The Energy Egg is actually a very simple device which intends to reduce your electricity bill, as it offers home automation all the while improving home safety, now how about that? It arrives in a stylish form factor and is a snap to set up, as you gain intelligent control of all your appliances and prevents wasted electricity. Thanks to cutting-edge motion sensor technology, the Energy Egg’s sensor will be able to know whether someone is in the room or not. The moment it detects a movement, it will double up as a remote control, wirelessly turning on/off lights and appliances depending on your prior preferences.

It is full well capable of controlling the entire range of your devices that have been paired with the unique power strip, socket and light switch. In order to gain the most savings possible, one will have to use the Energy Egg in a room where majority of the devices can be accidentally left on, such as in the bedroom as well as the living room. Since each family’s use of energy is different and dynamic in nature, the amount of money saved can vary between £50 to £150 each year.

To get started, just pair the Energy Egg and power strip wirelessly with but one click of the Energy Egg button. David Wrobel designed a desk for gadget freaks, gamers and other heavy computer users. The Paradise Desk is filled with ports, power plugs and other convenient features that solve several annoyances associated with using computers or gadgets. It’s a desk, a USB hub, a power strip and more.

For starters, the Paradise Desk has seven USB 3.0 ports, three of which are in at the center of the desk. There are three more at the back and one on the upper left. On the upper right of the desk are four power outlets, while on the lower right are 3.5mm jacks for a microphone and two audio output devices.

There’s a switch on the desk for flipping between the audio outputs. You can plug in a pair of headphones and speakers at the same time, and switch between the two without unplugging one or the other.

The desk also has a DVI input and a platform for a computer tower. The cables for the various ports are hidden on swing drawers and come out of the leg near the platform. To top it all off, the surface of the desk is covered in carbon fiber vinyl and two LED light bars at the rear provide ambient light.

Pledge at least $349 (USD) on Kickstarter to get a Paradise Desk as a reward. David has more features lined up as stretch goals for his fundraiser, including an HDMI port and a cup holder. I’m surprised he doesn’t have an option to order a desk with a computer inside. Or a desk with a built-in person. That one will really take a lot of work out of our hands.

Like the Pivot Power, 360 Electrical’s products allow you to cram in electrical plugs and adapters that would otherwise not fit in one outlet or power strip. But unlike Quirky’s power strip where the whole body is adjustable, 360 Electrical’s products have sockets that rotate in place.

I’m not sure how the sockets work, but according to 360 Electrical’s website,“internal premium copper-to-copper contacts provide unlimited 360 degree rotation and continuous power even during rotation.”

One of the biggest challenges any adult can face in their lifetime is how best to hide their power strips that they have sprinkled all over their home. How big is your cable squid? Mine is pretty big, and threatening to take over more and more space on and around my desk. It’s never been easy to organize cables, but Switzerland’s Punkt seeks to change this by simply hiding away all of your cables in a sleek box.

The Punkt ES 01 was designed by Georges Moanack, and it allows you to tuck away cables under its rounded lid. Chaos becomes organized, and it’s good looking enough that you won’t be worried if people see it in your home office. Its neutral colors blend in with most interiors. It’s got a soft white LED that indicates its power status.

The ES 01 has 5 sockets, a removable lid, and a central power button to power all of the outlets off simultaneously. The way that the sockets are positioned is supposed to allow you to plug in power supplies that cover two or three sockets.

The ES 01 comes in red, white or black and will be available shortly. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s only going to be available with European sockets for now.
