Ubisoft isn’t afraid of mobile gaming, sees a bright future in Wii U and Oculus Rift

Ubisoft's Alain Corre

Ubisoft’s Alain Corre isn’t worried about the rise in mobile gaming. On the contrary, Corre, who heads up the company’s overseas operations, seems to welcome the uptick in iOS and Android gamers and not resignedly, either. “What we like in mobile gaming is that it’s bringing a lot of new people to games,” he told us. “Which for us is very good because it’s a teaching thing and… at one point, some of them will feel a bit limited with the scope of mobile games and they’ll want to experience something different in gaming.” Whether it’s the limitations of the casual genre or outright boredom, Corre’s confident a chunk of these new gaming converts will seek out home console or PC experiences. Something more along the lines of a Watch Dogs or Assassin’s Creed, perhaps. And with the advent of the next-gen, the timing for this gaming initiation couldn’t be better for Ubisoft.

No words were necessary as Mr. @yosp himself, SCE prez Shuhei Yoshida, casually sat in a chair flipping through the new UI and loading up a quick game of Killzone Shadow Fall. Whether you have loved or loved to hate the PS3’s XMB, this nearly three minute-long demo should fill in many blanks about what life will be like if you pick up one of Sony’s $399 boxes on or about November 15th. India Might Not See Sony’s PlayStation 4 In 2013

India Might Not See Sonys PlayStation 4 In 2013

So we know that the Sony PlayStation 4 will see a release in the US on the 15th of November, before making its way to Europe on the 29th of November, but what about other countries, such as those in the Asia region? Well as far as PlayStation gamers in India are concerned, it seems that a 2013 release of the console for their market is looking very unlikely at the moment. According to Sony Computer Entertainment’s country manager of India, Atindriya Bose, the initial plan was to launch the console about a month after the launch in Europe, placing the console’s release very near the end of the year.

Unfortunately this looks like it will no longer be the case because according to Bose (via MCV India), “That’s the part that is being evaluated. So [I] cannot confirm 2013 immediately as that is almost within a month of the EU launch date. With country logistics and certain regulatory requirements, it looks a pretty tight call.” Granted this probably isn’t news that PlayStation gamers in India want to hear, but on the bright side Sony’s PlayStation 4 launch for 32 countries is significantly higher than the Xbox One’s initial 13 markets.

    Sony’s PS4 Pre-Orders Is Greater Than PS2 And PS3

Sonys PS4 Pre Orders Is Greater Than PS2 And PS3There has been a lot of fuss the past couple of months over the launch of next-gen consoles such as Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, but exactly how big a fuss are we talking about? Well according to Sony Computer Entertainment UK’s chief, Fergal Gara, the pre-orders of the PlayStation 4 are “way over and above and beyond the pre-order number at launch day” when compared to its predecessors, the Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.

Unfortunately Gara stated that they are unable to disclose the number of pre-orders yet, but he did state that it numbers more than a million. Sony is working at the moment to try and fulfill as many pre-orders as they possibly can at the moment so as to satisfy gamers. “We’re doing everything we can to secure every last unit … so we an do out very best to meet the demand as it stands for day one and clearly chasing there after.” Given that pre-orders of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles have been running out at retailers around the world, it is safe to say that this news isn’t all that surprising. The PlayStation 4 has been pegged for a release on the 15th of November, have you placed your pre-order yet?

    Hands-On: PS4 Review

    Hands On: PS4 Review

Me, playing with the PS4 during E3

The PlayStation 4 will ship later this year and since many people may pre-order it based on pre-release information available on the web (like I did), I thought that posting a hands-on review based on the experience gathered from the initial launch and from on our “hands-on” experience of the console at E3 would make sense. By now, most of the PS4-related information is expected to remain unchanged until the public availability, and basically you’re not going to get to know much more (besides launch titles) until the retail units arrive, so here is everything that we do know about PS4. Let’s see if it is for you. (more…)

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Controllers Get Magma Red And Wave Blue Colors

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Controllers Get Magma Red And Wave Blue ColorsDo you think that Sony has the upper hand in the next generation console war when it goes up head to head with Microsoft’s Xbox One? For fans of the Sony gaming console, you will be pleased to hear that the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controllers has just received a couple of color customizations – namely “Magma Red” and “Wave Blue” which will see the black grip material of the base controller being done away with, where in turn, depending on the color that you choose, it will arrive in matte red and blue shades. It does seem as though the colored portion of the controller will remain as a textured surface, to make sure that your hand will still be able to grip it even in the most demanding of situations.

Each of these controllers will cost you $59 or €59/£54, depending on which particular region that you live in. Between the two shades, which one would you go for to complement your living room setup? In fact, does the color of your gaming controller matter to you? You know what they say, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, and so a gaming controller by any other color would perform just as well.

Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 upgrades will run $10, says Activision

'Call of Duty Ghosts' PS3 to PS4 upgrades will run $10, says Activision

During its Gamescon 2013 event, Sony said that upgrades for Playstation 4 games would come at a “significantly discounted price,” though it didn’t offer any details or actual numbers. Now, Activision has said that Call of Duty: Ghosts will cost $10 to upgrade from the PS3 to the PS4, mirroring a similar deal from retailer GameStop for the Xbox One. Based on Sony’s statement, such discounts might be coming for other lynchpin titles for the new console for a limited time period, as well. Meanwhile, if you can’t wait the ten days between the game’s November 5th PS3 launch and the Playstation 4’s November 15th US release, hit the PR after the break.
