R2-D2 Talking Pizza Cutter

You can say that R2-D2 is the one major Star Wars character who does not have the emotion of a human, and neither does it have the power to manipulate the Force, but it has done more than its fair share in order to make sure the good guys always win, before the Emperor ascended his throne and ruled the galaxy with fear, and after that as he helped out the Rebel Alliance. Well, if there is another thing that R2-D2 might help you in your home would be this – to be able to ensure no fights break out among the family as it goes about its business, cutting your pizza perfectly. After all, how can anyone have anything against the $19.99 R2-D2 Talking Pizza Cutter?

The R2-D2 Talking Pizza Cutter will naturally come with its fair share of sound effects, which means it runs on some sort of power source. Of course, since there are no X-Wings in existence just yet, don’t bet on a mini-sized nuclear reactor powering the R2-D2 Talking Pizza Cutter, but rather, it would go around its business thanks to a trio of LR41 cell batteries that were included right out of the box to get you started there and then. For those who are a fan of pizza as well as Star Wars, this is definitely the droid you’re looking for!

Official Star Wars iPhone 5 Cases: Episode II

PowerA’s officially licensed Star Wars iPhone 4/4S cases must have been a blockbuster, because this year the company is striking back with iPhone 5 variants of the cases.

All previous designs remain unchanged. You can still join the Dark Side of iPhone cases with the Darth Vader case, give your phone a shiny metal ass with the C-3PO case, turn your iPhone into a Droid with the R2-D2 case and have a huggable device with the Chewbacca case.

You can order the cases from Firebox for £20 (~$31 USD) or directly from PowerA for $35. Yes, that means the Chewie case is the best deal,  what with all that awesome fur.

Whoever Wears This R2-D2 Bra Won’t Enjoy the Interactive Features

If you’ve been looking for a DIY project that combines your love of Star Wars with your ignorance of fashion trends, why not turn some papier-mâché and a hacked R2-D2 toy into a light-up brassiere complete with artoo sound effects? The hardest part of the build, as demonstrated by the mannequin in this video, is finding someone who’s actually willing to wear it and fend off Star Wars fans wanting to give it a try. R2-D2 Bra Lights up, Makes Sounds: Bleep Bloop Boob

Last month we saw a pair of custom R2-D2 heels that used components from a toy Artoo to light up and make sounds. Instructables member Seamster used the same tactic but instead of making a shoe, he made a bra that some of you might have been looking for.

Seamster made two pairs of ‘bot bras, one dubbed the “R2-DD2″. The first one uses duct tape for the dome and is relatively easy to make, while the one pictured here has a dome made of papier-mâché and wood fillings. It’s harder to make but as you can see the end result is really cool. Though it doesn’t look very comfortable.

Head to Seamster’s Instructables page to find out how to make one of these awesome bras. C-3PO must be so jealous of Artoo.

Star Wars Collectors Watches: It’s Time to Use the Force

There have been numerous collectible Star Wars watches over the years, and the latest batch has just found its way across the universe from a galaxy far, far, away. Or at least from the UK.

These new analog watches are made by Zeon and officially-licensed by LucasFilm. The collection include five cool designs whether you’re rooting for the Light or Dark Side of the Force. The line includes a Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, and of course, Darth Vader. As usual, R2-D2 is all alone, and C-3PO is nowhere to be found in the collection. Each watch has a leather band, is water-resistant to 5ATM and comes individually numbered with a velvet-lined box and numbered collector’s certificate.

Naturally, the Darth Vader one is the coolest, with its black case, red face crystal and red accents. It’s also neat that the Skywalker one has a compass built in. Though I’m not sure that would actually to navigate through the Death Star’s trenches.

You can currently find Zeon’s Star Wars watches over at UK shop Great Gear Store for £125 (~$187 USD) each, and they should be making their way to more retailers soon.

C-3PO Dress: Be a Droid out on the Town

There are a number of Star Wars-themed outfits out there that look pretty good – but most of them are clearly for cosplay. But you could probably wear this Star Wars dress out to a club or bar, which is one of the reasons why I think it works really well.

The C-3PO-inspired dress looks darn good, and even though C-3PO has been underrepresented in fashion, this dress makes looking like a protocol droid quite fashionable. I can already see these working not just at Halloween parties, but in everyday life, which is a bonus. Who wouldn’t want to dress up as a Star Wars character every day that they could?

The Gold Metal Man Dress is available from GeekyU’s Etsy store for $199.99(USD). If that’s not for you, then they’ve got other apparel that you might be interested in, including the slightly more obvious Artuito Dress shown in the first picture above.

R2-D2 Heels: The Droid Shoes That You’re Looking for

They don’t look stable, but I’m sure some Star Wars fan out there would risk falling over just for the chance to wear these one of a kind pair of shoes made by Mike Warren, a Play Editor  at Instructables. As you can see, not only do they have Artoo’s uh, face, at the toe, they also use R2-D2 toys as their heels.

As you can see in the picture above the shoes each have a blinking LED on the toe area. The heels also retain their toy features, i.e. they can also light up as well as make Artoo sounds.

DIY R2-D2 Heels Are Perfect For Your Next Black Tie-Fighter Event

FJ5V51BHAQ2V49D.MEDIUM

Fans of Star Wars can take their love of droids and kitten heels to the streets with this DIY Instructables project. Created by Mike Warren, an editor at the site, these are the droid shoes you’re looking for.

DIYers take note: this isn’t easy stuff. Note the tools list, for example:

MIG welder
soldering iron
propane torch
rotary tool
elecric drill
rubber cement
foam glue
2-part epoxy (extra strength – not “quick setting”)
white spray paint

Seriously. A MIG welder. For shoes.

You’ll also need a pair of shoes, some R2-D2 toys, and a little thinger that will light up like R2′s weird eye thinger. More important, the shoes Warren used came from outside his house because someone threw them away. In short, they were almost free!

So whether you’re trying to please your own Princess Leia or need to stab one of Jabba’s Daleks with your stiletto, now you have the perfect tool.

R2-D2 and Walking Dead Surfboards Look Gnarly, Dude

What are geeks taking to the beach this year? I have no idea, because it’s freezing cold where I am. But surfer geeks should be checking out these fun Walking Dead and R2-D2 surfboards. They’ll let you catch a wave while you fly your geek flag proudly.

I think the R2-D2 design is the best -acting as a surfboard is just one more facet of this versatile maintenance droid we weren’t aware of until now. On the other hand, I feel like the Walking Dead board would attract sharks. Zombie sharks.

These were first spotted by Katie Graef at the 2013 Surf Expo in Florida, where I’m sure they were a huge hit.

Both of these were airbrushed by Josh DelRocco of Ricky Carroll Surfboards. They do good work. If I surfed, I would buy something like this in a heartbeat.

Hacked R2-D2 Toy Now Almost Rivals Skywalker’s On-Screen Companion

Securing his position as possibly one of the best boyfriends ever, a Chinese Star Wars fan hacked a broken R2-D2 toy for his girlfriend’s birthday, turning it into an autonomous companion that’s almost as awesome as the version seen in the movies. More »
