Sony lands key deals for PS4 and PS Vita indie games: Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami 2 and more

Sony has long argued that the PS4 and PS Vita are indie-friendly consoles, and it’s backing up words with deeds at Gamescom. The company has landed a PS4 exclusive for the console version of Rogue Legacy. Both the PS4 and Vita are also getting a new version of The Binding of Isaac (called Rebirth), while a new N+ (N++) game is coming to PlayStation hardware. In a few cases, Sony will get first crack at some anticipated games — a Hotline Miami sequel and Guns of Icarus Online will make their console debuts on the PS4 and PS Vita. If your tastes in games venture beyond the mainstream, Sony may have you covered for the foreseeable future.

Sony makes Gran Turismo movie official, GT 6 game to land on December 6

Remember those rumors about Sony making a movie based upon the famed Gran Turismo racing games? Well, today at Gamescom 2013, Sony has officially announced that said film project is in the works. Unfortunately, Sony’s not telling us anything about the story itself (other than fast cars being featured), but we do know it’ll be a “full length feature film.” Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital head is helping make it along with filmmakers Mike de Luca and Dana Brunetti. When will their masterpiece be ready for theaters? We don’t know. What we do know, however, is that the latest iteration of the Gran Turismo gaming series, GT 6 will be making its debut on December 6th of this year.

Sony PlayStation Gamescom 2013 liveblog!

Sony PlayStation Gamescom 2013 liveblog!

While Microsoft continues to trip over itself in the lead up to Xbox One, Sony’s PlayStation 4 message is staying on target and sailing straight into gamers’ good graces. And, after an undisputed win at E3 this year, there’s little doubt Gamescom 2013 will slow Sony’s roll, instead giving the company yet another opportunity to increase its already positive mindshare and deliver on next-gen promises (PS Vita Remote Play, anyone?).

So, what can we expect from Sony’s center stage spectacle today? The company will probably dive a bit deeper into the particulars of its indie strategy and, hopefully, announce a hard date on that PS4 holiday release — which is what most of us care about, anyway. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess. So, hang tight, we’ll be back with the blow-by-blow (and every gloriously awkward corporate potshot) right here at 9AM PST / 12PM EST.

Sony To Share PS4 Release Plans On 20th August

Sony To Share PS4 Release Plans On 20th August

While Sony might have unveiled the PlayStation 4 earlier this year, what many gamers are probably wondering is when exactly will the console be released? Well rumors have suggested that Sony will announce a release date during Gamescom and Sony’s confirmation of a 20th August press conference seems to confirm that, and thanks to a recent post on the official Sony PlayStation blog, the company states that during the event, “release plans for PlayStation 4” is expected to be shared. The company also states that there will be updates provided for the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita.

The latter is particularly interesting because a recent report has suggested that Sony could be looking to introduce a redesigned PS Vita, although the rumor stated that it was expected to be unveiled during the Tokyo Games Show which takes place in September, so perhaps Sony’s PS Vita update during Gamescom could be something else entirely. In any case we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more information and as it stands, the rumors are pointing at a 21st October release, so hopefully Sony will be able to confirm that for us on the 20th of August!

Sony PS4 Pre-Orders Suspended, Says The Telegraph

Sony PS4 Pre Orders Suspended, Says The TelegraphAt the end of this year when the crazy holiday season kicks off with plenty of frenzied shopping going on, you know that the two upcoming gaming consoles, the Sony PS4 and Xbox One from Microsoft are just going to be hot sellers. While both consoles have already been announced a few months back, the Xbox One seems to be getting more press coverage – and not necessarily because of good reasons. Still, pre-orders for the Xbox One and Sony PS4 seem to be pretty all right by estimates.

The Telegraph in the UK has reported that Sony might have directed major retailers in the UK to stop accepting pre-orders for the PS4 simply because they have been going so well. This particular instruction was sent out simply to avoid one simply yet potentially embarrassing pitfall – to avoid stock shortages this coming holiday season. Do you think that Microsoft might follow Sony’s route in this matter eventually, and close the books for the Xbox One pre-orders? Only time will tell, and we the audience, will sit tight and watch. Which particular console would you be gunning for first, and do you plan to pick up both consoles eventually? Building up your game library might be another potential cash drain issue to take into consideration.

Battlefield 4 Lets You Transfer PS3 Stats To PS4

Battlefield 4 Lets You Transfer PS3 Stats To PS4Ah, there is nothing quite like a sense of continuity in life, whether it is in the virtual or real world. After all, we all like to know what’s coming next, as it does seem to be part of our genetic make up to prepare for the future. Not only that, some of us too, have questions about whether there is life after death, with a large percentage of the population believing in the affirmative regardless of their religious inclinations, if any. Gaming, too, has to have a sense of continuity, and Battlefield 4 delivers just that – by allowing you to transfer your hard earned PS3 stats over to the PS4 when the latter finally hits the market.

DICE made this announcement concerning Battlefield 4, ensuring that all the amount of time, sweat, tears and perhaps even blood spent on Battlefield 4 on the PS3, will not go to waste when you perform a console upgrade to the Sony PS4. This coming October 29th, you are able to get back into the game without having to worry about starting right from the bottom. Not only that, Premium membership for Battlefield 4 will also make a return, and this particular membership allows you to enjoy themed digital expansion packs, new weekly content, and personalization options.
