Spaceman VFO Hand Sensor Electric RC Helicopter UFO

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nah, it is neither, but rather, chances are your neighbors and kids in the vicinity would be looking at the $14.95 Spaceman VFO Hand Sensor Electric RC Helicopter UFO. I am not quite sure just how true the claim of this being “the most advanced RC toy ever” is, but basically, it will be able to float around in a stationary manner just like that of a UFO as depicted in popular culture.

Well, the Spaceman VFO Hand Sensor Electric RC Helicopter UFO does not need you to have any kind of piloting credentials, as all you need to control it around would be the up and down movement with the IR transmitter. Of course, as its name suggests, you too, will be able to erly on the palm of your hand to control it, where placing your hand under the hovering helicopter in ‘sense mode’ will see some kind of modern day magic at work.

If you are feeling rather adventurous, then just turn off the lights when dusk falls, and you will be treated to a light show. Those who do not know that you own the Spaceman VFO Hand Sensor Electric RC Helicopter UFO might actually call the cops and say make a report of a UFO being in the neighborhood! It runs not on an alien energy source, but rather, will rely on old school AA batteries to keep it going.

LEGO R/C A-Team Van: I Pity the Fool Who Doesn’t Have This

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The A-Team. If you can’t hire them, at least you could build your own A-Team LEGO R/C van.

LEGO ATeam van
This A-Team RC LEGO Van was made by Vimal Patel, a LEGO building maniac from New Zealand, who has created numerous other LEGO masterpieces in the past. This van is built entirely from LEGO bricks. Everything except for the battery, the circuitry and the IR sensor, that is. Check out out in action in the video clip below:

SilverLit Mercedes-Benz iOS controlled RC Car Hands-on

We know the holiday shopping spree has already ended and Christmas is long gone, but a neat new toy is being shown off here at CES from the folks at SilverLit. What we have here is an awesome RC Car that is controlled by your iOS device of choice, but that isn’t all it does. The RC car has speakers, moving doors, actual headlights and more that all work seamlessly with your iPhone or iPad. Listen to music, or annoy your co-workers with this gadget.

While we’ve seen RC cars and other devices controlled by our favorite smartphones before, SilverLit added a few nice features that makes their Mercedes-Benz quite fun. The device is actually meant to be an awesome replica Mercedes-Benz for your office desk or garage. It then doubles as an RC car. It doesn’t just drive around endlessly searching for a garage however, it has other functions.

We first mentioned this a few weeks ago, and now we have the details. Instead of sitting on a desk, you can use this to secretly annoy and surprise co-workers and office mates. The built-in speakers actually jam out and plays your devices iTunes library. Once paired with the SilverLit app you’ll be able to play your own music playlist. Here’s a quick video of it in action although you might not be able to hear the music.

The Mercedes-Benz by SilverLit has integrated speakers that will blast your favorite tunes right from your iPad or iPhone 5 iTunes library. While this isn’t ideal for average users (as we don’t fit in the car) kids can enjoy it, as well as those wanting to have a little fun at the office. Then you’ll be able to make the SilverLit dance. Yes we said dance. The car lights flash to the beat, and the doors will open and close too. It’s actually quite fun and more than just your average RC car. So far pricing hasn’t been finalized by SilverLit, but it will be available this spring.

Flying Superman: Best R/C Plane Ever?

Look up in the sky! It’s a bird… It’s a plane… It’s the geekiest R/C plane ever! You will believe a man can fly. This awesome Superman R/C plane makes if feel like Metropolis and makes observers do a double-take, wherever it flies.

superman rcAre they filming the new Superman movie with super cheap effects? Nah. Apparently a couple of guys were biking down the Pacific Coast Highway when all the sudden they see Superman fly by. WTF? Well, after some investigation, they caught up with the owner and shot some footage so that we all can see the awesomeness of this R/C plane.

Presumably, it’s one of these, just painted and caped up to look like the Man of Steel. I wish I had one, but I would just crash it on the first flight.

