Refurbished Retina iPad Mini Now Available Online

Refurbished Retina iPad Mini Now Available Online

Folks who had been waiting for refurbished Retina iPad mini to be available from the Apple online store can now rejoice. The company has started selling refurbished models of its latest iPad mini. It only sells them through the online store so walking into your nearest Apple Store isn’t going to be necessary. It has taken Apple nearly six months to offer refurbished Retina iPad mini models after the tablet was first released late last year.

The refurbished models are great for customers who want to have a tablet that is as good as new without having to shell out the full retail price. Since Apple provides a one year warranty with these models, just like it does with their new counterparts, customers are covered should something unfortunate happen.

As of now the Wi-Fi only Retina iPad mini models are available through the Apple online store in 16, 32 and 64GB flavors. Cellular models might be added sometime in the future. A refurbished 16GB model costs $339. Its a decent 15 percent saving as the same tablet costs $399 at full retail.

The Retina iPad mini is perfect for customers that want the iPad experience without having to carry a big 10-inch tablet around. It has a 7.9-inch Retina display, Apple’s very own A7 processor with M7 motion coprocessor as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi with MIMO technology. Apple already offers refurbished models of the iPad Air.

iPad Air And Retina iPad Mini Now Available From Staples Retail Stores

Customers have a variety of options on their hands when it comes to purchasing these products. They can either go with Apple’s own retail stores, its online store or through various carriers and retailers. Staples also carries Apple’s products, and while it previously only sold the new tablets through its online store, the retailers brick-and-mortar stores will now carrying the iPad Air as well as the Retina iPad mini.

Customers who wish to trade in their old iPads can get up to $300 from Staples for it as well as 5 percent back in rewards credits. Holiday Shoppers Prefer Tablets As Retina iPad Mini Supply Eases Up

Holiday Shoppers Prefer Tablets As Retina iPad Mini Supply Eases Up

A research note from Brian White, an analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald, reveals that more than 39 percent of online shoppers over the holiday weekend were interested in purchasing a tablet. With nearly $2 billion being spent over the weekend online, customers are bound to have purchased a significant amount of tablets as well apart from a wide variety of other products. Tablets were at the forefront of the consumer electronics segment, with Walmart and Target both revealing that the iPads were the top sellers on Black Friday.

Apple released the Retina iPad mini rather quietly last month amid reports that the supplies were ridiculously tight due to production bottlenecks. The company would have worked very hard to ensure that there was enough supply to go around the lucrative Black Friday weekend, the analyst found all Wi-Fi models of the first and second generation iPad mini to be readily available. Recently it was reported that major U.S. carriers had the cellular Retina iPad mini models backordered and it appears that supply of those particular models hasn’t eased up as yet, with 64GB and 128GB cellular models being hard to find but 16GB models are available at most of the Apple Retail Stores in the U.S. Analysts expect that Retina iPad mini supply will further improve around Christmas and will ultimately close up the demand supply gap in the first quarter of 2014.

Apple Reportedly Ups Retina iPad Mini Orders To 4 Million In November

Apple Reportedly Ups Retina iPad Mini Orders To 4 Million In November

We have heard and read a lot about Retina iPad mini production problems. The supply has been incredibly tight since launch, even when Apple unveiled the device back in October it didn’t give an exact release date for the tablet. Analysts have been consistently predicting that launch supplies of the Retina iPad mini are tight due to issues with the production of Retina display panels. A new Digitimes report claims that Apple has gradually reduced the bottlenecks in the production process and has increased orders of the Retina iPad mini to four million this month.

Citing, as always, Taiwan based supply chain sources, the report claims that the issues faced in making components for the tablet have gradually been resolved. Sources claim that orders for the Retina iPad mini have already surpassed orders for the first generation iPad mini. Apple unveiled the iPad Air alongside the Retina iPad mini last month, however the former did not face any major supply constraints. According to sources, since its more difficult to manufacture a 7 inch Retina display as opposed to a 9.7 inch one, that’s why there have been so many problems in the production of the Retina iPad mini. On the other hand, iPad Air continues to be in stock and at this point in time there are no rumors of a supply shortage.

