Verizon HTC 8X Firmware Update Detailed FurtherIf you happen to rock on to Verizon Wireless as your mobile carrier and Windows Phone as the mobile operating system of choice, then you will be pleased to hear that all your anxious waiting for the ‘Portico’ operating system update will not only come with its fair share of unique features, but you will also be able to enjoy a bunch of special fixes to boot. Some of the new features and improvements are said to accompany the radio/firmware portion of the update, where there will be an extra layer which delivers some carrier-side requested fixes.

With firmware 1532.20.20011.605 and radio 0.17.50.1218 in tow, hopefully your smartphone will gain an improvement in performance where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are concerned, and you can now choose an MP3 file as a ring tone (what the heck!), an incremental security feature so that you can restrict calls to a limited list of numbers, among others. How is your HTC 8X coming along with the latest Windows Phone update from Verizon?

windows phone 8 launch SF 088 640x424 Portico Update For Nokia Lumia 820 And 920 Goes GlobalGood news to those who have been waiting for some time for the Portico update to arrive on the Nokia Lumia 820 as well as the Lumia 920 – it seems that a global rollout is on its way thank to what Nokia Community Manager Micheals has written in the Nokia Forums.

A Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 software update providing performance enhancements for the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920 has started rolling out over the air. Delivery will continue in a phased manner over the coming weeks and is expected to be complete by mid-March. You will receive a notification on your phone when the update is available for you to download.

This particular Portico update will offer enhancements in Messaging, the ability to “Select All” for mass deletion, text replies to incoming calls for those quirky situations, improvements made to Internet Explorer, a more efficient and reliable Bluetooth connection, a better start-up sequence, enhancements in imaging performance and battery management, among others. Windows Phone 8 Portico OS Update

Windows Phone 8 has not been out for that long yet, and here we are with word that the mobile operating system is about to be hit with an upcoming update, which is always a good thing. Originally referred to as Apollo+, it seems that this OS update is being whispered to be prepared for a February 2013 launch at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, where it is tipped to come with a host of tiny patches, fixes and additions to Windows Phone 8 experience. Dubbed “Portico”, this label will continue the Microsoft tradition of Windows Phone operating system codenames to end in the letter “o”, if history is of any indication with NoDo (7.x), Mango (7.5), Tango (7.5 Refresh) and Apollo (8.0).

No idea on whether the whole point of Portico is because of its meaning, which is an extension on a house, but you get the general idea. It is rather unfortunate that very little else is known about this operating system update, so stay tuned.
