Toshiba Regza AT374/28K Is Japan Version Of Excite 7

Toshiba Regza AT374/28K Is Japan Version Of Excite 7Earlier this morning, we brought you word that Toshiba has unleashed their latest 7” Android-powered tablet which comes in the form of the Toshiba Excite 7, where it will sell under that moniker in the US of A. Well, what about the rest of the world, especially when we are talking about the home country of Toshiba itself, Japan? Fret not, folks who live in the Land of the Rising Sun and are on the lookout for a budget oriented tablet – Toshiba also has got your back covered except that this time around it will be the Excite 7’ s equivalent, being known as the Toshiba Regza AT374/28K instead in that part of the world. No prizes for agreeing just which particular model number is easier to spell out!

The Toshiba Regza AT374/28K will come with a rather fast Rockchip RK3188 quad-core processor underneath the hood, where it is accompanied by 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The 7” display is nothing much to shout about, however, where it sports a 1,024 x 600 resolution count, a 3-megapixel shooter at the back with a VGA camera in front, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. Your ears will be treated to stereo speakers and SRS audio, while connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I’d get the US version which retails for $170, since after conversion in Japan, it would cost approximately $300.

    Toshiba “TimeOn” REGZA Cloud Service

Toshiba “TimeOn REGZA Cloud Service[CEATEC 2013] Toshiba has ventured into interesting territory with their “TimeOn” REGZA cloud service which will definitely affect the way you watch TV from now on. I guess this is the next step from where DVRs have brought the TV viewing experience to the next level. Basically, the “TimeOn” cloud service will be able to offer different services for cloud-based TVs by hooking up viewers with the relevant content, while making the entire experience a more interactive one.

For instance, you are able to search for keywords such as a particular actor, and the TimeOn service will look through its list of metadata tags and pull out all programs that have the relevant keyword, so that you can watch those snippets – right down to the exact second, of that particular actor or celebrity. This basically allows one to enjoy interesting programs whenever they wish, and with so many channels being made available to the consumer these days, zeroing in on what you want to watch will go a great deal in saving you time and effort.

In addition, there will also be a Twitter feed that carries that particular channel’s hashtag shown on the right hand side of the screen, where you are able to check out what other folks are saying about that particular program. In a nutshell, you can also add in your own two cents’ worth, and see whether others agree with you or not. When asked, the folks at Toshiba said that the content of the Twitter feed are bound to Twitter’s terms and conditions, which means no censorship will be done on Toshiba’s part for the content, and there are no parental controls, so hopefully no one posts anything distasteful or offensive when your little ones are watching their favorite anime!

Toshiba - "REGZA Z8X" series - 4K and Japanese next-generation TV platform "Hybridcast" compliant LCD TV

From Toshiba’s LCD TV “REGZA” lineup, the new 4K compliant “REGZA Z8X” series will be out in late June. There will be 3 sizes available: 84 inch, 65 inch, and 58 inch.

Newly developed original image processor “REGZA CEVO 4K” and “high-resolution large 4K panel” deliver a beautiful image quality.

“REGZA Z8X” has a strong point concerning its recording functionality. With its “Time Shift Machine” function, you can record a maximum of 6 channels for about 80 hours and watch it later. To use “Time Shift Machine”, you need to buy the Time Shift Machine compliant USB hard disk “THD-450T1″ separately. In conjunction with this is the “Zanmai Play” function which will pick out programs that the user seems the most interested in out of all the recorded programs. Record everything, and based on previous viewing patterns, Zanmai Play will recommend programs to match your interests, popular programs and programs related to hot topics.

Also, for the first time in the industry, “REGZA Z8X” is compatible with the Japanese next-generation TV platform “Hybridcast” that NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories has been developing.

