Whatever you do in the next six weeks, don’t spend any money on iPhone accessories. No matter how enticing the sales are, no matter how frayed your case is. There are significant changes coming to Apple’s marquee handset—and soon—that will render them nearly obsolete. More »
The new Hotmail is here, and with it comes a whole new @outlook.com domain to colonize. That means it’s time to act quickly to get your-name@outlook.com. Certain members of our staff with very very common names—not saying who—have scored in the Outlook landgrab. GOGOGOGOGO before it’s too late! Protip: We’ve had better luck going for our full names. Sadly mario@outlook.com was gone before I could get to it. GO! More »
In the months leading up to this very moment, we’ve seen Apple introduce a full set of new MacBook Airs and an extremely high-res Pro of its own — but today the company’s taking a slightly different route, shutting down its doc-sharing iWork.com for good. Not all is lost, however, as this a natural move from the Cupertino outfit to make an expected transition to a more iCloud-heavy ecosystem — a place where you’ll essentially be able to accomplish similar things. The good news is you still have the rest of the day to clean out your invisible locker and save your must-have documents, and in case you need help with that, Apple’s support page (linked below) will fill you in on all those step-by-steps.

European gamers are warned to get something else to do from Thursday afternoon. Sony’s PlayStation Network is set to go offline on that side of the Atlantic starting from 4PM GMT tomorrow, through to 8AM Friday. Maintenance work will pull the PlayStation Store, account management and registration offline for this time, although anyone looking to play online can still do so — as long as they’re signed in to PSN before network… work begins. Updates on Sony’s network tinkering will be posted on both on its own blog and twitter — linked below for your convenience.

Despite some lucky folks claiming they’d received their GS3 order a bit earlier than expected (and others still patiently waiting for delivery), a good chunk of Big Red customers were eagerly looking forward to this past Tuesday, only to be brought down by an unexpected delay. Thankfully for them, though, it looks like today’s the day the Verizon faithful can finally snag one of Samsung’s chart-busting Galaxy S IIIs. As you may or may not know, the network’s offering both the Marble White and Pebble Blue flavors of the device, with the 16GB running at $200 and the spacier 32GB selling for $250 — naturally, this will require a fresh two-year deal. If all that sounds good, then head over to your nearest retail store to get in on the human-centric experience — or you could always take the easier route and snatch one up straight from Verizon’s site.

MobileMe Shuts Down Tomorrow: Save Your Pictures and Files Before They Disappear [Psa]
Posted in: Today's Chili If you didn’t get the memo last year, here’s your last warning: MobileMe is shutting down on Saturday June 30th. That’s tomorrow. If you still have pictures in your MobileMe Gallery or files on iDisk, save it or it’s going bye bye forever! More »
The death knell for MobileMe has been ringing for some time, but if you’ve had your hands on your ears, hoping it’d go away, sadly this isn’t the case. Tomorrow sees the service hang up its storage-boots for the last time, before being brutally put down released to pasture. If the 20GB olive branch Apple offered wasn’t enough to turn you onto iCloud, then this is your last call to pack up your virtual things, and make sure the door doesn’t hit you on the way out. And while breaking up is never easy to do, there are plenty more fish in the sea.
PSA: The end of MobileMe is nigh, time to move on or move out originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 29 Jun 2012 12:17:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
