3D Printed NSA Spybot: I Always Feel Like Somebody’s Watching Me

One of the most significant controversies of recent years has been the NSA’s mass surveillance of individuals via telecommunications and internet data monitoring. And while the ‘bots which are watching us are not much more than bits of data coursing through CPUs and electronic storage devices, it’s sometimes easier to imagine a physical manifestation of such unseen evils.

What we have here is just that. Technabob friend and artist Metin Seven designed this satirical, physical version of one of the NSA’s all-knowing, all-seeing spybots, rendering it in 3D. And if you really want one, you can have it 3D printed over at Shapeways. A 4-inch-high full color sandstone print will set you back about $25(USD), though it’ll be rough, not shiny like the rendering above. It’s also available in a variety of other materials, including steel and brass.

Just be careful when you order one, you never know who might be monitoring your purchases.

Secret Base PC Casemod: Cyberpunk over Function

Yeah, there’s a computer in here somewhere. This is Japanese designer Hiroto Ikeuchi’s award-winning casemod, which is basically a toy diorama that erupted over a PC. According to Wired, Hiroto calls the diorama his “secret base.” It’s filled with soldiers, mecha and guns along with gadgets, electronics and trinkets made to look like weapons or heavy machinery.

Router Sweet Router

In the future, when you and your grandkids are gathered over a hologram of a fireplace and they ask you where you think your home is, dust off your ancient tablet and show them Isaac Moore’s profound cross-stitch.

We may mess with cell towers, but we’ll always come home to our router. You can grab Isaac’s cross-stitch pattern on his blog.

Light-up Animated Dinosaur Christmas Lawn Ornament: Jurassic Holidays

We haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, but since the stores are all advertising Christmas goodies that suck, I figured you would want to see something cool. This animated Stegosaurus Christmas lawn ornament goes for $140 and it is easily worth twice as much because dinosaurs and Christmas go together like Fred Flintstone and Brontosaurus burgers.

Its neck and tail move and he lights up. The only problem is that this dino is so cool you know some kid is just going to steal it and put it in his room for a night light. Oh well. Until that happens, this stegosaurus will look great in your nativity scene with baby Jesus riding the five-foot beast.

Tornado Wrecks This Guy’s Home, but Don’t Worry, His PS4 Is Fine

This past weekend, the U.S. Midwest was struck by some really nasty tornadoes. As tornadoes will do, they caused some very bad destruction in the areas and some even lost their lives. Tornadoes are pretty scary and they can destroy everything you have in just seconds.

As usual, in the aftermath, you could see people digging through the rubble that used to be their homes in an effort to salvage whatever they can. Sometimes that isn’t much and it is pretty heartbreaking. But if you just bought a PS4 and at least that survived? Well, that would at least be a bright ray of sunshine in an otherwise terrible outcome. At least you have something.

That’s what happened to this gamer. The house is gone, but his PS4 survived intact in its box. Yeah, things still suck, but that’s got to help you feel a little better.

Now all he needs to do is hope it doesn’t have the blue pulse of death when he fires it up.

Halloween Pumpkin Defines 21st Century Horror

Most Halloween pumpkin carvings nowadays don’t even try to spook people anymore, instead presenting geeky or pop culture references. Then again, it’s not like the default jack-o’-lantern’s face is scary anyway.

Comedienne Megan MacKay knows how to spook today’s trick or treaters:

LEGO Mecha Charizard: Poké Kaiju

I’m not sure if Flickr member Zane_Houston intended to make a reference to Mechagodzilla, but that bad dude immediately came to mind when I saw Zane’s LEGO Mecha Charizard. Mega Evolution? Pfff. I think Mecha Evolution would be way better.

Anatomical Barbie: Little Girls, Look Away.

Artist Jason Freeny returns with his latest anatomical model – this one ruining childhoods for countless little girls. This model of Barbie has been splayed open so we can see all of her guts.

Given the fact that Barbie’s proportions are inhuman, I’m surprised he was able to cram all of her internal organs and skeletal structure inside her oddly-scaled body.

If you’d like to hang this freaky image on your wall, you can grab a print of it over at Jason’s shop.

Crayon Bandolier for Kids: Dress Like Craybacca

So it might not be the best idea to make your little kids watch Rambo, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to dress like a commando. With the Crayon Bandolier, your youngun will be a young gun, toting around their colorful ammo.

Instead of bullets, this bandolier holds up to 24 crayons – for making art, not war. Perfect for members of the Crayola cartel, the Crayon Bandolier sells for $24.99(USD) over at ThinkGeek – including 24 crayons, including that oh so useful white one.

Banana iPhone Case: This Sh*t is Bananas

I’ve definitely seen some weird and impractical iPhone cases over the years, so why would I think this trend would ever end. For instance, did you know that if you’re in Japan, you can now dress up your iPhone 5 as a banana?

This wacky thing was spotted by Redditor cirethesquire while checking out the shops in Tokyo. Admit it – we’ve all picked up a banana at some point and pretended it was a phone, but this is ridiculous.
