Alleged Sony Xperia i1 Honami Specs Leaked

Alleged Sony Xperia i1 Honami Specs LeakedWe’ve heard a bit about the Sony Honami phone which will supposed feature an image sensor ranging from 16MP to 20MP, but apart from that, not much else is known. Well thanks to leaked specs, it seems that additional details about the phone have surfaced. For starters the device is expected to be called the Xperia i1 and will come with a 5” Full HD display with Triluminos technology. It will also pack a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU under its hood, 2GB of RAM, a 2,700-3,000mAh battery, will be both water and dust resistant and 10mm thick.

If anything this sounds like a more souped up version of the Sony Xperia Z, with a beefier processor and camera, although we have to wonder if the Xperia i1 Honami will come in the same design, or at least use the same premium materials as the Xperia Z. In any case since none of this can actually be confirmed, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now, but based on these alleged specs, what do you guys think of the phone? Would this be a device of interest to you?

Nokia EOS Rumored For 14th May Announcement As Well

Nokia EOS Rumored For 14th May Announcement As WellWe’ve been hearing rumors that Nokia is set to release an EOS smartphone which will supposedly sport a whopping 41MP image sensor, similar to the 808 PureView except that it will run on Windows Phone instead. The previous rumor had suggested a May-August possible announcement, and now according to new rumors from Digitimes, the 14th of May event which is said to unveil the Lumia 928 and Lumia 925 could very well play host to the unveiling of the rumored EOS device as well.

Apart from the 41MP sensor, not much else is known about the device except that it will be a high-end smartphone with Windows Phone calling the shots. At the same time we can’t help but feel that with a 41MP sensor, it might be stepping on the toes of devices like the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 928 where they have been touted to feature excellent camera capabilities. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us on the 14th of May for the details.

Sharp Rumored To Begin Ramping Up iPhone 5S Display Production Next Month

Sharp Rumored To Begin Ramping Up iPhone 5S Display Production Next MonthIt is more or less expected that Apple will be announcing the iPhone 5S later this year, which based on the previous releases in the past will most likely be an iPhone 5 with some incremental upgrades and nothing too major. Thanks to a new rumor, it would seem as though that Sharp is expected to begin ramping up their production of the iPhone 5S’ displays starting next month, suggesting that the phone could see a release later in the year, likely around the same time as the iPhone 5. This seems to contradict earlier rumors which suggested that the device could be revealed at WWDC 2013 which is taking place in the middle of the year.

Of course it is also possible that Sharp is not the main display supplier for Apple, and that they might simply be ramping up production to help ease the load of other manufacturers in order to ensure the phone is ready on time for customers to purchase. As is with most Apple rumors, it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now, but with WWDC taking place next month, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out if the iPhone 5S will be making its debut then.

Sony’s “Honami” Rumored To Use Same JPEG Algorithm As Future Alpha And NEX Cameras

Sonys Honami Rumored To Use Same JPEG Algorithm As Future Alpha And NEX CamerasThere has been a fair bit of rumor concerning an upcoming Sony smartphone with the codename “Honami”. Word has it that this phone is expected to be a Cybershot equivalent of the Sony Ericsson feature phones released back in the day, except that it would sport a whopping 20MP image sensor, which would make it the second largest sensor when compared to the Nokia 808 PureView. In any case according to a rumor from the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that there is a chance that the Honami’s JPEG engine might be an engine that future Alpha and NEX devices could use as well.

It seems that this new JPEG algorithm was developed for the Honami, but at the same time it is expected to be used in Alpha and NEX cameras as well, and considering that the Alpha and NEX cameras are dedicated camera systems, that is definitely saying a lot with regards to how JPEG images are processed on the phone! While our smartphones certainly are more than capable of nabbing some fantastic shots, quality-wise we’re sure many would agree that some dedicated camera systems would be a better choice. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us at a later date for more updates.

Google May Open Retail Stores Exclusively For Google Glass

Google May Open Retail Stores Exclusively For Google Glass

A new report from Business Insider claims that Google might be planning to open up retail stores with the sole purpose of selling Google Glass. Their source is someone who claims to be working with Google on the development of these alleged stores, the person’s duties include regularly meeting with Google co-founder Sergey Brin with regards to this project. Google has reportedly declined to comment on this, so this is purely speculation for now.

It has previously been rumored that Google was looking in to opening retail stores, but it was believed that the company would be selling a number of things at those stores, not just one product. According to the source, these new stores will be built exclusively around Google Glass. Moreover, since Glass has to be customized for the user’s head as it uses bone induction, these stores could play a pivotal part in getting people set up with their new Glass units. Given the fact that Google has no previous experience with retail stores, for now it could be possible that Glass exclusive stores are just an idea that’s bouncing around in Mountain View. However, since it has already been confirmed that Google Glass won’t be publicly released till 2014, we’ve a lot of time to wait and see if any additional information regarding this project comes in.

HTC R7 And R12 Windows RT Blue Tablets Launch Reportedly In October

It was rumored back in December 2012 that HTC was contemplating entering the Windows RT tablet market. Back then it was said that the Taiwanese manufacturer was working on a 7 inch and a 12 inch tablet which would run on Microsoft’s tablet compatible Windows OS. Today alleged specifics of both tablets have received, but since its just one source, its best to read ahead keeping in mind that these are merely rumors for now.

HTC is reportedly going to release two tablets, the HTC R7 and the HTC R12, the monikers correspond to the respective screen sizes. The R7 is expected to tout a 7-inch full HD display, with a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM breathing underneath it. There might be a 13 megapixel camera on the back and 16GB of internal storage, with the added option of increasing storage through microSD cards. The smaller of the two tablets is expected not to have NFC, HDMI or DLNA. A variant with LTE/HSPA+ compatibility is expected though, alongside a Wi-Fi only one with the customary Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS connectivity features. As far as the HTC R12 is concerned, it will reportedly boast a 12-inch 2048×1536 display and will have the same internal specifications as the R7, but with more connectivity options such as NFC and HDMI.

Details about battery capacity or device dimensions are not available right now. It is rumored that HTC R7 and R12 tablets will be launched on the 13th of October. The tentative release date sits just around the corner from holiday shopping season and is comfortably ahead of the rumored Windows RT Blue release time frame.

Xbox Infinity Allegedly “Confirmed” As Next Xbox’s Moniker

Xbox Infinity Allegedly Confirmed As Next Xboxs Moniker

In less than two weeks Microsoft will be announcing the next generation Xbox, on the 21st of May. There have been many rumors about this upcoming console and speculation is at an all time high. A number of monikers have been rumored, some believe that the new console will be called Xbox Infinite, the Xbox Fusion, the Xbox Infinity or quite simply, Xbox. Now IBTimes UK is reporting that “sources related to development of the new Xbox” confirmed to them that Microsoft’s new console carries the Infinity moniker.

Internally, the next generation Xbox is referred to as Durango, which is its codename. It was initially believed that this console will actually be called Xbox 720, a name that’s obviously a natural successor of Xbox 360. Microsoft has not commented on this latest development, we shouldn’t expect them to either considering that the official announcement is merely a fortnight away. The full unveil of this console will take place at E3 conference in June. It was also recently rumored that an allegedly leaked internal Microsoft memo confirms that the next Xbox won’t require an always-on internet connection. Fact remains, we can’t be entirely sure about anything until the company makes an official announcement. Do weigh in on this though, what are your thoughts about the Xbox Infinity moniker?
