Nikon Reportedly Replacing Some D600 Cameras With D610 Units

d610Back in 2013, Nikon announced a new DSLR camera in the form of the Nikon D610. The camera was not exactly a huge upgrade over the Nikon D600 which was announced back in 2012, but one of the main things that it did was to solve the issue of dust particles landing on the sensor of the camera which we can only imagine is quite annoying when trying to take a photo, or having photos ruined because of a speck of dust. Now it does seem a little bit unfair that Nikon D600 owners still have to stick to their cameras, unless of course they’re willing to spend more money and get the D610, but it looks like Nikon could be replacing some D600 units with D610 for either free or for a small fee.

This is according to the folks at Nikon Rumors who have been receiving reports from Europe and the US where Nikon  has been replacing their D600 cameras with D610 units when they send them in for repair or cleaning, and in some instances, customers were charged a small fee if they wanted to upgrade from the D600 to the D610. We’re not sure how Nikon determines if a customer is eligible for an upgrade to the D610. It could depend on how many times you have come in for a sensor cleaning, or it could be dependent on how new your D600 unit was. In any case this seems like a departure from Nikon’s standard operating procedure in which they basically replace the shutter mechanism for D600 units.

Sony NEX-6/NEX-7 Successor To Ship In April, Could Cost $1,100 [Rumor]

nex-7We have been hearing rumors about a possible Sony NEX-7 successor for a while now, although when exactly will the camera actually be made a reality remains to be seen. In any case according to the latest rumors from Sony Alpha Rumors, it has been suggested that Sony could be looking to announce new high-end APS-C E-mount cameras that will replace both the NEX-6 and the NEX-7, and that it is rumored to begin shipping on in April following its announcement in February. With the February date, it is possible that Sony will be announcing their new cameras at CP+, a photography-related event that will be taking place in the month of February.

Additional rumors about the possible NEX-6/NEX-7 successor includes its price. According to their tipster, the camera is said to cost around 800 Euro, which is about $1,100 when converted which seems about right for the NEX-7’s successor, although admittedly pretty expensive for such a small device. The camera is also rumored to have a faster AF system, a faster imaging processor, and improved image quality and EVF. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully additional details will be revealed come February. After all it has been a while since Sony announced the NEX-7 and we guess it’s about time that it got updated.

    Additional Fujifilm X-T1 Specs Revealed

Fujifilm-X-T1-camera-leakFujifilm is expected to announce their new camera, the Fujifilm X-T1 on the 28th of February, at least that’s what their teaser seemed to suggest. It wasn’t long after that photos of the camera made their way online and now thanks to new leaks, additional specifications of the X-T1 have been revealed. What we know so far about the camera is that it will pack a 16MP APS-C X-Trans sensor II. It is also rumored to sport a larger EVF, 8fps shooting with AF tracking, a weather-sealed body that would make it ideal for outdoors photography, a tilt screen LCD, and will come with WiFi support to allow it to make wireless transfers from the camera to other devices, such as mobile or onto laptops.

Well according to the new rumors, the X-T1 is said to feature a single card slot, as opposed to dual card slots that was previously speculated. It is also expected to be around the same size as the X-E2 and will not be smaller. There will be manual focus features available in the EVF, and will cost $1,300 for the body-only, $1,800 for the kit price, although it seems that there will also be a new hotshoe flash that will be included. Sony A77 Successor Rumored For June Release

Sony A77 Successor Rumored For June ReleaseFrom what we heard back in 2013, the Sony A77’s successor had been rumored for a release in 2014. Considering that the camera had been released in 2011 and that we’re now in 2014, we guess it’s about time that Sony announce an upgrade to the A77 especially in light of the competition who has released newer and better cameras lately. Now the good news is that according to new rumors from Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that we can look forward to the A77’s successor come June 2014. The website is reporting that their trusted source has revealed that the camera will be released in June 2014, although we’re not sure if the camera will be announced at an earlier date.

Their source has also stated that the A77’s successor will not be a camera with incremental upgrades, but will instead feature some new hardware. This also seems to be in line with Sony’s new direction in which incremental upgrades are passed on in favor of more exciting and innovative features. Unfortunately their source did not reveal any of the specs of the A77’s successor, so we guess we will just have to wait for Sony to make their official announcement, which has been speculated for April. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us at a later date for the details!

