Black Rock Shooter: The Game Releasing On PSN On April 24

As a regular anime watcher, you don’t know how upsetting it is to know shows that I thoroughly enjoyed have video games that are either based on the show or continue its story only available in Japan. I could import them, but seeing how I can’t read a lick of Japanese, it could be rather difficult to do so. That’s why when I heard not only would the U.S. be getting a game based on a popular anime series, but also one of my favorites as well, then I knew I had to write about it.

NIS America published the first trailer for Black Rock Shooter: The Game over the weekend which will be an RPG based on the Black Rock Shooter franchise which stars a mysterious girl with a glowing blue eye who needs to save the world. The game was originally released in Japan back in August 2011, which probably explains why it’ll be available for the PSP when it’s released in the U.S. on April 24. For you PS Vita owners, the game will also be made available on the PlayStation Network for your downloading needs.

Black Rock Shooter: The Game heads to PSN on April 23rd

Black Rock Shooter: The Game, spawned by the Japanese media franchise Black Rock Shooter and released by Imageepoch, will be making its way to the United States April 23rd via the PlayStation Network. It will make its way to Europe a day after. The game was initially released on the PlayStation Portable in Japan in August 2011, however, it’s just finally made its way on over to us. The game will be available for $19.99.

Black Rock Shooter The Game coming to playstation network april 23rd

The United States and Europe version of the game will be released by NIS America. In the game, you play as the Black Rock Shooter, a battle android awakened in the year 2051 AD to end the 19-year battle between the alien race that invaded Earth and the 12 surviving human beings left on Earth. She, and her lack of clothing and armor, is the only hope in saving the planet.

This is an action-RPG, so the game focuses on character development. As you advance more into the story, you will be able to unlock more skills and more enhancements for your character. You will have access to a variety of weapons and vehicles to take out the alien race. In the game, you don’t just hack and slash. You have to evade enemy attacks, keep track of your heat gauge, and accurately fire you weapon.

You will have to complete missions in order to learn new skills and abilities, and unlock extra features in the game. You are able to use 4 unique skills at a time in battle. In order to survive certain types of enemies, you have to modify your skill bars accordingly. Don’t let the petite, anime characters fool you, this game is jam-packed with action. In similar news, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories should be heading to the PlayStation Network right about now.

Sony PlayStation 4 Could Be Fully Unveiled During An Event In May [Rumor]

Sony PlayStation 4 Could Be Fully Unveiled During An Event In May [Rumor]During Sony’s PlayStation announcement back in February, while the console itself was officially announced and had its controller revealed, one of the main things missing was the actual console itself. While we’re sure that some gamers aren’t too fussed about what the console actually looks like, we’re sure that many are curious anyway. It would be tantamount to Apple announcing the new iPhone without actually revealing the device itself, or Samsung announcing the Galaxy S4 and all its features without the actual device.

In any case while the Sony PS4 could be seeing a release in October, a source who spoke to the folks at PCGamer suggested that the console could be revealed during a special event held in May prior to E3. We’re not sure what will be announced at this rumored event, but we’re guessing the actual console itself, its pricing, bundles, SKUs and whatnot. We’ll take this with a grain of salt for now, but with May being pretty close to E3, we wouldn’t be surprised if this were true.

Epix hits PlayStation 3 today, arriving on Vita in coming weeks

Took a couple of months, but EPIX is finally ready to fulfill its promise of PlayStation 3 movie streaming today. The network’s launching its app for the console, giving users access to some 3,000-plus titles including the likes of The Avengers, Skyfall and The Hunger Games, plus a slew of documentaries, concerts and such. The app itself is free, but requires a premium subscription to really do its job. In fact, if you’re already a paid-up member of PlayStation Plus, you’ll get a free movie or special every week. A more handheld version of the service is set to hit the Vita in “the coming weeks,” according to the company.

GTA Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories heads to PSN next week

Rockstar will be releasing Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories to the PlayStation Network next week. The games will be available for $9.99/9.99 euros/7.99 pounds a piece. These games are the prequels to their PlayStation 2 counterparts, and they bring in a variety of new features introduced in later installments of the franchise, including motorcycles, more in-door environments, clothing options, and more.

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories Vice City Stories head to PSN next week

GTA: LCS takes place 3 years before Grand Theft Auto III. Players will notice a nostalgic feel to the game, as it essentially has many similarities. However, there will be some significant changes in the scenery to the game. For example, the construction site located in Fort Staunton in GTA III will be a little “Italy District” in LCS instead. Also similar to GTA III, you will be unable to swim in LCS. Jumping into the water will kill you.

