Burger King Pumpkin Burger: Have it Your Way

It’s that crazy time of the year once again. Spooky costumes, haunted houses, bags full of candy, a pumpkin burger from Burger King. Wait, what? That’s right. The Burger King Pumpkin Burger is only available in Japan, and only for a limited time – unless it’s a big hit – then they will just serve it year round and start counting their stacks of money.

I never thought of combining a hamburger with pumpkin before, myself. I’m not sure how that would taste. Guess folks in Japan will soon find out. Starting next Friday, for a limited time only, Burger King Japan customers can buy a seasonal BK Pumpkin Burger.

It consists of two slices of fried kabocha squash (Japanese pumpkin) with bacon, lettuce, a beef patty, and special sauce made from sesame seeds, peanuts, almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts. Wanna give it a try? It’s just 310 to 590 yen (~$4 to $7 USD), plus the cost of a round trip ticket to Japan.

Gizmo Mogwai Pumpkin: Don’t Feed It After Midnight

The Mogwai are pretty darn cute. That’s how they get you. They lure you in with their cuteness and then you end up giving them water and feeding them after midnight. Then all hell breaks lose when they turn into horrible little monsters.

That makes them perfect for Halloween. You have your cute Mogwai and your scary gremlin all wrapped up in one deceptive little animal. And so this pumpkin is perfect for Halloween. This Gremlins-inspired decoration comes from carver Trevor Grove over at villafanestudios, a man who knows how to make a super detailed pumpkin.

Don’t put this thing in front of your house. If it rains, it will get wet. And you know some kid is going to give it a Snickers bar after midnight.

The winner of the contest will get a $131 ThinkGeek gift certificate and a mystery box filled with cool ThinkGeek goodies. You can send in your templates until October 29, 2012. It sounds like the winners will actually be carved so we can see them. I happen to think the Nyan Cat pumpkin is one of the coolest templates ever.

If you hop over to ThinkGeek you can download templates submitted in past years’ contests including a Boba Fett template, Nyan Cat, and even Sheldon Cooper. I also have a soft spot for the Portal pumpkins and the stormtrooper.

That’s No Moon, It’s a Death Star Pumpkin

I present to you the ultimate power in the Halloween universe. A fully operational Death Star pumpkin. You kids better hold your candy tight otherwise it’s tractor beam will steal your hard earned stash.

This geeky pumpkin was hand painted and it looks like it took a lot of time to get all of that detail. It’s not a real pumpkin, because you wouldn’t want to see a Death star rot after a few weeks. It’s a fake pumpkin painted with UV reactive and glow in the dark paint.

It measures about 7.5″ tall with a 9″ diameter. It was created by Etsy seller LuckyCricketART and will cost you $225 (USD). While that’s a lot of money for a fake pumpkin, I suppose it’s not a bad price at all if you absolutely must destroy Alderaan.
