EA Denies Receiving ‘Truckload Of Money’ From Apple

EA Denies Receiving Truckload Of Money From Apple

Plants vs Zombies, an Electronic Arts title, is a popular mobile game. The sequel was released for iOS devices back in August, an Android version is yet to be released. Earlier today we reported that Apple was alleged to have given EA “a truckload of money” to hold off on releasing Plants vs Zombies 2 for Android. Electronic Arts, in an official statement, says that no money was exchanged between Apple and EA for this purpose.

Head of EA Labels Frank Gibeau is rumored to have said in an internal meeting that Apple paid a “truckload” of money, however Cupertino has flat out denied any involvement in this matter. EA claims that the comment from an internal meeting has been “taken out of context,” adding that “reports of a paid relationship between Apple and EA are factually inaccurate.” Now its not unusual for some games to be exclusive to a particular platform of device, marketing agreements which allow this are routinely made. So for all we know, Apple and EA might just have entered into a marketing agreement, though none is confirming if this is indeed true. So even if you don’t believe the quote was taken out of context, it has already been rumored today that Plants vs Zombies 2 for Android might be released next month.

Plants Vs Zombies 2 Could Arrive On Android In October

Plants Vs Zombies 2 Could Arrive On Android In OctoberGood news Android gamers, if you were looking forward to playing EA’s Plants vs Zombies 2, you will be able to get your hands on the game come October, although specific release dates were not mentioned. The game was originally planned for a summer release, but as you might recall from our earlier report, EA alleged that Apple had paid them a lot of money to delay the game as much as possible for the Android platform which is a pretty serious allegation.

The game has been available for iOS gamers for a while now, and Chinese Android consumers when it was released earlier this month, but for Android gamers around the world, we guess you will be able to get your hands on the game in October. The game will feature a bunch of new characters, such as zombies from other worlds along with new plants, plant food, and power ups. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for a specific release date, but are you guys looking forward to the game finally making its way onto Android devices after so long?

Plants vs. Zombies 2 Now Available On iOS

Plants vs. Zombies 2 Now Available On iOS

It’s been a long time coming for fans of PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies 2 as the company originally told us the game would be releasing on July 18, but it was later delayed in order to fine-tune the game a bit before its worldwide release. As you could probably guess by the title of this story, Plants vs. Zombies is now officially available exclusively on iOS.

Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time has been available in Australia for over a month to allow EA to ensure all of its back-end systems were able to handle a number of complex elements such as cross-device saves and the creation of player accounts. It looks like the time Plants vs. Zombies 2 had in Australia did EA some good as so far, the game has been available on iOS for under 12 hours without any issues rising from its launch.

Fans of the original Plants vs. Zombies grew concerned over the freemium price structure revealed to be included in Plants vs. Zombies 2, but in my experience playing the game for a few hours, I can tell you so far I haven’t experienced anything that could take away from enjoying the game so far. If you’re a true PvZ fan, then you should head over to the App Store and download PvZ 2 immediately.

‘Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time’ coming this July, finally (video)

'Plants vs Zombies 2 It's About Time' coming this July, finally video

Come on, admit it: you’ve all secretly been longing for more Plants vs. Zombies action, right? Well fans, today’s your lucky day. PopCap‘s just uploaded a YouTube video announcing that the sequel to its wildly successful game — appropriately called Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time — will be launched this July. The company makes fun of itself in the video, which shows frustrated gamers yelling and asking for a sequel to the popular game. It’s unclear which platform the new title will support at launch, but the original Plants vs. Zombies — which is four years old now — first appeared on Mac and PC in 2009 before making its way to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PS Vita, Chrome, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and even Bada (!). The game’s success was likely one of the reasons EA acquired the company in 2011. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have to find our Samsung Wave review unit so we can play Plants vs. Zombies on that long forgotten mobile OS. Hit the break for PopCap’s video.