GTA: VCS features some major changes, as well as several, similar aspects from its counterpart. The hand-to-hand combat system has received a major upgrade, where players are now able to grapple/throw enemies. There is a new “empire-building” feature in the game that allows players to operate businesses on property obtained from enemy gang members. One of the classic elements included in the game is the option to take on side missions.

While both games did have an online multiplayer feature on the PlayStation Portable, it’s still up in the air whether or not those features will be available on the PlayStation 3. These games should serve as a great distraction until Grand Theft Auto V comes out. GTA V is expected to come out on September 17th of this year. Fans have been waiting anxiously to get their hands on the game, and Rockstar attempts to curb their cravings by releasing a plethora of screenshots.

Diablo III’s next big “oops”

This week it’s been revealed that Blizzard Entertainment’s own Diablo III will be coming to the PlayStation 4 without access to the Real Money Auction House still present in the desktop PC iteration. Though this might have some odd effects on those hoping to play the game with access to weapons, armor, and everything in-between with their own real-world cash, Blizzard is presenting a firm “not a chance” as they suggest that, if they could, they’d take the whole mess out of the game entirely.

getcash

If you have a travel down our Diablo III tag portal, you find a series of stories that are just as often negative and full of disappointment as they are exciting and action-packed. This release was one of the most long-awaited in the history of gaming, with 8 years separating the second installment of the series (Diablo II in 2000) and the announcement of this title.

Though Diablo III was first announced in 2008, it was only actually released to the public on May 15th, 2012. That’s one massive amount of time for a game to be in development, especially with the 5-minutes-of-fame atmosphere we’re in now. Then there’s the bits and pieces that Blizzard has had to change right from the outset. Today’s big kicker is the announcement from former Diablo 3 Game Director Jay Wilson.

“Most of the auction house’s use is with in-game virtual gold.”

Speaking with Joystiq this week about Diablo III’s real money action house, he suggested that the feature has “really hurt the game.” According to Wilson, over 50 percent of the players that play regularly use the auction house, while most of the auction house’s use is with in-game virtual gold rather than with real cash.

Because of this gold use, not necessarily the real money, motivation to collect gold and broken items (otherwise useless, able to be sold in the game to virtual vendors for gold), have become far more popular goals for users. There’s simply not as much junk everywhere anymore – Diablo II continues to be a massive mess of item drops and coins.

“I think we would turn it off if we could, [but it’s] not as easy as that.” – Wilson

Citing the near-impossible task of figuring out how much of the Diablo III user population wants the auction house to stick around or be kicked to the curb, Wilson was clear on one point: they are looking for a “solution.” A solution to what, exactly, we might never know.

PlayStation 4 Demand To Outpace Supply, Says GameStop

PlayStation 4 Demand To Outpace Supply, Says GameStop

When the PlayStation 4 was announced, we’re sure a good majority of you went out the following day to your local GameStop to try to pre-order the console, even though no retailer has announced they’re officially taking pre-orders for it. But GameStop’s President revealed in an earnings call yesterday “nearly 900,000 members have already signed up for the PlayStation 4 First to Know List” which helps keep its customers informed on the upcoming console and it also serves as a pretty strong indicator of many people are considering pre-ordering it.

If the nearly 900,000 members is any indication, Bartel is already predicting demand for the PlayStation 4 will outpace GameStop’s supply. “Although we have been given no official numbers by Sony, we do believe that demand will far outpace the supply of this product during the launch window.” (more…)

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories Headed To PSN Next Week

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories Headed To PSN Next Week

Rockstar Games has been steadily re-releasing its Grand Theft Auto games on the PlayStation Network as we’ve seen releases for Grand Theft Auto 3 , Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The only other Grand Theft Auto games that have yet to be released onto the PSN are its Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, and those are the two exact games that are being planned for release next week.

Both Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories will be PlayStation 2 Classics, meaning they won’t have any sort of enhancements to the games graphics or gameplay. Both games will be exact replications of the previously released games, except they’ll be available as a digital download on your PlayStation 3, which means you can finally trade in your PlayStation 2 copies that we know you’ve played to death from the moment they were released.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City and Vice City will be available for $9.99 next week, which means it’ll most likely be available on Tuesday when PlayStation updates its PlayStation Store.
