EA’s Battlefield 4 will be released this fall where it’s expected to be released onto the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and possibly next-generation consoles that don’t include the Wii U, which has many long-time fans giddy with excitement. To help further fan these flames, EA released a new 17 minute gameplay video of Battlefield 4 in action, which we knew you would want to see for yourself.

With Battlefield 4, its developer, DICE, is looking to finally deliver a single-player experience that Battlefield fans would actually want to play instead of it being an optional feature to their multiplayer experience. Capcom has been delighting its faithful legion of old-school gaming fans with remastered versions of some of its most popular classic games. We’ve seen its Street Fighter series, Bionic Commando and some other classic titles remastered, but this weekend, they announced one of their most iconic adventures will be remastered for the current generation of gamers to enjoy.

Capcom’s DuckTales Remastered is being developed by Double Dragon Neon’s WayForward to deliver a mix of 3D backgrounds with 2D characters with Scrooge McDuck experiencing a set of adventures that will take him all over Duckberg. Not only will the game be receiving a complete remastering, but its soundtrack will also be remastered, which you can hear the original DuckTales theme song in the trailer above. (more…)

You scratch my back, and I will scratch yours, and that is the mantra that Sony intends to fall back upon this time around for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Basically, SCEE has just announced a new promotion which will see PlayStation Plus subscribers gain from an additional 3 months of free subscription whenever they decide to pick up a 12 month subscription. If you were to break it down in mathematical terms, that would mean getting an additional 25% value on top of your initial £39.99/49.99 EUR “investment” over at the UK and European PlayStation Store.

It remains to be seen just how long will this promotion last, and whether it will be made available to other territories or not. This particular move arrives hot on the heels of GAME’s PlayStation Plus price cut that happened last week, where a 12 month PlayStation Plus subscription was given a huge discount to a mere £19.99. Could it be a knee-jerk reaction from the folks over at SCEE? Only time will tell, but gamers do seem to be the ones who benefit from what could be the beginning of a price war.

Now that The Last of Us’ release date has been pushed back to June 14, the demo Sony promised would be available early to God of War: Ascension owners is needed now more than ever. God of War: Ascension has officially been released today, and we’re sure a good majority of you are wondering when you could access the demo for The Last of Us.

Naughty Dog revealed the date when the demo for The Last of Us will be accessible to God of War: Ascension owners, which will be made available on May 31. This should give you a two weeks to spend with the demo before the game’s actual release.

As for the rest of you who own a PlayStation 3 and could care less about Kratos and his adventures, neither Naughty Dog nor Sony announced when the demo would be released on the PlayStation Network, but seeing how the God of War: Ascension early-access demo will be available two weeks before the game’s release, we’re sure Sony is planning either a week prior or week of release for the demo.

I’ve been waiting a very long time for somebody to build a single game system which could play all of today’s console games. Well that day is today – courtesy of master modder Ben Heck. For his latest project, Ben has created a single mutant machine that combines a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

Heck’s wood-cased Ultimate Combo System may not be the sleekest and most modern looking thing, but it’s still an impressive build, having combined these three current-gen consoles in a single box. We don’t know too much about the final build other than the picture shown above. However, Ben and element14 have teamed to release a 3-part series chronicling this epic build. Here’s Part 1 for your enjoyment – skip to about 1:25 to get to the meat of the mattter.

Surprisingly, this is the first time that Heck has disassembled a Wii U or the new PS3 super slim, but he digs right in and starts ripping things apart right away, giving us all a glance inside the two most recent consoles. Parts 2 and 3 of the build video will be released on element14 on March 15th and March 23rd, respectively, and will reveal the construction of the case and assembly of all of the components. From what I can tell, the final build will include HDMI switching to a single output, and I’m betting it’ll have a power strip built in so you can plug it in with a single cable – but that’s just conjecture on my part. Personally, I can’t wait to see exactly how the finished thing works.

While I’d assume Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will never collaborate on such a console, you can still get your hands on this one. Those of you interested in the build can enter to win it over on element14 now.