Brave Robotics Transforming Robot Car Rolls out

Remember the toy car that transforms into a robot? The inventor Kenji Ishida is playing Santa to those of you who wished you could buy one. He’s selling 10 units of the latest version of his robot, which has a couple of new tricks up its robot sleeves.

In addition to being remote controlled and transformable, the 1:12 scale robot can now fire plastic projectiles from its arms and has a camera that can send live footage over a Wi-Fi connection.

You can order the robot from Ishida’s company Brave Robotics (his site is currently experiencing heavy traffic). The price isn’t listed, but you can bet it’ll be expensive. The robot will come fully assembled and programmed along with a wireless controller, four rechargeable batteries, a battery charger, a “motion edit software” and a serial cable. If you think you won’t be able to afford this model, keep saving: Ishida plans to release a life-sized robot car by 2030.

BERO ‘Bot: The Customizeable Smartphone-Controlled Robot

Hackable toys are nothing new, but there’s something appealing about pulling a ‘bot out of your pocket and remote-controlling it from your smartphone. I’m sure that some of the flying mini drones would also fit the bill, but the BERO (Be The Robot) looks pretty cool too.

The BERO ‘bot is a 4″ tall robot that can be controlled via your smartphone, to which it will pair using Bluetooth. The app that will control the ‘bot will be open-source, so you will probably end up being able to do all sorts of crazy things with your diminutive robot. It comes with a multi-motor, microchip, on-board flash memory, speakers, and an SD card slot. There’s a higher end model that has some pretty flashy designs and will be able to perform more movements, as well as having LED lights that can light up to the beat of music.

The BERO ‘bot was launched on Kickstarter, and at the time of writing, it had amassed a total of $18,000 out of a goal of $38,900 with 30 days of funding left. It will almost certainly be made if it stays on its current pace. You’ll have to pledge $79 for the BERO Bluetooth edition, but the more sophisticated versions range from $109 to $189, depending on the design.

Batwing R/C Plane: The Dark Flight Rises

R/C toys are fun. Whether it’s driving, flying or navigating the the waterways, it’s all good. It’s even cooler if you are capable of customizing your R/C craft. R/C hobbyist Chris Allen knows a thing or two about that, having built this awesome 70MM EDF JET powered Batwing from scratch.

rc batwing toy
It not only looks awesome, it also really flies and flies fast too while flipping around in the air. Chris has been building and designing R/C planes for the past 10 years and right now he is into scratch-building anything to do with Batman. My kind of builder.

Now he just needs to build a Joker plane and take the fight to the skies for the ultimate flying duel. Make sure you watch the videos. This thing is amazing in flight. I’m sure would have your Batman action figure pulling massive Gs in the cockpit.

Remote-Controlled S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier Assembled

In Soviet Russia, you carry the Helicarrier. But that’s all right, because just like the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s flying fortress, this small remote-controlled replica made by a Russian RC enthusiast can also float and take to the sky.

The replica was made by RC Design forum member native18, the same guy who made the DeLorean quadrotor. Strangely enough, native18 also pointed out a very similar toy that was shown off at an RC airplane show way last February, except this one is literally an (RC) aircraft carrier:

Here’s native18′s Helicarrier in action:

Brush up on your Russian (or use Google Translate) and head to native18′s thread on RC Design for more details and images. Combine this with this and you have a winner.

Starship Enterprise RC Plane: Boldly Go Zip Around the Park

Here’s your chance to be the Picard, Kirk or Janeway of your own USS Enterprise. It’s not a high tech starship, just a small remote-controlled plane, but let’s face it: if you suddenly found yourself on the NCC-1701-D, you and everyone in your crew might as well be wearing red shirts.

star trek starship enterprise rc plane

The plane was designed by RC enthusiast Dennis aka SGTalon. It’s made from foam and a glued-on skin. Dennis sells kits with all the ship’s parts and skin, but you’ll have to supply the other parts such as the rods and motor, and of course put them all together. The video below is a review of the kit courtesy of YouTuber joehandsome99. You can skip to about 3:05 to see it fly:

You can order the USS Enterprise RC kit from SGTalon for $22-$87 (USD). Not a Trekkie? Dennis also sells Cylon Raider and Imperial Destroyer kits.