    Fujifilm Officially Teases The X-T1

Fujifilm Officially Teases The X T1Earlier we had reported that thanks to a sighting in the Japanese newspaper, Fujifilm appeared to have teased an upcoming camera in the form of the Fujifilm X-T1. Well for those who remained a bit skeptical over the somewhat blurry and pixelated image, it seems that Fujifilm has decided to make things a little more “official” by announcing a teaser on its website where the image above was posted, essentially the same image as the one from before and also confirming that the company would have something to announce on the 28th of January 2014, which before that was also one of the rumored dates of the X-T1’s launch.

Fujifilm has yet to confirm the specs of the camera, but based on what we know and what the rumors are saying, the X-T1 is expected to sport a retro-ish design as you can see pictured above. The rumors also claim that it will sport a 16MP APS-C X-Trans sensor II, 8fps with AF tracking shooting, an interchangeable X-mount lens, and will also come with a weather sealed body that would make the camera a pretty handy tool for photographers who typically shoot outdoors. No telling how much it will cost or when it will be released, but hopefully those are details that Fujifilm will share with us on the 28th of January, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.

Fujifilm X-T1 Spotted In Japanese Newspaper

Fujifilm X T1 Spotted In Japanese NewspaperPhotographers who are on the lookout for a new camera might be interested to learn that Fujifilm might have a new camera to announce later on this month. According to the rumors, Fujifilm is expected to announce their new Fuji X-T1 camera on the 28th of January 2014, and now thanks to a sighting in the Japanese newspapers, an image of the X-T1 has somehow made its way into publication despite not having been formally announced. The photo does not show much unfortunately and attempts to zoom in have resulted in a rather blurred and pixelated image.

In the meantime for those wondering what sort of specifications we might be able to expect, the rumors have suggested that the camera will be weather sealed for starters, making it a great camera for the outdoors. It has also been rumored to sport a bigger and better EVF compared to previous models, a 16MP APS-C X-Trans sensor II, 8fps with AF tracking shooting, support for UHS-II SD memory card that allows for fast writing speeds, and will be designed to resemble the Fujica ST which is a retro-ish sort of look, something we’re sure old school photographers might remember fondly. Paramount To Start Distributing Their Movies In Digital Format In The US

Paramount To Start Distributing Their Movies In Digital Format In The USFor decades, the film industry has relied on the 35mm film to capture and distribute their movies to cinemas around the world. However it looks like that will soon change as reports have surfaced, claiming that Paramount could be the first major studio to send their major movies to American theaters in digital format, and that future releases by the studio will all be in digital. While the digital format has been around for a while now, many studios have been hesitant to make the switch to the format completely as the film format is still a popular choice amongst film purists, and also the fact that not all theaters have digital equipment, so by disregarding some theaters, studios could stand to lose a fair amount of money.

The semi-good news is that Paramount will continue producing film but they will be sent to other parts of the world, such as Latin America and other markets where most theaters rely on film to screen their movies. It is expected that eventually studios will make the switch to digital as it is clearly a cheaper alternative compared to film, where a disc could cost less than $100 compared to $2,000 for film prints. As it stands, about 8% of US theaters do not have the necessary equipment to show digital films, meaning that these theaters will be forced to upgrade or risk closure.

    Olympus OMD E-M10 Photos Leaked

Olympus OMD E M10 Photos LeakedWe have been hearing the rumors that Olympus has been working on the OMD E-M10 camera which is said to be announced in the near future, and now thanks to the folks at Digicame-Info, photos of the device have made their way online. Based on what we see, and assuming they are accurate, it looks like the OMD E-M10 will be sharing the same design philosophy of the OMD E-M5, which is one that seems a bit retro/vintage which we’re sure will appeal to some photographers who might be able to appreciate that kind of look.

As for its specs, naturally Olympus has not confirmed anything yet but based on the rumors, the OMD E-M10 will sport an EVF, built-in flash, a 16MP sensor which is the same as the E-M5 but without PDAF, a TruePic VII processor similar to the one found in the E-M1, 3 axis stabilization, and will be launched with a new compact zoom kit lens. In terms of pricing, the rumors are saying that the OMD E-M10 will be priced at around $760 for the body-only, while the version that comes bundled with the kit lens will retail for $900. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but it is possible that the camera will be announced at CP+, so check back with us then for the details.
