The current-gen Google Nexus 7 tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra-3 chipset, but if you’re wondering what sort of revisions the next-gen Nexus 7 will bring, Digitimes is reporting that according to their sources, the next-gen Nexus 7 tablet could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset instead. So what’s with the switch, you ask? Well apparently ASUS, who is the manufacturer of the Nexus 7, feels that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset is more LTE and voice-friendly. Of course there is the option of going with the Tegra-4 which has LTE enabled, but supposedly NVIDIA will not be able to supply ASUS with enough Tegra-4 chipsets by the time the Nexus 7 launches, supposedly in May during Google I/O. Will this be the case? Since these are merely rumors, we suggest taking it with a grain of salt but check back with us during Google I/O for the details.

While subscription based music services haven’t exactly proven to be a gold mine, consumer interest in them is gradually increasing. Many companies are looking to break in to this niche, the latest being Amazon. A new report claims that Amazon has been meeting with some of the biggest record labels and discussing a subscription music service that it is planning on launching. According to the report, the meetings being held are informal as of now and they’re aren’t exactly any more juicy details. Amazon seems interested in an on-demand music streaming service, one that will be similar to Spotify. (more…)

It seems that networks are finally coming around to the idea of bringing their live content to mobile devices. It’s said that US television network ABC is currently working on a mobile app that will be able to live stream broadcasts over WiFi or a data connection as long as users have a cable or satellite subscription.
According to the New York Times, “the app will live stream ABC programming to the phones and tablets of cable and satellite subscribers.” If such an app did come out, it would be the first time that a US television network has offered live-streaming options on mobile devices. The app would work similarly to the WatchESPN app, or the Olympics app that launched over the summer last year.
ABC is known for popular shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Good Morning America, Dancing with the Stars, and more. The live-streaming app would essentially allow users to watch these shows live anywhere they want, whether it’s over a WiFi connection or a 3G or 4G LTE connection, which would no doubt cheer up those grumpy travelers waiting at the airport.
This news comes a few days after CBS launched its own streaming app, but the big difference here is that CBS’s offering only streams shows after they’ve aired, which ranges from 24 hours to an entire week before you can watch new episodes on your mobile device. The ABC app would takes things a step further and would allow users to watch new episodes live.

ABC, or the channel with Dancing with the Stars and Shark Tank as most people know it as these days, is reportedly working on a mobile application that would deliver a live stream of its TV programming. If it turns out to be true and ABC does deliver an application that would live stream its TV programming, it would be the first US broadcaster to do so, making it automatically cooler than FOX, NBC and CBS.
The live-streaming application would allow its users to watch ABC anywhere they go as long as they have an Internet connection, which already makes it a better deal than the apps produced by cable TV companies as they only allow you to watch live-streaming broadcasts while connected to your home wireless network. ABC’s live-streaming app would only be available to subscribers, which means those of you who watch the channel over-the-air will be out of luck. (more…)

Google Talk is great: lightweight and fast. But then, Google’s also got G+ messenger, Hangout, and even Drive Chat. There are currently so many options across its different platforms that it can get confusing—but Google Babble is apparently set to end that, with one unified, cross-platform chat solution, which will span Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and the cloud. A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Sony’s upcoming NEX-7n was rumored for an April launch. Unfortunately that no longer appears to be the case because according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they claim that the launch has been delayed although no new dates have been given. However they claim that according to their source, the delay isn’t too big and it is not that far off, so we guess we it’s not that bad after all. Considering that Sony has yet to confirm that a NEX-7n even exists, we guess it’s hard to be disappointed that a rumored product has been delayed, but for those looking forward to new Sony cameras, you guys will probably have to sit tight and wait for the official announcement at a later date.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with the rumors, it has been rumored for a while now that Sony could be introducing a successor to the NEX-7, called the NEX-7n. This new mirrorless camera is said to sport a 24MP APS-C sensor with a ½ stop improvement and increased dynamic range, a 3.8 million dot EVF, and even WiFi capabilities! The design is also said to be somewhat similar to the NEX-7, albeit with some slight changes.

After the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4, we expect that the next most anticipated Samsung Android device would be the Galaxy Note 3, the successor to the highly successful series of Note “phablet” devices. However what will the design of the Note 3 look like? Will be it also be a “life companion” like the S4, and will it be adopting a similar design philosophy? While we might have to wait a while before the Galaxy Note 3 is unveiled, the Korea Times is reporting that Samsung will be giving select high-level AT&T executives a sneak peek at the Galaxy Note 3 in a meeting that will be taking place in South Korea.
However these executives will only be getting a look at the design of the phone itself, and not of its innards or capabilities, meaning that this will be more of a shell than an actual working device. The source that provided this tip also “confirmed” that the Galaxy Note 3 will sport a 5.9” Full HD display. At 5.9” we can’t help but feel that things might be getting a bit out of hand, literally, but since these are only rumors we can’t confirm the validity, so take this with a grain of salt for now.
