Dell Currently In Talks To Take Company Private [Rumor]

Dell Currently In Talks To Take Company Private [Rumor]

One of the largest personal-computer makers, Dell, is reportedly looking to become a private company as it’s currently in buyout talks with private-equity firms. At this time, Dell is in preliminary talks with at least two firms, although the talks could fall apart depending on the ability of these firms being able to produce the finance the company requires or the knowhow to exit the investment down the line.

At this point, Dell is staying tight-lipped regarding the situation, but having the company turn private would mean the private firm would buy up all of the publicly traded shares as well as looser regulations.

Since the news hit the wire earlier today, Dell’s shares are trading about 13 percent higher in Monday-afternoon trading. Shares went from $1.41 to $12.30 with over 35.7 million shares being traded.

PS4 Hinted To Be Announced During Pre E3 2013 Event [Rumor]

With Microsoft’s next Xbox being teased to be revealed at E3 2013, Sony may have an uphill battle once again with its PlayStation 4 whenever it’s released. Even though Sony said the PS4 may be years away from being released, it won’t stop them from possibly talking about it a little earlier than expected.

In an interview with emol.com at CES last week, Sony’s Home Entertainment VP Hiroshi Sakamoto may have let slip of Sony’s plans for unveiling the PlayStation 4 some time this year. When asked about Sony’s next console, his translated response was:

“That’s still a big secret. But our friends are preparing PlayStation. I can only say that we are focused on the E3 gaming event, scheduled for June. Announcement may be in that minute or even earlier in May.”

Before this slip, we originally thought Sony wasn’t even ready to talk about the PlayStation 4 seeing how far its release was planned. Now that we know this will be the year we hear about Sony’s next console, we can’t help but really want to play close attention to E3 or any other Sony event going on in the months to come.

Samsung Galaxy S4 To Feature 4.99″ Full HD AMOLED display? [Rumor]

FullHDAMOLED 640x425 Samsung Galaxy S4 To Feature 4.99 Full HD AMOLED display? [Rumor]We’re sure that many of you guys are curious as to what the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be like. What sort of design language will Samsung be approaching it with, what sort of hardware, will it feature a bigger screen and etc. Now we know that Samsung is working on Full HD AMOLED displays and during CES, the company had put up several of their displays for, well, display and spotted as part of their lineup is a certain 4.99” Full HD 440 PPI display which Samsung has stated will begin shipping in Q1 of 2013. SamMobile has speculated that it is possible that this 4.99” Full HD AMOLED display could be used in the Samsung Galaxy S4 and while it might be wild speculation on SamMobile’s part, we can’t help but agree!

After all the benchmark has pretty much been set by HTC with the Droid DNA (also known as the HTC Butterfly in international markets) with its 5” Full HD display and a PPI of 440, that and the fact that the Sony Xperia Z also features a 5” Full HD display with 443 PPI, we can only imagine that Samsung would at the very least match the competition, if not beat it, with their next-gen flagship device. However like we said this is merely speculation and there has not been any evidence that Samsung could go the 5” route with the Galaxy S4, so take it with a grain of salt for now but what do you guys think? Could the Samsung Galaxy S4 feature a 4.99” Full HD AMOLED display?

Facebook Phone Rumored For Possible Unveiling Tomorrow

facebook phone Facebook Phone Rumored For Possible Unveiling TomorrowRumors of a Facebook phone have been running rampant and come Tuesday, 15th of January, such a device could be unveiled at Facebook’s press event. This is despite Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg denying reports of a Facebook phone once in July, and another time in September. MG Siegler of TechCrunch reports that according to multiple sources, such a device does exist and could be on track for a launch at Facebook’s press event tomorrow. Details are slim and to be fair, it is unclear as to whether Facebook will be taking the wraps off actual hardware, or if they will be using hardware from a smartphone manufacturer to show off a possible Facebook OS for mobile devices.

Considering that Amazon has managed to launch their Kindle Fire products with a modified version of Android running on top of it, we wouldn’t be surprised if Facebook has done something similar as well – assuming that such a platform/device exists of course. Facebook has attempted to launch a Facebook phone in the past, although this was more of a partnership with HTC where the company pushed out an Android smartphone with tighter Facebook integration and dedicated Facebook buttons. Despite the social network’s popularity, the phone did not do so well so we have to admit that we were quite surprised to hear rumors that Facebook could be coming back for a rematch. Either way take this with a grain of salt for now, but as the press event is set for tomorrow, we guess we won’t have to wait long to see if it pans out!

