LEGO Titanfall Weapon Replicas: Anti-Minifig Guns

Flickr member, LEGO enthusiast and Bionicle pilot Nick Brick made life-size scale models of some of the weapons in the hit FPS Titanfall. Nick made the EVA-8 Shotgun, the Smart Pistol MK5 and the R-101C Carbine.

Nick’s replicas may not be exactly the same as their virtual counterparts – Nick made the pistol and the rifle months before Titanfall came out – but they still look awesome and even have a few moving or detachable parts.

Adventure Time Grass Sword Replica: I’m Cool with That

If you watch Adventure Time, you know that Finn the Human has a cool sword made of grass. When he got it, he could not get it off his arm. The grass just wrapped itself around his hand. It was a trap set by the Grassy Wizard. Here is a real life prop of the sword that looks just as cool.

It may have been a trap, but it was a real kick butt sword, so Finn just said, “You know what? I think I’m cool with that.” Sometimes when you have a totally awesome sword, you just have to accept its quirks.

This acrylic and plastic replica comes from Etsy seller ThePropShop for just $65(USD). The question is, will you be able to put it down after you get it?

Guy Build Space Shuttle on His Roof

What do you do when you just want to get off of this big blue marble we call Earth? Well, you can call NASA and try to hitch a ride to the International Space Station. Or you could build yourself a replica of the Space Shuttle on your roof. One man in China did the latter.

According to Chinese site Xinhuanet, a 60-something year-old farmer in Guangdong province built this space shuttle replica. Naturally he put it on top of his house. I guess the idea is that if he ever takes off, that house will burn up and erase all traces that he was ever here. Good plan.

This replica makes the house stand out for sure. I wonder if the neighbors love it or hate it. I’m sure it does wonders for his property value.

Star Trek Captain Picard Jacket Replica: The Previous Generation

An imaginary thinking cap? Pfff. The next time you’re in a quandary, put on this replica of Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s jacket and let the cerebral hero of Star Trek: The Next Generation be your spirit animal. As soon as you put it on you’ll have at least one profound thought: “Really Captain? Suede?”

The officially-licensed replica is being made by Anovos, who got their hands on one of the jackets worn by Patrick Stewart in the last two seasons of the show. The company claims that the replica’s color, pattern and fabric closely match the TV show costume.

Damn. That’s a 90s show all right.

As of this writing you can pre-order the jacket from Anovos for $250 (USD). Only 100 jackets will be made, with the final 40 jackets going for $300. At those prices you’d think the turtleneck and comm badge would be included.

Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade Replica needs mad skills to make it realistic

assasins_creed_hidden_blade_replicaVideo games are definitely fun to play, and from time to time, you might even wish that you could end up in the shoes of the game’s protagonist, wielding all the power as well as magic (in some titles) as you go about saving the world. For those who love the Assassin’s Creed storyline, there is nothing quite like working stealthily behind the scenes, and there is one particular signature weapon of the heroic Assassins – the deadly hidden blade. The next time you decide to cosplay Assassin’s Creed, you might want to make sure that you have the $39.99 Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade Replica as part of your costume’s repertoire.

This signature weapon that has dealt death to many in the game looks like the real deal, until you realize that the “metal” is not actually metal upon touch. How does it work to extend its brand of realism to the world? A hairpin trigger gets the job done, and it is also good news that the Assassin’s Creed Hidden Blade Replica comes with a safety so that it will also prevent accidental instances of setting it off.

The Avengers Tesseract Case Replica Doubles as Media Player: Infinite Amusement

Dustin Evans’ Tesseract case replica may not have the power to destroy worlds or foretell the future, but it can open portals to other realms. Aside from a glowing cube, the case also has a 7″ LCD monitor and a Raspberry Pi running the popular media player XBMC through Raspbian.

Dustin also wrote an Android app to control the LEDs on the case. He also uses his Android phone to send video to the case with the help of AllCast. Dustin also added audio and video outputs to the replica. You’ll see him connect it to a projector in the video below.

Dad Builds Kids a Batpod Replica

One of the coolest things about Batman is all his gadgets. I particularly like the gadgets that he had to play with in the Dark Knight trilogy like the Batpod and Tumbler. Inspired by the Bat’s wonderful toys, a dad made a really cool Batpod for his kids.

bstpodmagnify

But unlike the bike in the movies, this Batpod is sized for the man’s 10 and 12-year-old boys to enjoy. The bike uses an Alltrax AXE 4844 controller running a Mars ME0709 electric motor, and the Batpod is powered by a quartet of lead-acid batteries from a car. I think I would worry about those lead-acid batteries in a vehicle that is destined to spend lots of time tossed on its side. The power system has a maximum of 50 volts and the bike can hit speeds of 37mph.

Check out the videos to see the bike in action along with some kids that aren’t big on safety gear other than a helmet.

Temporal Schism Keyblade: Doctor Sora

This Doctor Who/Kingdom Hearts mashup is pretty great. What is it? It is an amazing Temporal Schism Keyblade of course. One that was handmade by deviantArtist SoulessStranger. No soul. Nah. Anyone who made this piece has to have a very amazing one. (Though she is missing an “L“.)

She made it as a custom order and it was made out of layered plywood, carved by hand with chisels and a Dremel. The windows were done with matchsticks and some resin. The handle and key/crown are done in silver and brass spray paint, the rest of it is hand-painted.

Fan Gives Himself PlayStation Platinum Trophy Replica: I’d Like to Thank Myself…

Avid PlayStation gamer Blackangel887462 loves to collect Platinum trophies, a virtual achievement awarded for obtaining all of the lower tier – Bronze, Silver and Gold trophies – achievements in a PlayStation game. To celebrate his 500th Platinum trophy he commissioned a replica of the award.

Even though it’s not made of platinum, the trophy still cost Blackangel887462 quite a bit of change. He won’t say the exact amount, only that the trophy turned out to be more expensive than four DualShock 4 controllers, which more or less adds up to $240 (USD).

The LEGO Movie Poster in LEGO Needs its Own Poster

ToroLUG member DarthNick made this awesome diorama to promote The LEGO Movie. It’s a diorama that includes a replica of the stylized typography of the movie’s title, as seen in one of its posters. DarthNick says that the diorama is currently on display at a movie theater, after which it will be shown off at a LEGO store.

He says the build stressed him out because he was pressed for time and the weight of the title blocks caused him a lot of trouble. In fact, DarthNick admits that he put out the diorama with the crane still tilted. It’s still an awesome piece though!

LEGO should make a limited edition playset of this build. Check out DarthNick’s Flickr page for a high resolution image of the diorama, and vote for him on The LEGO Movie Facebook page to be a fan of the week.
