This pixel art quilt was created by Megan “8bit” Healey, and is made from cotton and has a warm fleece backing. It measures 60″ x 78″, so it’s a good size for a twin bed or lounging around on the couch while you wait for Super Mario 3D World to be released.

So punch open some question mark blocks, save up your gold coins and once you have $200 worth, head on over to Etsy and buy this quilt. If Peach isn’t your thing, you can also find Mega Man, Bowser, Tanooki Mario and other fun quilts in her shop.

Picard Quilt: Make it Sew

Every time I went to my grandmother’s house growing up she was always working on a quilt of one sort or another. She offered to make me quilts multiple times but I didn’t care anything for handmade blankets back in the day. If she were still around, I would be calling her right now to make me one of these Jean-Luc Picard quilts.

Apparently, the owner of a quilt making outfit called Candy Coated Quilts and made his particular blankie using two-inch squares of cloth. How exactly she was able to make this pixelated looking photo of Picard with the squares is beyond my pay grade, but it’s awesome.

The quilt was made for a queen-size bed and required 4,500 fabric squares to complete it. It’s even got the Captain’s Starfleet uniform on the backside. Its creator made it as a wedding gift for a couple of friends who happen to be Trekkies. This is easily the best wedding gift ever.

Legend of Zelda Quilt: It’s Dangerous to Nap Alone, Take This!

In all honesty, it’s been a while since I dusted off my original NES copy of The Legend of Zelda, but it’s still one of the all time classic video games, IMHO. But even if you don’t play the game regularly, you could have a daily reminder of Link’s adventures thanks to this awesome Legend of Zelda quilt.

Every time you lie down on the couch to take a nap, you could snuggle up under this hand-pieced quilt by artist Kelly Jaworski. It features a detailed pixel art image of Link, and is surrounded by triangular pieces of fabric, shaped like Triforces.

The small version of the quilt measures about 3.5 x 4.5 ft and sells for $199 (USD), while the queen-size (5.5 x 7.5 ft) version goes for $299. I wonder how many rupees that is.

Geeky Mosaic Blanket: It’s Hip to Be Squares

No matter what kind of geek you are or what you are into, you will find something to love on this awesome knitted blanket. Ravelry member Leilaniac designed it in Excel and then knitted it with Shibui Knits sock yarn.

It has everything that any self respecting geek could want. There are Cylons, Spock’s hand, the TARDIS, squares devoted to cats, dinosaurs, Serenity, the Millenium Falcon proclaiming that Han shot first and more. Oh, and the center square is binary for the name of Leilaniac’s nephew, who she made this blanket for.

This blanket will not only keep you warm, but it will also warm your geek heart.

iPhone Quilt: Too Big for My Pocket, Too Small for My Bed

Apple fanboys and fangirls, looking for something to keep you warm and toasty this winter? Why not go for an iPhone quilt, loaded up with all your your favorite apps?

This detailed “iQuilt” was made by Heidi Hendrix, and actually won two awards at the Maryland State Fair because it’s just that awesome. Each of its 20 home screen apps is intricately appliquéd, and include favorites like Angry Birds, Skype, Pandora and Facebook. She was also kind enough to leave the iOS6 Apple Maps app off, so you don’t have to be reminded of that while you curl up underneath it. And yes, we see that the home button isn’t round, but we’ll forgive Heidi.

The quilt measures 61″ x 86″, making it big enough to use on a twin-sized bed with a good amount of overhang on the edges. But if your bed is too big for it, you could always use it to cover up and keep warm while chilling on the couch. The iQuilt can be yours for $375(USD) over on Etsy. Sure, that’s more expensive than a 32GB iPhone 5, but at least you won’t have to worry about a 2-year contract with this one.

This Absurd Mouse Pad Is a Snuggie For Your Wrist

The land of the rising sun has again brought us an ingenious product that we didn’t realize we needed because, well, we probably don’t need it. Unless your wrists get cold while you’re typing. It’s a USB-powered mousepad that includes a blanket of sorts to go over your hand. It’s a take on traditional Japanese futon bedding, which normally includes a heated quilt. In the mouse pad version, the heated quilt goes over your hand and forearm, warming them to 122 degrees. They cost 1980 yen each, which is about $25. Not bad for a novelty that you’ll only probably use once.
