LEGO Mold Retires After Making 120 Million Bricks, is Very Tired

If you have ever wondered how LEGO bricks are made, they are made using injection molds like this one seen here. This one produced one hundred and twenty million bricks before it was retired.

Think about it. This LEGO mold probably made some of the bricks that you played with as a kid(Or an adult), which gave you hours of joy. I think it has earned a nice retirement that has nothing to do with making bricks. I say let it relax in a LEGO hut on an island somewhere. A hut that is made by bricks made by other molds.

I’m sure geeks would pay a lot of money for this piece of LEGO history.

Canon shutters the EOS 5D Mark II, makes Mark III man of the house

Given the advent of the EOS 5D Mark III, it’s hardly a surprise to see that the Mark II has been quietly moved to Canon’s retired list. The full-frame DSLR was famous for its HD video prowess and was quickly adopted by Hollywood, where it was used to film an entire episode of House back in 2010. While the spirit of the 5D lives on in the latest revision, the old dog most definitely deserves a toast ’round the fire.

Google retires more services, consolidates others in continued efficiency bid

When you run as many services as Google does, every once in a while you’re going to have to do some pruning. Evidently Mountain View’s got the secateurs out, having just announced the next batch of its projects that will be ~~getting axed~~ wound down. For the chop are: AdSense for Feeds, Classic Plus, Spreadsheet Gadgets, Places for Android, and +1 Reports in Webmaster Tools. Other services are being merged into existing properties to prevent overlap, such as Google Storage for Picasa and Drive — which are now consolidated — and Insights for Search is now part of Google Trends. Naturally, the search giant claims this is all about streamlining, and improving other core products. If the retired service involves a paid subscription, or legacy data, then you’ll need to check the specifics on the official blog to find out how this will affect you, which fortunately for you, is just a tap of the source link away.

Verizon Retiring The Samsung Fascinate?

The Verizon Fascinate was the last Samsung Galaxy S variant to hit the U.S. and the carrier is doing its best to keep the phone up to date with software updates, even though some of them caused problems for users. Interestingly, Verizon is now listing the phone with a “retired” label.

You can see the red watermark embedded all over the device page. It says the phone is retired and so has already been removed from the carrier’s online store. So what would they replace it with? Probably the Galaxy S II variant for Verizon (whether it will be called Samsung Galaxy S II, Function, Fascinate II or Stratosphere).