Toshiba’s REGZA AT501 comes with Android 4.1, vague sense of unfulfillment

Toshibas REGZA AT501 comes with Android 41, vague sense of unfulfillment

Dear Uncle Toshiba. Thank you so much for announcing this REGZA Tablet AT501, the followup to the AT500. We noticed that you’d thrown in a 10.1-inch, 1,280 x 800 IPS display alongside a 1.3GHz Tegra 3 system and 1GB of RAM, which is very nice. We also like the feature that lets it act as a companion to compatible REGZA TVs. It was a bit sad, however, to see that it only came with a 3-megapixel rear facing camera. On the upside, you did manage to install Android 4.1, Splashtop and a battery that’s rated for 10 hours — which is probably why it weighs 625 grams. Unfortunately, you priced it at 40,000 yen ($425), more than a Nexus 10 — so if you don’t mind, can we keep the receipt?

Toshiba Excite 10SE / AT300SE gets caught visiting the FCC, may tout Jelly Bean

Toshiba Excite 10SE AT300SE possibly sighted at the FCC, may tout Jelly Bean

If you’re Toshiba, what do you do when you’re looking to goose interest in the Excite 10 tablet? Roll out a quick follow up, of course. Accordingly, the FCC has just recently cleared a refreshed tablet, the AT300SE, that the Bluetooth SIG suggests will be called the Excite 10SE in North America. As shown, it’s a European-spec WiFi model that gives away little by itself. It’s when we combine this with the Bluetooth listing and speed tests that a clearer picture of the upgrade emerges — there’s been an AT300SE in GLBenchmark’s performance charts that we’ve seen running Jelly Bean (unavailable to current Excites) on top of what looks to be the familiar 1,280 x 800 display and 1.3GHz Tegra 3. While there may be other surprises lurking in areas the tests can’t reach, the documents point to a quick nip-and-tuck from Toshiba to keep tablet sales afloat rather than a full overhaul.

Toshiba pushes 4K REGZA HDTVs at CEATEC 2012

At Japan’s biggest technology trade show Toshiba was demonstrating 4K REGZA televisions with a maximum size of 84″. The company was showing content shot in 4K, but also content that was up-scaled (magnified) from a regular 1080p source and believe me, the demo looked absolutely stunning. Obviously, the footage used during such trade shows is carefully selected and tuned to feature eye-popping colors and contrasts but in the grand scheme of things, it is clear that 4K is much more compelling that stereo-3D will ever be, especially for TVs that are 55″ and more. Toshiba Regza J7 and Z7 TVs pack builtin DVR with recommendation feature, we go handson video

Toshiba had its new lineup of Regza HDTVs on hand at CEATEC today, showing sets from both the J7 Series and Z7 series. The J7 Series offers 32-, 40, 50- and 65-inch options, all of which boast 1080p resolutions save for the 32-incher. Pricing starts at ¥75,000 (about $961) and tops off at ¥370,000 for the largest model. The slightly higher-end Z7 Series includes 42-, 47- and 55-inch models, with pricing ranging from ¥180,000 to ¥370,000. The Z7 Series also boats Toshiba’s “time-shift machine” feature, which automatically records up to 40 hours of content on primary channels and suggests programs based on your viewing habits.

We spent a few minutes staring into the high-def abyss at the company’s rather dim booth, and all of the displays looked quite stunning. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to test out the time-shift feature, so we’ll have to take the company on its word there. The premium Z7 models include a thinner bezel and an overall sleeker look, while the J7 featured a more rounded design, with a beefier border around the panel. All of the TVs are expected to debut in time for the holiday season. For now, you can get a sneak peek from our hands-on video below.

Toshiba’s Regza SD-P100WP does TV, DVDs and doesn’t mind a bit of water

Toshibas Regza SDP100WP does TV, DVDs and doesnt mind a bit of water

Other manufacturers may be jumping off DVD bandwagon, but Toshiba’s still got some love for the format — not to mention the waning days of summer. The Regza SD-P100WP is more than just a portable DVD player, of course — for one thing, the gadget’s got a 1024 x 600 display, for watching your stories on the go. There’s also a built-in TV tuner and wireless LAN, so you can watch content recorded on network-connected Toshiba TVs and Blu-Ray players. Oh, and then there’s the IPX7-level waterproofing, for when you absolutely need to catch up on old seasons of Breaking Bad on the beach. The SD-P100WP has an SD slot for playing music, looking at pictures and the like, and should give you about eight hours of DVD-watching on a charge.
