From the new to the hard to find, when it’s on your mind, it’s on eBay

We are fast approaching the “decision” moment for the holiday purchases, and while you still have time, why not start wrapping your head around those cool gadgets, many of which came out just recently. While previous guides were specific to laptops or smartphones, this one is more generic and include cameras, tablets and audio accessories. We look at a lot of devices, and we’ve compiled a list with some of our favorites – we can’t put all of them in there, but at the end of the day, we all have choices to make :) (more…)

RAZR HD Review + RAZR Maxx HD Review

Motorola RAZR HD Review RAZR Maxx HD ReviewThe introduction of the new Droid RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD represent Motorola’s first entry in the high-end smartphone market since it was acquired by Google. With a new management in place and a clear strategy oriented around “speed, battery life and the best of Android”, Motorola wants to re-affirm that it too can make great Android phones.

In fact, it would be bizarre if a Google company wasn’t able to build great Android phones… In any case, those two smartphones are designed to represent the above commitment from Motorola, which has chosen a “racing” design in reference to the idea of high-performance.

The battery life is probably the most important point here. With a 3300mAh battery (2X the iPhone 5 capacity), the Motorola RAZR Maxx HD is the king of the hill when it comes to battery capacity. There are only two ways of improving battery life: use less and have more. Motorola has decided to go for both.

So, it looks great on paper, but how are those smartphones in the real world? We have used them for more than a week, so it’s time to find out.

Verizon confirms RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD available October 18th, caps lock comes free

When Verizon said the RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD would be out before the holidays, it wasn’t kidding. October the 18th is the big day if you’re after some of the sharp-sounding Motorola action. The 8-megapixel, NFC-enabled RAZR HD , if you recall, sports a 4.7-inch 720p display, running ICS (Jelly Bean update in the works) on that dual-core S4 chip. If you cast your memory back once more, you’ll remember that the RAZR MAXX HD has the same sized screen, but the real killer feature is that 3,300 mAh battery. The RAZR HD will set you back $200, in either black or white with 16GB storage, the MAXX, however will run you an extra $100, and has double the storage. So, which one gets your money?

Motorola Droid RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD reportedly delayed due to antenna issues

If you were planning to get your hands on Motorola’s new smartphones, the Droid RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD, well you might be disappointed. According to reports, unofficial of course, it seems that both the RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD will be delayed from launching on Verizon’s network due to some issues with the antenna. This is apparently due to the both the size and location of the antennas which actually make contact with the edges of the device which means that the signal will degrade whenever the user touches it.

This is based on FCC documents of the Droid RAZR HD which show that its internals are different compared to that of the Droid RAZR M which has made it onto Verizon’s network with no issue. Word has it that Motorola is currently working on a solution and they’re still hoping to make their holiday release schedule, but if you were hoping to get it on/before Thanksgiving or Black Friday, you’d be out of luck. If either the Droid RAZR HD or the RAZR MAXX HD is the phone you’ve been eyeing, be sure to check back with us as we’ll keep you updated on the situation.

Motorola's rebate site goes live: $100 credit if you need to upgrade to get Jelly Bean

During Motorola’s keynote on Wednesday, the company announced a nice little bonus for loyal fans — should your 2011-or-later handset not receive a Jelly Bean update, you’ll get $100 if you upgrade to one of its new models. Well, a website for the deal has gone live and the initial Ts&Cs don’t make it sound like an immediate discount, but that the Benjamin will instead be reimbursed as a gift card, carrier credit or a cash equivalent of Motorola’s choice. We’re still in the dark about which specific phones will be denied a taste of Android 4.1, although the list is expected “very soon.” In the meantime, you can sign up at the source link below to receive details of how to update, or how to claim the rebate once the fate of your old handset has been decided.
