If you’re in danger of overspending every time you reach for your wallet, then the iBag might just be the thing you need. It’s an interactive wallet of sorts that seals itself shut in order to prevent its owner from spending money on non-essential stuff.

The iBag is dubbed as a “smart purse” that comes built with an Arduino processor and a real-time clock. The clock comes into factor as the bag uses that as the basis for sealing shut: at times when the shopper has been deemed to overspend, the bag can no longer be opened.

Finder.com.au’s iBag prototype has been designed to physically deter shoppers from accessing their wallets. The purse is also equipped with a GPS chip and LED lights that flash when a shopper gets too close to his or her favourite shops, or, as the company puts it: ‘when you’re entering a danger spending zone.’

RFID modules on the bag detect whenever the wallet leaves the purse, and a GSM module alerts someone about the shopper’s overspending habits (or tendency) as it happens.

Having a portable charger could prove to be rather bulky, so why not merge it with something that you bring with you everywhere you go instead? That would make life a whole lot easier, don’t you think so? The integrated high-capacity battery is said to hold enough juice to recharge your smartphone by up to 2 times, while there is an internal 4-LED indicator that tells you just how much more juice it has left.

It’s a clucktch, it’s a henbag, no wait – it’s the Original Chicken Handbag!

It won’t squawk  but it can definitely carry most of your on-the-go essentials. I had no idea chickens were in style these days, but then again, you never can tell what’s going to catch on or not in the cuckoo world of fashion.

The hen featured on the handbag looks particularly happy, don’t you think?

The bag is made from durable rubber, while the handles are tough nylon. It’s also got a nylon base and lining. It looks more like a gag gift to me, but then again, if you can make it work with your outfit, then why not?

Chinese finger traps are probably the bane of many children’s (and android’s) existences. Of course, it’s not much of a scare or prank once you figure out how to get your fingers out of the trap, but the trauma (“I’m going to be stuck like this forever!”) remains.

Picking up on how finger traps work is designer James Piatt, who managed to work its mechanism into a series of ladies’ handbags.

The result? His Finger Trap line of handbags, which requires at least one trapped finger to ‘hold’ the bag. The full-sized version is best carried with three fingers trapped in the handles (or shall I say, finger-dles?) It comes with a shoulder strap, in case you’d prefer to have full use of your bag finger while you’re carrying it.

It’s definitely an unusual design inspired by an equally unusual puzzle. They don’t come cheap, either. The full-sized Finger Trap bag costs $725(USD), while the mini one retails for $125.

While firefighting gear isn’t exactly the most stylish and comfortable stuff to wear, I think we can make an exception for this cool bag, made up to look like a fire extinguisher.

It’s made by the artisans at Russia’s KruKru Studio, using 100% wool felt. The 21″+ long red canister has ample capacity for your small personal accessories, wallet, keys, gadgets, etc. – and you can be pretty confident that they’ll never catch on fire if you’re transporting them inside of an extinguisher. The bag has a nice long strap, and can be worn either like a messenger bag, or carried as a large purse.
