ZTE’s upcoming flagship device, the Nubia X6 smartphone (sometimes, when the word “X6” is mentioned, I tend to think of BMW’s sweet, sweet ride) has been teased yet again, where the smartphone’s rear camera is touted to arrive with Optical Image Stabilization on board. OIS for short, it is starting to end up as one of those standard features found in some higher end smartphone models, never mind the fact that Samsung’s most recent Galaxy S5 lacks that.

With the iPhone 5c, it was Apple’s attempt at releasing a more affordable iPhone handset. It wasn’t exactly that much cheaper, meaning that customers who wanted an iPhone would much rather pay a little more to get the latest hardware, rather than slightly less for older technology, which might explain why the phone is a flop.
However it seems that despite the apparent failure of the iPhone 5c, Apple still has its eye on emerging markets such as India, and according to a recent report from The Economic Times, it has been suggested that Apple is looking to open up more retail stores in India to help push the iPhone to customers living in the region. Are water and dust resistant phones a new trend? We saw Sony kickstart this trend last year with the Xperia Z handset as far as more consumer-friendly handsets were concerned, rugged phones notwithstanding. This was later applied to their other phones in 2013, and also applied to the recently announced Sony Xperia Z2.
Samsung followed in Sony’s footsteps by announcing the Galaxy S5 which was also both water and dust resistant, and now if the rumors out of Korea are to be believed, it seems that LG might be walking down that road as well with their upcoming LG G3 handset. (more…)

Microsoft Could Be Selling Your Xbox Live Information For Targeted Political Ads

The gaming industry is a huge one consisting of millions upon millions of players of different races, cultures, gender, preferences, age, location, and so on. In fact this is a pretty huge demographic that can be tapped into for all sorts of research, but at the same time it can also be used for political agendas, which is what Microsoft could be thinking of.
According to a report from the Washington Post, they claim that Microsoft has been working with CPAC and are pushing the idea of possibly using Xbox Live gamertags and public information to help build a database in which it can be used to target political ads on your dashboard, Skype, and MSN. Windows Phone 8.5 Hinted

Windows Phone 8.1 might be in the pipeline for a launch, with many people looking forward to it, but there is more to it than that. Apparently, there are hints of Windows Phone 8.5 coming our way – yes sir, Windows Phone 8.5. This particular snippet of information was allegedly spotted on the Windows Phone emulator, where there is an indication that secondary live tiles might not make an appearance in in Windows Phone 8.5.

Leica is a camera brand that many photography enthusiasts have heard about. In some way the brand could even be thought of as the Ferrari of cameras. If you’ve ever walked into a Leica showroom, you know what we’re talking about.
Well if you have a lot of money to spare and you wouldn’t mind checking out some newer cameras before making your purchase decision, might we interest you in a possible Leica mirrorless camera? Earlier at MWC 2014, Nokia announced several new handsets. They unveiled the new Nokia X series of Android devices, as well a couple of new Asha handsets as well. However as the rumors had suggested ahead of the event, Nokia’s announcement certainly did not reveal any new Lumia devices.
So when is Nokia planning on unveiling new Lumia handsets? Well according to a recent tweet by @evleaks, he has suggested that come 19th April, Nokia could be holding an event, although he did not mention what the event could be about. (more…)

TSMC, otherwise known as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in full, has reportedly kicked off the production of chips that will see action in the next generation iPhone which many have already referred to it as the iPhone 6. This report also points to the possibility of Apple dropping Samsung as a supplier for the iPhone 6 in the processor department, which would not come as a surprise either considering the amount of bad blood that has gone between the two companies.

While Android has plenty of low-cost tablets from a variety of manufacturers, such as Amazon with their Kindle Fire tablets, and even Google with the Nexus 7, the same unfortunately cannot be said for Microsoft whose Surface tablets are anything but cheap.
However word on the street has it that Microsoft could be looking to remedy that problem with a low-cost tablet that could be launched in India. According to the report from The Times of India, it seems that Microsoft’s rumored low-cost tablet could cost as low as Rs10,000, which when converted is roughly $160. (more…)