Blackberry 10 Z10 “Lisbon” Could Arrive For T-Mobile 27 March

Screen Shot 2013 01 11 at 2.15.51 PMwtmk 660x365 602x332 Blackberry 10 Z10 Lisbon Could Arrive For T Mobile 27 MarchWe know that T-Mobile has expressed their support of RIM’s Blackberry 10 platform and products. While that is good news for Blackberry fans on T-Mobile’s network, the question we have to ask is when will T-Mobile actually launch a Blackberry 10 device? Thanks to the folks at TmoNews who managed to get their hands on a leaked screenshot of T-Mobile’s roadmap (alleged), it would seem that the Blackberry 10 Z1 will be released on T-Mobile’s network come 27th of March. RIM has provided a rough timeframe of the Blackberry 10 devices launch which is set for Q1 of 2013, although back in 2012, RIM’s COO said that Blackberry 10 devices will be made available 30 days after launch, so the 27th of March date seems to be kind of late. However given that US carriers tend to be a bit slow when it comes to pushing out updates amongst other things, we guess this isn’t surprising. Presumably this would mean that the Z10 will be available for purchase unlocked although we guess you’d still need to get a Blackberry plan with your carrier if you wish to use it. Anyway hopefully more information about the Z10’s launch and its dates will be provided shortly, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.

Huawei Could Unveil A 7.7mm Windows Phone 8 Smartphone At MWC 2013

huawei ascend w1 Huawei Could Unveil A 7.7mm Windows Phone 8 Smartphone At MWC 2013Just the other day Huawei revealed that they would be launching an 8-core chipset, following in Samsung’s footsteps when the South Korean company announced their plans during CES. At that time we mentioned that Huawei also had a new phone for MWC 2013 and according to the reports, word has it that one of the phones Huawei will be launching is called the W2 and it will be the company’s second Windows Phone 8 handset, and supposedly a higher-end version of the Huawei Ascend W1. Assuming the rumors are accurate, the Ascend W2 will be a 7.7mm phone which compared to Android seems rather thick, but at 7.7mm it will make it the slimmest Windows Phone handset to date.

Other alleged specs of the Ascend W2 include a 4.5” HD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,800mAh battery and is expected to retail for $515, making it cheaper than both the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. If this is true and the phone does arrive stateside, it looks like those who find the Nokia Lumia 920 a tad chunky for their tastes and are in the market for something slimmer and cheaper, Huawei could be the answer to their problem. Either way we’ll be live at MWC 2013 which will be taking place towards the end of February, so be sure to check back with us then to see if the rumors pan out.

Apple Rumored To Be Cutting iPhone 5 Supply Orders Due To Low Demand

Apple Rumored To Be Cutting iPhone 5 Supply Orders Due To Low DemandIs the iPhone 5 facing low demand? While we don’t have access to the numbers, the Wall Street Journal seems to think so and according to a recent report, they are saying that Apple has reportedly cut orders for iPhone 5 components due to “weak-than-expected demand” for the device. The publication claims that Apple has cut orders from January-March (basically Q1 of 2013) by half, suggesting that perhaps the iPhone 5 isn’t doing as well as Apple had thought it would have. However on the flipside, some are speculating that perhaps Apple is in fact winding down stock in order to make room for a potential refresh. There have been a couple of rumors so far, one of them being that Apple could be launching a cheaper iPhone although this has since been denied by Apple’s Phil Schiller, so what could it be then? Of course these alleged cutting of orders has not been confirmed by Apple so you might want to take this news with a grain of salt, but what do you guys think? Are you starting to see less iPhone 5 devices in the street than you would have a couple of years ago with the iPhone 4/4S?

HTC M7 and Sense 5 UI leak reveals more details

CES 2013 may be winding down, but the news keeps on rolling. Today, a handful of screenshots have leaked that apparently show off HTC’s Sense 5 user interface for Android, which will run on the also rumored M7 that we’ve talked about in the past. The group of screenshots also comes with a picture of the UI running on an HTC phone which could possibly be the M7 itself.

M7

This is technically the first actual photo of what may possibly be the HTC M7. However, it doesn’t show off much, other than the display and a little bit of the bezel. Then again, it looks like HTC will be bringing their polycarbonate design over from Windows Phone 8, so we’ll know what to expect slightly, given those circumstances.

The screenshots show a little bit of what to expect out of Sense 5, and it’s definitely been given a slight redesign. However, for those wishing that the new HTC Sense UI will someday be closer to stock Android, we can’t see that happening anytime soon, since the company loves its Sense interface and many users love it right back.

However, the screenshots hint at a little bit of details on the hardware of the M7. We still see the legacy menu button in the screenshots, which suggest that the M7 will come with the same three capacitive touch buttons just like the HTC One series, with a dedicated on-screen menu button when needed. Overall, though, the Sense 5 UI looks bit a cleaner and simpler than Sense 4.x.

As far as other rumors go for the M7, we’re looking at a 4.7-inch 1080p display with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. There’s also supposedly going to be 32GB of internal storage, a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and a 2300mAh battery to power it all.