Retina iPad Mini First Impressions: That’s More Like It

Retina iPad Mini First Impressions: That's More Like It

The original iPad mini featured a flawless design undermined by an unforgivably subpar display, an antique frame wasted on fingerpaint. Good news. This year’s iPad mini is, after a short time playing with it, picture perfect.

Apple Is ‘Working Hard’ To Meet Retina iPad Mini Demand

Apple Is Working Hard To Meet Retina iPad Mini Demand

Earlier today the online Apple store went down, fuelling speculation that today is the day the company finally releases its hotly anticipated Retina iPad mini. A few hours later the online store came back and indeed the tablet finally became available for purchase. Amid rumors that supplies are going to be very tight throughout the holiday season, Apple said in a press release today that it is “working hard” to get as many Retina iPad mini units it can into the hands of customers.

The Retina iPad mini can be purchased right now through the company’s online store, it will also be available from authorized resellers as well as Apple’s carrier partners who will be selling cellular variants of the tablet. Today’s press release quotes Apple worldwide marketing SVP Phil Schiller saying that the response to the iPad Air has been “incredible,” and so far there have been no rumors of supply constraints for the full fledged iPad. However, even prior to its release, a number of reports were making the rounds, claiming that the Retina iPad mini won’t be able to meet demand at launch. Apple CEO Tim Cook even added fuel to the fire last month by saying that the company didn’t know if it will have enough supply for this particular quarter or not. Analysts believe that Retina iPad mini supplies are expected to improve in the first quarter of 2014, that’s when Samsung presumably starts making display panels for Apple.

LCD Burn-In Reportedly Causing Retina iPad Mini Release Delay

LCD Burn In Reportedly Causing Retina iPad Mini Release Delay

The delay in Retina iPad mini’s release has long been attributed to poor yield rates of the Retina display panels, but a new report coming out of Korea suggests that there’s actually a problem affecting an unknown number of panels Sharp has manufactured that are behind this delay. While Sharp isn’t the primary manufacturer of display panels for the Retina iPad mini, it is believed to manufacture as many as 40 percent of all panels. ETNews claims that the LCD burn-in issue in these display panels is related to the IGZO technology Sharp is using, and while the glitch might not be visible to the naked eye, it reportedly does not meet Apple’s standards so the company can’t proceed with production using the flawed panels.

The report cites an “industry guru” who claims that if Apple doesn’t go ahead with these panels, and it changes suppliers, it would have to delay the launch of the Retina iPad mini. That would presumably mean that the new iPad mini won’t be coming in November. Apple has only said that it intends to release the tablet later this month, it is yet to provide a concrete release date. On the other hand, it has also been rumored to be in talks with Samsung for production of Retina display panels. This particular report reiterates that, adding that the Korean manufacturer might start making panels for Apple early next year.

iPad Air Launch Weekend Sales Might Range Between 2.5 To 3.5 Million

iPad Air Launch Weekend Sales Might Range Between 2.5 To 3.5 Million

On November 1st, Apple finally released the iPad Air. This much awaited tablet was unveiled on October 22nd, it touts upgraded internals and a new design. The tablet actually comes with the most design changes to have been made after the iPad 2 was launched back in 2011, borrowing a lot of design elements from the iPad Mini. The tablet is now available for sale through Apple Retail Stores as well as retailers, launch day sales are expected to range between 2.5 million to 3.5 million, as per famed analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray.

Apple may very well break last year’s record, when it released both the fourth generation iPad and the first generation iPad mini together. Including pre-orders and launch weekend sales, the figure reached 3 million combined. This time around, Apple hasn’t accepted pre-orders for its full-fledged tablet, whereas the second generation iPad mini hasn’t even been released yet. This is actually Apple’s biggest tablet launch to date, offering it initially in 42 countries, including China. Last year, the two new tablets were initially launched in just 27 countries. So it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the iPad Air overtakes last year’s launch weekend record. Apple is expected to reveal the official weekend sales figures on Monday, though it might keep quiet, seeing as how there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Retina iPad mini’s release.
