Forget about reducing our demand for lumber, there’s no better reason to recycle than this remarkably detailed and accurate Robocop costume made entirely from cardboard, glue, and about twice as much dedication.
We told you about Detroit’s Robocop Statue in the past. It’s one of the few joys that Detroit has left after some tough economic times. Now you can watch the unboxing of the form for the 10-foot-tall Robocop statue as it arrives at Venus Bronze Works in Detroit where it will be completed.
Pete Hottelet, who made the video, is a major investor of the project. As Pete says, “This is the foam sculpt; The bronze statue will be cast from these pieces. The final location for the statue is still to be determined, we are accepting solicitations so it gets the best placement possible.”
We will continue to cover this story until the mighty Robocop statue is standing guard over the city where he belongs.

Yesterday we saw the trailer for José Padilha brand new RoboCop Reboot.
I’ll admit I’ve been out of the loop when it comes to the new Robocop movie the last several months. Last time I mentioned it here, Hugh Laurie, the guy that played House, was set play the CEO of OmniCorp. It looks like while I wasn’t paying attention they made a few changes.
Nowhere in the trailer do we see Hugh Laurie, but you do see that bad motherfu**** himself Samuel L Jackson. It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but it appears that Jackson is playing the Chief Executive A-Hole of OmniCorp. The trailer also shows a Robocop who is more human than he was in the old-school 80s flick.
Notably, Robocop isn’t doing the robot at each turn. He appears to be quite fluid and has an auto-retracting face shield. The trailer also shows that while Robocop thinks he’s in control, he actually doesn’t have as much free will as he believes. I’m particularly glad to see not a single Ford Taurus in any of the scenes.
There’s machines. There’s guns. There’s explosions. There’s flying explosions. And of course, there’s RoboCop. The first trailer for the reboot of RoboCop just popped up and it shows a bit of how this RoboCop becomes a man and a machine. And also shows a lot of things getting blown up.
Detroit’s Robocop Statue is Ready to Be Bronzed: I’d Buy That for $67,436 Dollars!
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn 2011, a Kickstarter project raised more than $67,000 to build a Robocop statue for Detroit. Now the statue is finally ready to be cast in bronze and you have a chance to see what a pre-bronze Robocop statue looks like. It looks pretty sweet!
The design was sculpted by artist Frank Barton. The model as it is now, was done by Across The Board Creations by 3D scanning a smaller version of the design and digitally scaling it up to ten feet-tall. This pre-bronze assembly was put together from foam, wax, and clay and will be the model for the bronze cast.
Gotham has Batman. Metropolis has Superman. Detroit will now have it’s Robocop statue. Your move, punk!

If you’re a fan of RoboCop — and if you were a child of the ’80s, why wouldn’t you be? — then today might be your lucky day. A ten-foot-tall prop of the executive-gunning ED-209 is now available for purchase on eBay for the low, low price of $25,000. Okay, so that’s not exactly cheap for what isn’t even a real working bot, likely made as either a stand-in or a marketing piece. It also apparently needs a couple of wooden planks to stand on its own and was built for the infinitely less cool RoboCop 2. Still, did we mention this thing is ten feet tall? And its leg extensions contain metal bars and pneumatic cylinders? And there are real electrical connections below the legs there? Sure, it might not actually power up, but it’s certainly more intimidating than the robotic officers we have now. So go ahead and bid on it if you have the cash; just keep it away from stairs.

Would you like to own this massive ED-209 replica? Your move punk. Some guy is selling it on eBay for $25,000(USD). Hopefully you don’t live in Detroit or your purchase will be killed by Robocop.
According to the seller, this ED-209 model was made for Robocop 2 and may have been used as a stand-in for the robot during production or created as a marketing piece to promote the movie. This beast stands at over 10-feet-tall on two hind legs built with pneumatic cylinders.
As of this writing it is still available. Go ahead and make an offer, but don’t be that guy who says, “I’d buy that for a dollar.” You need $24,999 more than that. And ED-209 doesn’t do well on stairs. He’s probably best in a one story home.

I hardly remember the original Robocop movie other than I thought he looked freaking cool. The upcoming remake of Robocop may have die-hard fans worried but I’m always for any sort of movie that marries futuristic weapons with robots and humans. More »
RoboCop armor spotted on movie set
Posted in: Today's ChiliWork on Paul Verhoven’s RoboCop remake has already started on an official basis in Toronto, Canada, where the first few shots of Joel Kinnaman in his new costume has started to make their way online. Needless to say, what you see over here is the new armor that is vastly different (and we would presume, superior) compared to the original suit which we saw way back in 1987. No longer will your eyes be greeted by gun-metal gray, but a cool, sleek black is the shade of the day, making me wonder what happens when RoboCop teams up with the GI Joes to keep the peace on the streets. Of course, moving away too radically from the original design might upset die hard fans of the series, so a careful balance will need to be achieved here.
What do you think of the new RoboCop body armor? Well, one thing’s for sure, you could more or less classify RoboCop as a zombie of sorts, except that this is a law abiding one that does not need to feed on human brains. Come to think of it, what kind of conversations do you think that RoboCop and Judge Dredd would have when they sit down over a pot of tea?
