Facebook Rumored To Acquire Drone Maker Titan Aerospace

Facebook Rumored To Acquire Drone Maker Titan Aerospace

Back in 2013, Google revealed one of their projects which was dubbed Project Loon. It wasn’t short for “loony”, but short for balloon which is what Google deployed in far-flung areas where internet access might not be so readily available.

Basically what these balloons do is provide internet access to hard to reach places through a small antenna which then communicates with a smaller antenna on the ground. It is a good idea and it seems that Facebook might be looking to give Google a run for their money with a similar project of their own. (more…)

Body Suit Turns You Into Superman

Body Suit Turns You Into SupermanEver wondered how it would feel like if you were a whole lot stronger than you are now? You know, the macho images of a buffed up beefcake who charms the ladies with his smooth words as well as tanned and well sculpted body. Well, one need not be born with mutant powers in order to be endowed with superhuman strength, but rather, to rely on technology in order to get the job done. Exoskeletons are not new in the realm of science, and even folks in Japan are able to rent one if they would like to. However, how about those of us in the West? Check out this body suit that you see above, which has been touted to enable you to lift 50kg in each hand without breaking a sweat (or tearing a muscle or tendon in the process).

Robot Attendant At Full Service Gas Station?

Do you think that you have grown up in an environment where everything is so convenient, so much so that you are upset when you need to do something by yourself instead of an automated process happening? Sten Corfitsen, an entrepreneur in Sweden, alongside his business partners who happen to be at a company based in Missouri, have stumbled upon the possibility of the next million dollar idea – Robogas. Robogas, in essence, is a fully automated, robotic refueling system which will hopefully feature at a nearby gas station in the future.

Toro-bots Help Out In Your Garden Reorganization Effort

Having a house with a plot of land is a dream for many, but with it, comes stuff like having to prune the garden, water the plants, and making sure that not a single weed grows in there. That could translate to a whole lot of work really, and at times, you might even feel like purchasing a patch of artificial grass instead. Researcher and artist Cassinelli Alvaro decided to work on the Toro-bot instead, where it will arrive in a pair of walking, locationally-aware robots that has Japanese lanterns as heads. This is as weird as it gets, don’t you think so? These tiny garden robots will move around your garden from time to time so that you have a “new” look each time – without having to lift a single finger along the way.

President Obama: We Are Building Iron Man. Maybe.

Remember that scene in the first Iron Man movie where Tony Stark admits that he is Iron Man? Well President Barack Obama had a similar moment when he recently announced the the US Army will be building an Iron Man-like suit of their own.

In his speech (check it out in the video above), President Obama was quoted as saying, “Basically, I’m here to announce that we’re building Iron Man […] Not really. Maybe. It’s classified,” which was then accompanied by laughs. Some might think he’s joking but in reality, he’s not. (more…)

Robotic Garden Lamps Can Follow Your Guests Around the Party

Robotic Garden Lamps Can Follow Your Guests Around the Party

Backyard lighting is as much about decoration as it is about safety, allowing you to enjoy your artificial oasis at night without the risk of accidentally stepping on a hidden rake. But why run lights to every corner of your yard when you can just mount a decorative Japanese lantern to a quadruped and simply have it follow you around all night?

Robot Teaches One How To Pray

Robot Teaches One How To PrayMonkey see, monkey do – or so the saying goes, but when it comes to something as serious as prayer, an Iranian teacher figured out it would be cool if he could come up with a robot that actually teaches the Islamic way of praying. What you see above happens to be a class that is full of Iranian students who are intently watching a robot demonstrate prayer. The 27 year old teacher, Akbar Rezaie, did attend private robotics classes and figured out how to develop and assemble customized humanoid robots. Rezaie teaches the Koran to boys and girls at Alborz elementary school in Varamin, a town that remains 35 kilometers (20 miles) southeast of Tehran.

A Chainsaw-Wielding Tree-Climbing Bot Is Actually a Safer Way To Prune

Giving a robot a chainsaw sounds like just about the most unsafest thing mankind could ever do. But ironically in this case it’s actually making things safer for humans since this robot is designed to autonomously climb and prune very tall trees.
