Pasta Pops: Spaghetti-Flavored Popsicles

If there’s one place where spaghetti-flavored popsicles would exist, then it would be Japan. True enough, frozen treats that are packaged and sold as being spaghetti-flavored are available in the land of the rising sun.

To the adventurous, this is just another unique treat to try. For others, it’s something to avoid at all costs.

Icy tomatoes and bits of meat don’t exactly sound like a very delectable frozen treat. However, while the image above of the spaghetti popsicles have made the rounds on the Internet, its actual taste hasn’t been confirmed yet. It could be that it’s packaged as spaghetti popsicles in the sense that it’s the color of tomato sauce when it’s mushed with the pasta, though I prefer to assume that it’s made from actual spaghetti and meatballs.

Gari-Gari Kun, the company that makes these popsicles, also make Corn Pottage and Rice Cakes with Bean Paste-flavored popsicles.

TAKARA TOMY A.R.T.S – Chupa Chups “ice candy” maker

Takara Tomy Arts is releasing “Okashina Ice Candy Chupa Chups” on April 18. “Okashina” can be translated as “strange”, “weird” or “funny”.
You can basically make a 6cm diameter popsicle with this machine, combining a lollipop and the beverage of your choice.
You simply put a Chupa Chups into the machine and fill with a warmed beverage (warmed juice, milk, soy milk, etc.) and rotate the body with the attached handle to make the candy …

The Empire Strikes Small: Mini AT-ST Popsicle Stick Models

We would all love to have full sized AT-ST models guarding our front yards (or at least for our cats), but sadly that is beyond reach for most of us. At least you can make some mini AT-ST models from popsicle sticks.

mini at st walkers

These “chicken walkers” proved a challlenge to build compared with other projects because of the two skinny mechanical legs that they balance on. So there may be some difficulty here, but nothing that you can’t overcome. All you need is a few tools, popsicle sticks and some glue and Instructables will show you how to create these mini Imperial vehicles after you finish your frozen treats.

Don’t let tiny Ewoks anywhere near them though. It just takes a pair of smart Ewoks and some logs to really mess up an AT-ST’s day and smash it’s head in.

Star Wars Lightsaber Popsicle Maker: Use These Molds, Luke

Star Wars fans, you’ll soon be able to swing sweet lightsaber popsicles into your mouth, thanks to the Lightsaber Ice Pop Maker from ThinkGeek. Some of you may remember it as one of the geek store’s April Fools jokes.

Each set will come with four hilts – two that resemble Darth Vader’s saber’s hilt and another two that resemble Luke’s – each have LEDs embedded in them to make your popsicles glow.  I guess we could say these are light sabers. But not lightsabers.

Culture + Art + Commerce = Darth Vader and Freddy Krueger Popsicles

Darth Vader might not look it, but he’s actually pretty yummy. I’m not talking about the looks of the actors who played him in the movies, but this blueberry-and-licorice-flavored ice cream shaped in the image and likeness of Luke Skywalker’s greatest enemy (who also happens to be his father!)

Darth Vader Ice CreamIt looks awesome, doesn’t it? Too bad we won’t be seeing it in any grocery stores anytime soon because they were only made by Russia-based design firm Stoyn to “transform dessert into intellectual discourse” and “spur a conversation about the relationship between culture, art, and commerce.”  They have, however, turned up at several art exhibitions, so you might actually get a chance to try one for yourself if you’re in the right place at the right time.

Sounds like they were able to achieve that very complicated-sounding objective using pretty simple but creative means.

Other ice cream designs include Mario, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Chuckie, Freddy Krueger, and Jason X, among others.

Which one’s your favorite?
