announcement will be, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more info.

    Sony WX350 Compact Zoom Camera

Sony WX350 Compact Zoom CameraZoom cameras come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from DSLR cameras with extremely bulky zoom lenses, or DSLR-like cameras which are more compact and feature optical zoom, and then there are also the compact zoom cameras whose lens might not necessarily be as huge or as long as interchangeable lenses, but makes up for it by being slim and small enough to slip into your pocket. Sony’s DSC-WX350 is just that camera and if a small and pocketable zoom camera is what you’re after, perhaps this could be of interest to you. (more…)

    Sony a6000 Camera Officially Launched

Sony a6000 Camera Officially LaunchedSony puts an end to the a6000 (alpha 6000) camera by releasing the official specifications and information about it. First of all, keep in mind that this is an NEX-style interchangeable lens camera and not a DSLR camera. It’s not new, but if you missed it, Sony is phasing out the NEX product name, which will eventually be completely merged with the “Alpha” line of products. I know, it’s a bit confusing and I liked the NEX name, but if you do a little bit of homework, it should OK.

Sony wants to position the a6000 somewhere between NEX-5T and the DSLR a65. The goal is to provide enough quality that DSLR users would buy it because it’s compact, while at the same time targeting customers who may otherwise be shopping for a mid-range DSLR. In short, the a6000 is Sony’s sweet spot between image quality, size and price. That’s what the current NEX-6 is and therefore it will land in the same price range (around $650, body only). (more…)

Canon G1 X II Appears On Best Buy Ahead Of Announcement

Canon G1 X II Appears On Best Buy Ahead Of AnnouncementJust the other day we reported on additional leaked photos of the upcoming Canon G1 X II. The camera is expected to be announced at CP+ which will be taking place later this week and is also expected to be the successor of the Canon G1 X. We’re not sure when exactly will Canon release the camera and put it up for sale, but presumably it could be pretty soon, thanks to a listing on Best Buy’s website. Unfortunately the listing has since been taken down, but we can only assume that someone over at Best Buy might have accidentally put it up a little earlier than expected, but at least we know that the device is for real.

Thanks to the listing, additional photos and specifications of the camera have been revealed, some of which contradicts what we had heard earlier. For example the camera is said to pack a 20.2MP sensor but according to the listing, the camera will instead feature a 13.1MP in the 4:3 format, or 12.8MP in the 3:2 format. It will come with a 1.5-inch CMOS sensor and will be able to shoot at 3fps with AF, or 5fps with focus locked. The accompanying lens will be a 24-120mm f/2.0-3.9 one and we will see Canon’s DIGIC 6 image processor under the hood as well. The G1 X II will also come with a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display that can be tilted, two control rings, WiFi and NFC connectivity, and will be priced at $799. No word on availability but hopefully we will learn more at CP+, so check back with us then for the details.

Canon EOS Kiss X70 Specs Revealed

Canon EOS Kiss X70 Specs RevealedA couple of days ago, we reported that Canon was prepping a successor to the Rebel T3/EOS 1100D. Well thanks to the folks at Canon Rumors, the alleged final specifications of the device has been revealed, and it will also be known as the EOS Kiss X70. So what kind of specs can we expect from one of Canon’s entry-level cameras? For starters it would seem that the EOS Kiss X70 will pack an 18MP APS-C sensor and will be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor. It will be able to shoot at 3fps in terms of continuous shooting and have an ISO range of 100-6,400 (12,800 extended).

Its shutter speed will also range from as quick as 1/4000 seconds to as long as 30 seconds for those who are interested in long exposure photography. The EOS Kiss X70 will also come with a 3-inch LCD display and will be able to  capture videos in Full HD quality at 30fps. There will be as many as five different creative filters that photographers can apply to their photos. The camera will also pack an LP-E10 battery and will weigh around 435g for the body-only. Unfortunately pricing and availability has not yet been revealed, but hopefully we will be learning more about the camera soon at CP+, but until then, take it with a grain of salt for now.

Additional Canon G1 X II Photos Leaked

Additional Canon G1 X II Photos LeakedJust the other day, a photo of the upcoming Canon G1 X II was leaked. The camera is said to be the successor of the Canon G1 X and is apparently primed for an announcement on the 12th of February which so happens is a day ahead of CP+ which will be taking place on the 13th of February in Tokyo, Japan. Now thanks to the folks at Digicame-Info, they have managed to get their hands on additional leaked photos of the upcoming camera, although based on what we can see, it looks like the camera is still keeping its G1 X branding with no markings to indicate if this is the Mark II version.

However the fact that the camera appears to have a WiFi sticker on it would suggest that this is not the original G1 X, but rather its successor, although we guess anyone could have easily photoshopped that in. In any case as a quick recap for those wondering about the G1 X II, the camera is said to share similar features to the original G1 X. It will pack a 20.2MP 1.5-inch CMOS sensor and will come with a 24-120mm lens with an aperture of f/2.0-3.9. It will also sport a 3-inch touchscreen LCD display and is said to be slightly slimmer than its predecessor which is admittedly hard to tell from the photos. Either way check back with us on the 12th of February for the details, but until then, take it with a grain of salt.

Canon Rebel T3 Successor Could Be Announced At CP+ [Rumor]

Canon Rebel T3 Successor Could Be Announced At CP+ [Rumor]CP+ is that time of the year where camera manufacturers get to show off their brand new wares. The event is being held in Tokyo, Japan this week and according to the rumors, Canon is expected to announce several new compact cameras, and for budding photographers who would love to get their hands on an entry-level camera, word has it that Canon could be looking to introduce the successor of the Rebel T3/EOS 1100D (the cameras are the same, it’s just known differently in other markets).

The Rebel T3 was announced back in 2011 and was launched for $1,099 with the kit lens bundled. It’s definitely not cheap but as far as these types of cameras are concerned, it is definitely cheaper compared to higher-end models, like the EOS 7D or the EOS 5D MK III, for example. In any case with the Rebel T3 being about 3 years old now, we guess it is about time that Canon introduce a successor, so announcing it at CP+ would not be completely out of the question. Unfortunately apart from the possibility that a successor could be revealed, not much else is known about the camera, but do check back with us later in the week to see if there is any additional information to be had.

Panasonic Lumix GH4 Priced At €1,499 On Dutch Retailer’s Website

Panasonic Lumix GH4 Priced At €1,499 On Dutch Retailers WebsiteJust the other day Panasonic announced their latest camera in the form of the Lumix GH4, the successor to the Lumix GH3 that was launched a couple of years ago. Unfortunately apart from mentioning all the specifications of the Lumix GH4, Panasonic declined to mention when the camera would be released or how much it would cost. Perhaps they were saving the announcement for CP+ or perhaps the pricing would differ from region to region, so they weren’t able to dive into specifics just yet. That being said, it looks like a Dutch retailer by the name of CameraNu has started to take pre-orders for the Lumix GH4 where they have priced the device at €1,499 for the body only.

This roughly translates to about $2,045 for the body-only if it were to be sold in the US. However like we said, pricing for different markets will not necessarily maintain the same price or its equivalent in local currency as different countries have different tax laws. The PlayStation 4’s price in Brazil is proof of that. In any case since Panasonic has yet to make the official announcement on price, perhaps we can use the Dutch retailer’s pricing as a benchmark for now, so if you’re thinking about getting the Panasonic Lumix GH4, perhaps you might want to start putting some money aside.
